This is fun to read and quite unique too. I've never read a story on a graveyard before. You could make them flirt and have a baby ghost and ... revive one and ...
OH!!!! All the possibilities!  ;)

Chapter Three: In Which Kitee Meets Ransom Clavell

That night I return to the cemetery after a long day fishing and discover that a new ghost has emerged. And who would it be but the ghost of the person whose grave I was mourning just the other day without even knowing who was buried there. Ransom Clavell is his name. Something draws me to him, just like it did to his grave.

"Hi," I say, "I'm Kitee Bones."

"Hi, Kitee. I'm Ransom Clavell."

"I know. I kind of read the tag that came up when the mouse hovered over you."

"So what are you doing in the cemetery?" he asks. "Lost anyone recently?"

"No. I live here."

That's funny, apparently, because he laughs. "You live here? Kitee Bones lives in a cemetery? Really? You've got to have changed your name."

"No, actually. I come from a long line of graveyard dwellers."

We talk a little more, and I realize something. I don't feel like I'm talking to a ghost. I feel like I'm talking to a real person. He's blue and transparent and occasionally hops into things and makes them float off the ground, but he's a lot more real than most people. And I'm not uncomfortable talking to him, like seems to happen with strangers sometimes.

At one point he mentions how stressful it is to be dead and unable to help the family he's left behind. He's a workaholic, and if you're dead there's no work, he explains. Poor Ransom! It must be killing him to be dead. Well, you know what I mean.

"Here, I'll give you a massage," I offer.

"Would you? That would be great."

Off on the other side of the cemetery, Kitty Landgraab and Anabelle Oinkslopes line up to scare Gertrude Flansburg. Gertrude seems like a nice enough lady, and the other ghosts just take advantage of that.

But I'm occupied with my new friend. I hardly notice as time passes and nighttime draws to an end. Ransom is sweet, a hopeless romantic from what I gather, and flirty.

I finally get up my courage and tell him. "You're nice, Ransom. I really like you," I say.

Instead of answering, Ransom sighs and fades into a cloud of dust. Talk about being evasive!

I'm left somewhat confused.

It doesn't help that when I go back to my favorite sleeping bench, Claire Ursine is curled up on it. Since when do people other than me sleep in the cemetery?

The next night I cast my line in the cemetery pond, hoping Ransom will show up. The bench behind me floats up in the air, but I'm used to that. It's another ghost, not my friend Ransom.

This ghost, in fact. Erdrick Gnomeheim. His parents must have had a real sense of humor in naming him.

I reel in a box from the pond. Inside, what do I find? Deathflower seeds. Interesting.

Finally, as dawn breaks, I have to give up waiting. I'm about to pass out from exhaustion. Ransom hasn't shown up. To comfort myself I decide to give my bench a more homey look. I line up all the rubber duckies I've fished from the bottom of various ponds.

The next night Ransom does appear.

He seems happy to see me, and asks more about the whole "me living in the cemetery" thing. So I explain that I actually have a lot, but haven't built on it, because I don't use it. Then he wants to see it. I give in after a little insistence. It's really messy. Who knows how many bills and newspapers have been delivered since I last went by to pick everything up?

We get in a taxi and head over toward 299 Skyborough Blvd. The taxi driver doesn't even blink at the sight of a blue ghost.

We get out at my house. I gesture around at my few possessions. "Over there's the trash can. Fridge where I keep my perfect fish, and mailbox. Not much else."

Ransom's nice about it, though. He says it's "airy." Whatever that means.

Finally I manage to ask him the question I've been pondering for two days. "How did you die?"

"I drowned. That's why I'm blue and everything."

"You drowned?" I ask, feeling sad.

"Yeah, but it's okay. I'm over it," he says cheerfully.

As the sky starts to get lighter, I quickly ask him, "Will you be in the cemetery tomorrow night?"

But he's already vanishing into a puff of smoke. That's the second time he's done that! I think it's on purpose.

I'm left looking fairly stupid, standing in the middle of my empty lot. Where does he go when he's not here, I wonder?

I hope he'll come out tomorrow night.

Thank you for reading, and I'm really sorry about the enormously long delay in getting this chapter out. In four more days it'll be a month since chapter two. Again, sorry! I hope you enjoyed this one. Thanks for the lovely comments.

Yes, definitely worth the wait! I like how different this story is. I know I've never thought about having a sim live in a graveyard, haha.

Chapter Four: In Which Kitee Falls in Love

The next night, the first ghost to appear is a little girl. It makes me so sad to see how tiny she is, and already a ghost. Her name is Opal Suarley. Does she have siblings? Friends? They're probably all gone by now. Sometimes I think life is just so unfair.

