Woohoo while touring theater question

Am I remembering wrong or couldn't you once woohoo or try for a baby while touring the theater with someone who was just a friend and after they would still be just friends? It's been awhile sense I had tried it but today when I did the only option was to make out.
I'm sure I done this before a long time ago when I was doing a challenge to have a baby with every female sim in Sunset Valley. Just toured the theater with them and try for a baby and move on to the next one without having them all as a romantic interest.
