Masterpieces?

I've got a Sim who has mastered the  writing skill but there isn't the option of writing a masterpiece.

The way it's been phrased in both the writing skill guide and the walkthroughs of Physical Perfection and the Professional Author lifetime wishes, it seems as though it's a genre.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm guessing it's not an option for you because you've already specialized in a different genre. Your specialty genre is the one in which you first write 5 novels of that particular genre. And then ultimately, it's whatever genre in which you've penned the most books. So, the best way to write Masterpieces is to never specialize in one genre, but to only write 4 books of various genres until you fulfill the quota necessary to write a Masterpiece.

No, I haven't specialised in any. The most she's done of any genre is 3. And as soon as she mastered the writing skill, I clicked the computer and their was no option.

There are 2 types of novels I haven't touched though... would it help if I tried her hand at those two? Or is my copy bugged?

I thought you had to write 25 novels before you could write a masterpiece. Metro, you're talking about high royalty checks after writing 5 novels of the same type, I believe...

To write a masterpiece you must have written 25 books with that sim previously. If you by that time haven't written 5 books of any given genre yet, you can of course specialise yourself within the genre of masterpieces.

Yeah, the 25 novel requirement is a given. And you're right, Illuminator, you can write Masterpieces even if you've already specialized in another genre. It's the 25 book quota that's the key.
