My Married Sims Had A Child Out Of Wedlock?
« on: January 31, 2012, 02:29:32 AM »
My married Sims are both famous, and they just got a moodlet and notification that there being scrutinized for having a child out of wedlock. How is that possible, they got married before they even tried for a baby? They had twins which are mixed gender, but the newspaper even had something in it about their wedding. It is not a ''false accusation'' it is like it's true but it's not.  :o

It's probably just a glitch.  You might be able to sue for slander at the Town Hall.

I thought it was a glitch, but what would happen if it happened in a challenge? I used cheats to take care of it.

I'd still try to sue for slander in a challenge.  If you don't have that option, you'd just have to live with the negative moodlet until it wore off.  Unless, of course, Metro gives you special permission to use cheats to remove it because of it being a technical issue out of your control.

Paying off the paparazzi works better than sueing for slander.

I get this all the time if my famous sim has a child. It's just the paparazzi spreading rumours. I just pay them off.

I just zap my sims with the Moodlet Manager until the negative moodlet goes away.  I wasn't even aware of the other options.   ;D  Is there any benefit to paying off the paparazzi or sueing besides getting rid of the moodlet?

With suing, if your Sim wins the case, they pay the fee for their lawyer, and then they win a random amount, possibly related to the severity of their "offence" (couldn't think of a better word), and their star level.

I didn't know we could pay off the paparazzi!  Also with suing for slander, if you lose the first time, try it again and even again.  Sooner or later, you'll probably win.

I prefer to pay off the paparazzi because suing takes too much time and if you lose you have to keep doing it. You can also try and deflect the rumor onto someone else. However, the deflection doesn't always work and you can make enemies.

Exactly how do you pay off the paparazzi?  I've figured out how to sue by going to City Hall, but when I click on a paparazzo after a rumor has been started I can't find any option to pay them off.

Also, does paying off the paparazzi affect the damage to the sim's relationships.  Sueing for slander doesn't seem to, so really it doesn't seem like it's worth the time or simoleons to bother.

As I remember, there's an option at the business tower for deflecting a scandal and paying them off.

Thanks for the information, Hosfac!  I'm definitely going to check out the business tower now.  I have 8 generations of 5-star celebrities in my dynasty so I can't go more than a sim day or two without getting some kind of false accusation.

Hosfac is right, you need to go to the business center and chose whether to deflect the scndal or pay off the pap. Giving the creepy paparazzi money ALWAYS works for me. Deflecting, like sueing, is hit or miss!

Thanks for confirming that.  I wasn't sure because I never use those two options, and it was a long time ago that I saw it.

Much like a government, I do not negotiate with terrorists...I sue them into oblivion!   ;D