Speaking of unfair, Ransom doesn't show up. There's bunches of ghosts walking around, jumping into objects and the like, but no Ransom.

I've gotten the discount diner lifetime reward, so I get to eat for free anywhere I want to. No more canned soup from the gym! I even get a divine meal. Delicious!

I spend the next day reading up on fishing and casting my line in the sea. I catch a shark toward evening.

Fishing is so relaxing. I only wish Ransom could come fish with me sometime. Right, that's not going to happen. Well, I can enjoy my solitude.

I take my books back to the cemetery to wait for Ransom to emerge. Who's this? It's ten pm! What is Simis Bachelor doing here?

I decide to ignore him, thinking maybe he'll go away, but he doesn't. Instead he takes a seat next to me and pulls out a romance novel. Oh well. There goes my solitude.

At midnight, like clockwork, the ghosts appear. No Ransom, though.

Lewis Stu decides it's funny to levitate my bench and shake it around. I just continue reading my book with my infrared night-vision contact lenses. It's scary how easy a person gets used to otherworldly presences.

Another night goes by and still no Ransom. I sleep, wake up, fish, and read. Deliver a clownfish to the theater, where it will begin its career as an entertainer. I can't disguise the fact that I'm impossibly anxious for nighttime.

And then nighttime arrives, and with it, Ransom once again.

"You're a tease," I say when I see him. "I waited for you these past two nights. Why didn't you come?"

"We can't always appear." He shrugs. I ask for further explanation, but he can't give me anything else.

The place is overrun with ghosts, so we head back to my lot for a bit of privacy.

"You know, I wanted to come," he says, a bit irritated. "I wanted to see you. But it's really hard, being dead and all. You really don't know how lucky you are to be alive."

I take his hands on impulse. "You wanted to see me?"

"Well, yeah. It's not as though I get much entertainment." But he's smiling, and he says it so sweetly that I feel my knees grow weak.

Without noticing it, my face is drifting toward his.

And here I am, Kitee Bones who lives in a graveyard, having her first kiss with a ghost. It's not exactly the ideal relationship, I know. But just because he's dead and a ghost doesn't mean he's not a real person. I know I'm going to grow old, and he never will, and that bothers me a bit, but not too much. After all, I'm a young woman in love. We're not known for giving much attention to details like that.

The next day at the park I catch my first angelfish. They're so cute! I can't wait to put one in a fishbowl.

At night I try fishing in the pond in the cemetery, since I know how to catch the fish that live there now. I pull out my first vampire fish! I know those red eyes should freak me out, but hey. My boyfriend's a ghost, and there's a ghost standing behind me right this moment. A girl loses her sense of incredulity after seeing a certain amount of impossible things.

As I continue to fish, I notice other ghosts emerging and going about their business all around me. Is it me, or are the number of ghosts that come out every night increasing?

When Ransom doesn't show, I don't worry. I'm picking up a pattern here. If I don't expect him to come out two nights in a row, I won't get disappointed when he doesn't. I know I'll see him again sometime.

I reel in a guitar from the pond and set it beside my bench. This is real homey, isn't it? I just love my bench and my cemetery.

I've got seven of my thirteen perfect fish now. Aren't I just zipping along? Life's looking up. I'm in love, I'm more than halfway to completing my dream, I'm getting this "living in a cemetery" business down, and, well... even though I spend most of my waking hours in darkness, I'm walking on sunshine. Whatever that means.

Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed!

Chapter Five: In Which Kitee Gets Proactive

One night in the cemetery I use my angelfish as bait and catch my first deathfish! They're kind of ugly, but they're very valuable and it's a big accomplishment to catch one, so I'm happy.

But that's nothing compared to what comes next. From the grave beside Ransom's comes a ghost I've never seen before. And I was starting to think I knew everyone. Her name is Jennie Clavell.

Judging by the name and the proximity of the graves, she's related to Ransom--or should I say was. Judging by her appearance, she drowned as well. I hope the family doesn't have a curse or something!

"You're Kitee Bones," says Jennie before I get a chance to introduce myself.

"Yeah. Did Ransom tell you about me?"

She nods. I can't help but feel pleased.

"So... Are you Ransom's sister?"

"Wife," she says nonchalantly.

"Oh." I suddenly have the burning desire to hide in a hole somewhere.

She laughs. "Don't worry, Kitee. On this side of life, things like that don't matter anymore."

"You mean love doesn't conquer death?"

"Maybe." She gives a shrug, which looks really weird since I can see through her shoulders. "Not ours. I'm not here to tell you to stay away from Ransom. Actually, I'm here for a different reason entirely. You see, Ransom and I died pretty young, not even having reached our elder years. I got over it. You've probably noticed I rarely come out; I only did so tonight to speak with you. I'm content to live on the other side. I came out more often before my son, Buster, died, but now that he's joined us I've finally decided to rest. I've lost track of how many years I've walked this earth as a wisp of blue energy; you can't imagine, Kitee, how deep exhaustion runs after so long a time. Just being here costs effort, so I can't stay long."

