Triplets
« on: February 07, 2012, 05:55:40 AM »
So my game decided to give me a triplet tsunami, even though my sims just have fertility treatment and never read books on pregnancy or watch the kids zone, I still get triplets. So no twins for me. It's pretty difficult to deal with and in my last game I cheated and got myself a butler and and swings. In my current game I don't have money for that. So I'm going to try to get through it. :P I do think it's cute though and I always seem to get two identical sims and one that has slightly different looks.

Anyways I'd love to know other stories on triplets and share some pictures if you have some. I'll put up a couple later. And if you have tips on how to get just twins, let me know too. :P

I don't know if there is a topic on this, I've looked for it but haven't found it. If there is please let me know.

If it were me, I'd have both mom and dad call in to work (if they have jobs) and take long vacations.  Then I'd put them on somewhat different sleep schedules so someone was up and rested to take care of the babies.  I'd stick to leftovers or quick meals while the kids are still small; food prep takes too much time.  Also, once they're toddlers, I'd only feed on the floor; the high chair also takes too much time.

I second the feed on floor! Then when they are finished eating they can just go play rather than cry and wait for you to come get them again! Also I would make sure to have a toy they can all play together because then their social will go up while they are playing!
I think that if both mom and dad have the fertility treatment then you pretty much always get triplets. I think if only one parent has it you are more likely to get just twins but I don't know for sure. I bet Pam would know though! When she gets on I am sure she will have more advice as she is the nooboo expert!

I just got twins, boy and a girl in the same family, but yes I do think that it makes the chance bigger for triplets. I'd have to try one with th treatment.

Edit: Some pictures of tree set of triplets from my sims. The last picture is my current game.

To get twins, I just watch kidz tv and don't use the fertility treatment. If I watch kidz tv for a few hours a day until the sim gives birth it normally works for me.

I'm going to try that in a new family. Right now they have six kids, a single (before fertility), triplets and twins so a full house (although most of them are of to boarding school) :P

Right back on topic: I like triplets once they're past toddler. I like building a friendship between the siblings and to give all of them diffirent personalities.

Hopefully you have a butler/nanny for that number of children, OR, you're unemployed. Beause, I had triplets once and that was IT! Couldn't eat, sleep or do anything! And, to train them without cheating was a nightmare!

It's true that both parents having the Fertility Treatment almost guarantees triplets if there's enough space in the household.  The best way to get twins is to give just one parent the Fertility Treatment or do the Kidz TV thing, but not both.

I've written a couple of articles for the Guide that may help with raising lots of kids.

Also, the parenting section of the Guide might help.

I usually just cheat and give me enough money to get a butler. I don't like the babysitters, because they often don't do their jobs. Because I didn't want to cheat this time I just used the baby swing.  That way the toddlers would always be happy. I made sure that one parent was free (in this case mom who is a gardener) and happy and then train one kid at the time while the other two where happy swinging away. I got two toddlers who grew up happy and the third I didn't have time to teach walking. I do feel sorry for their older brother who almost got zero attention from his parents.

When I had triplets it was early in my playing the sims3 and I got both the husband and mother fertility because I figured since he was older than her, they might need it. Her husband walked out just before she found out she was pregnant (committment issues). Unfortunately for my sim, she was then a single parent and it was before the baby swing.

Wow that is a difficult situation.... Good job on pulling through that one! No I can't imagine doing that with out the swing anymore. I did do it when I just started with th base game, but that was with two parents who had loads of money and no job.

She survived; but, I barely did. I was pulling my hair out trying to keep away the social worker. Had to cheat and make needs static until she could train them all.
