House: Sunburst

Bedrooms: TBD
Bathrooms: TBD
Lot Size: 30x30
Cost (Unfurnished): 64,300
Items: WA, Amb, LN. No Store Content.

Yellow Lily Realty & Construction searched high and low for inspiration to build an abstract home exterior. We didn't find anything we liked, or that could be adapted for the tools available to us to build a house, so we just grabbed the foundation tool and set to work. This is the outcome of random craziness mixed with a little bit of labour pains.

We present the Sunburst house: 2 floors of symmetrical corners held up by yellow brick pillars and joined in the center.

Arial View of the Property, Landscaping has been completed:

Overhead View of the entire Property, Showcasing the Unique Shape of the House and Back Patio Area:

Front Entrance from the Curb:

View Towards the Right Hand Side, Notice all the Windows Afforded by the Angles:

The Right and Left Sides of the House are Identical:

The Backyard Patio and Pool:

All interested Sims can own this gem of a unique house by visiting the Sunburst corner of the Swap Shop.

The House Plumbob Built

Bedrooms: TBD
Bathrooms: TBD
Total number of rooms: 10
Lot Size: 40 x 40
Cost: Furnished - $78,184
         Unfurnished - $76,665
Content: All EPs, All SPs, no store content

Open for comments when the time comes.

Description: Built with a lot of diagonals, this house has 10 rooms big enough for your Sims' everyday needs. This build was the first time I've used moveobjects on...it was a learning experience.  :)

This is a shot of the front of the house as seen from the curb. Each level has an unique color representing the different shades of Plumbob. The perimeter of the lot is landscaped.

Bird's eye view of the ground floor. The ground floor is lime green, representing a happy Plumbob.

Bird's eye view of the second story. The second story is yellow, representing a slightly distressed Plumbob. Outside of the windows on the flat parts of the house are small balcony gardens.

The third story is orange, representing a desperate Plumbob.

The fourth story is only one room, and is colored red to represent a very desperate Plumbob.

The second, third, and fourth story have two balconies each; one at either end of the building.

This is the pool area in the back yard.

Keeping everything symmetrical, opposite the pool is a patio area.

This is the building from the side. You can see the balconies outside each of the upper floors.

This is a night shot of the back yard.

And this is a night shot of the front of the building as seen from the curb.

This house is Plum tested; Bob approved.

     Colourful Boxes

Lot Size: 30x30
Price: $50,011
Content: I believe it is actually all Base Game Content.

Colourful Boxes was inspired by a recent observation into the scientific method of which Toddlers build their towers using different colours. We gave toddlers some different coloured boxes to observe how they constructed them. What we discovered was that the toddlers did so randomly and that our test was rathe rpointless, however we did get an idea for a house. SO here we have it, simple yet colourful. Designed by Toddlers.

Here you see the above shot of the House.

The House is built on three levels for accommodation. The entrance hall is ground level, with the main living area raised. Above that is the upstairs area.

The Backyard follows the trend of the house using the colours. There is plenty of space for whatever the owner would desire.

Name – Whale Bleu
Cost – 57,338

For a while now, I had been meaning to try something with water. This seemed like the ideal time to do so. But what to do. A boat or vessel seemed too unimaginative. So what better than nature’s largest and one of its most gentle animals, the blue whale! But of course an adult blue whale would be much too large for a 40 by 40 lot, and so why not a baby blue whale!

This contest was definitely a lot of fun. I had not really worked with the water tool in too much detail and so I was able to learn quite a bit.

The main structure is housed within the body of the whale, which you can see here. Don’t worry though! He is not beached, the little guy is just having some fun on shore.

The entrance however, is in the front. These two doors would be the main doors of the unit.

Now here is where things get fun! You might be wondering, well how does anyone actually get into the house. The answer is through an underground basement!

To the left of the entrance is a small garden like area, where you can throw in a few tables, chairs and a grill for an outdoor hangout.

To the right is a small fountain and a bike area. No cars here! They make too much noise for a blue whale. You can also see the swimming area, which seamlessly borders the ocean water.

In the back, you can see the blowhole as well as the tail.

And now for the nighttime images! To me, the entire unit just seems even lovelier at night. To the right you can see the colorful fountain, which comes to life at night.

The torrent of water is also clearer at night.

And of course, our little whale’s eyes take on a nice glow at night as well.

That’s it for now! Thanks for reading!

Building Contest 2012: 3 - Abstract Exterior - Feb 11, 2012 - Feb 23, 2012
    Ausette!

Congratulations Ausette! What an abstract and quirky design! You can see Ausette's Entry here and download it here.

Ausette's Comment:

"This was another contest that I didn't expect to win. I almost feel guilty for winning this week; the other entries were all so big, detailed, and creative compared to mine. Congratulations to all the amazing builders for a job well done!

For the first week of the contest, I was drawing a major blank. When I build, I like to account for the rooms the house could hold, and to make an empty shell with no bearing on the potential interior just felt really jarring to me. Eventually I decided the exterior had to resemble something other than a pleasing array of shapes, but what? Vegetable, animal, or mineral? That's when the llama idea hit me. It was a joy to build and I'm glad you guys seemed to like it.  "

Congratulations Ausette! A big well done to everyone else, it was so hard to choose three abstract exteriors!