If it costs her so much effort to stay here, why is she being so long-winded? I keep quiet, though, because I guess people years back talked more. I've just realized I don't know how old Ransom is. Has he been dead for generations? Just a couple of years? So many questions I forgot to ask.

"Ransom, on the other hand, is still concerned with worldly preoccupations. Other ghosts come out to play and do mischief. Selfish, all of them. They think this is fun. Ransom worries about his family, Kitee. His grandson, Xander, was something of a disappointment to his parents. He has little initiative and no desire to settle down. Ransom hasn't seen him since he was a child, and wants above all to set him on his path, and to see him happy. And now he also has you to bring him back to the world of the living some nights. But he's restricted by sunlight, as you've seen, and confined to this graveyard for the most part. Xander never visits. You're here, but you can only be with him the few hours of the night he can come out."

"So... you want me to bring Xander to the graveyard?" I ask, somewhat puzzled, because it's obvious she wants me to do something.

"No. I want you to bring Ransom back from the netherworld."

"How do I do that?"

Jennie smiles and explains.

The next day I go to Landgraab Industries Science Facility with Ransom's grave. The procedure is surprisingly short. At first they tell me it went wrong, but when I step outside Ransom is there. I run toward him, awestruck at seeing him in sunlight. He gives me a scowl that pulls me up short.

"What's the matter?" I ask.

"Your mother was a llama, you know, Kitee?" he says angrily.

"There's no need to insult my mother," I say, getting mad myself. "I just brought you back from the netherworld! You should be thanking me." I can't help but wonder if maybe things get messed up in traveling back and forth from the netherworld. Jennie said she and Ransom were no longer in love once they died. Does Ransom hate me now?

"Yeah, you did," he says. "Without my permission! You don't just do stuff like this, Kitee! If you're going to do something this drastic with a person's life... or death, or whatever... you ask them first!"

"Your wife told me to do it! She said 'do it tomorrow' and you weren't around to ask! I assumed it's what you wanted. You wanted to see your grandson, didn't you? And you wanted to be..." I choke and can't go on. I'm not sure if he wants to be with me anymore.

"You can't just assume. Not about something this big. What you did was completely insensitive. I'm leaving." He turns around and runs away.

I don't know what to do. I'm humiliated and confused. I thought he'd be thrilled! Who wouldn't want a second chance at life, even if he's not... you know... solid?

I sit on the lip of the fountain to collect myself and think about what to do next.

Things were so much simpler when all I did was fish and hang around the cemetery. Why did I have to fall in love with Ransom and complicate things? Why did his wife have to come and tell me to revive him and put me in this position?!

But would I really be willing to give up Ransom in exchange for a simpler, easier life?

I decide to go after him. Who knows what he's gotten up to? He hasn't walked the streets of Sunset Valley for who knows how many decades. He could get lost or in trouble! What if the police try to arrest him or something?

I have the taxi drive around for a little while before I realize I know where he would go. Of course! It's the place he was all worked up about being forced to leave.

I get out at the cemetery and spot him with a bit of work. He's hard to see in sunlight. He's standing over his wife's grave, in the space where his grave used to be. As I walk up he wipes his eyes.

"Are you all right?" I ask.

"Why didn't you bring her back, too?"

"She didn't want to come. Besides, in order for me to bring someone back there's... something else involved."

"What?" he turns to me.

"I have to love them." I wish I hadn't said the words. He's probably still disoriented from the trip back. Maybe he wants some time alone.

"I need some time alone," he says.

We lie down on the benches on opposite sides of the pond and take a nice nap. Maybe he'll be less cranky when he wakes up. He usually sleeps during the day. Doesn't he? Or is there no sleep involved in the netherworld?

I fall asleep thinking about what it must be like to live on the other side. "Live" isn't exactly the right word, but... you know what I mean. People still exist, even if they're not alive.

I wake up a few hours later and find the bench across the pond empty.

Holy Graveyards! He's run off again! This Ransom is even slipperier than the old one. I need to find him before something bad happens to him! Or--please no--he decides to go back to the netherworld and forgets all about me. Even if I do find him, can I convince him to stay?

My plan was to have this story be only five or six chapters long, but it's extending past that. I hope you don't mind! I'm just having so much fun playing and writing it and the story itself seems to have grown a bit in scope. It started out as me having this little idea of making a sim live in the graveyard and all these things started happening!

Thank you for reading, and thank you for your wonderful comments!
