You must read the Rules and Instructions Thread first, if you haven't already. Updates have been made.

(Require: Amb, LN, Gen)

Your Task:
The Broke family in Riverview has recently come into possession of a large amount of cash. At a recent family meeting it was decided that there will be no covering up of their new-found wealth or continuing to live as Riverview’s poor family, no way! They will build a modern masterpiece complex to outshine even the Joneses.

Your task is to build the not-so Broke family a multi-family modern home, with 3 separate apartments/suites/units: a 2 bedroom unit for Flat and Flo, and their son Skip; a 1 bedroom/loft/studio for Ruby Broke; and a 3 bedroom unit for Flat’s widowed brother Buck, and his children Trigger and Susie.

Specifications:

  • Budget: up to $100,000 (You don't have to spend it all)
  • Lot Size: 40x40
  • Other: Satisfy the family Party Animal trait, Ruby’s desire to move out but not away from her family, and Buck’s Loves the Outdoors trait.

Optional Specifications:
  • May be one large, multi-unit building or several smaller buildings.

  • I'm doing an internet! Woooahhh!
Can I ask which of the "three" separate families are? (In the picture.) Because I need to know the ages and stuff so I know how I can style their house. :)

Hey guys I'm taking an extended hiatus... again. I'm out of ideas to build houses and I don't have as much fun designing homes like I used to; it feels more like a chore. So that's where I'll be, I will probably be back sometime. :P

They are the original Broke Household from Riverview, Lilygirl gave them a makeover. I am not one hundred percent sure but I believe that they are as follows:

Flat and Floe - Elders, Skip - Male Child

Ruby - YA/Adult Female

Buck - Adult Male, Trigger - Male Teen, Susie - Female Child

Is the lot size up to 40 x 40, meaning we can use smaller, or does it have to be 40 x 40?

I'm pretty sure it has to be 40x40

If there were lot options available it would read "up to and including" or "greater than" or something similar. The idea is to build on the same lot size as the Broke family lives on originally: 40x40.

Please guys, if you have questions PM samoht04 and I (as mentioned in the rules) so we can keep this thread clear for submissions. If your question is something everyone could benefit from, we'll post an answer here for everyone to read.

Overview: A modern housing complex consisting of three separate residences:

Studio Apartment: Ruby shared the family favourite colour of grey, she agreed to add yellow accents to brighten her space. She has a full kitchen and bathroom with enough room to entertain her friends.

2 Bedroom House: Flat and Floe wanted the interior to be modern without giving up their charming (old) furniture, years of scraping by means that they haven't quite got used to their new found wealth. Skip just wants to be an astronaut.

3 Bedroom House: Buck, and his children Trigger and Susie came to the conclusion that they wanted enough space so that they didn't have to be on top of one another all the time. The main living area is decorated in grey and greens to give the feeling of outside inside.

Party Zone: This area is for all the ffamily to come together and party, with it being outside it is perfect for Buck and his love of the outdoors.

Park: The children can happily play here for hours under the watchful eye of their extended family.

Bucks Zone: This zone was made especially under bucks watchful eye, he has always wanted a mature garden.

Relaxation: This area of the yard was developed purely as a place to wind down after a long day.

I hope that the entire Broke family will be happy here for many generations to come.

Oh my word! Guys, I'm so sorry, I completely forgot to attach the new Broke family (as seen in the picture) for anyone who wanted to use them for picture purposes. Total brain misfire!! I just realized it today so they are now attached. They require Amb, LN, and Gen EP (now noted under the picture).

So sorry guys!

And yes, the new Broke family comes with $100,000 so you can actually move them in.

The Broke Family Complex

Size:  40x40
Cost:  99,230
EP's and SP's:  All
Only FREE store content is used in my Building Contest Submissions

Description:
We have all heard the story by now for the Broke family.  But just in case you haven't I'll recap for you.  Flat and Floe were where the river forks in Riverview when suddenly out of thin air pops 99,400 simoleons making there total household funds 100,000.  They quickly returned home to tell the other family members what had happened and it was decided that they needed new digs!  They approached SassySimmer Builds and requested (because of her awesome building reputation - well I am getting better  ;) ) that she build them their dream home.  SassySimmer sat down with each of the family members to find out there inner most desires (looking on Sims Wiki as well as opening the game and looking at the Sims themselves).  After the consultation, the Broke family decided that whilst there new abode was being built they would pay a visit to Lilygirl's Salon for an extreme makeover.

After what felt like week the family returned to where they left SassySimmer and this is what greeted them:

There are three separate buildings that stand on the plot of land.  The building to the left is Flat, Floe and Skip's new home.  Ground floor:

First floor:

Flat was pretty impressed with the decor, although grey is not everyone's favourite colour, it is his!  Floe knew that although she is a technophobe even the TV didn't scare her that much and the kitchen was well equipped to whip up her favourite meal of Hot Dogs.  Skip loved his room, being a daredevil the telescope is a great addition as he can watch the stars and dream of going into outer space.

Ruby's house is in the middle, ground floor:

First Floor:

Ruby loved the yellow in her new independent digs, being her favourite colour it went perfectly.  The upstairs was brilliant and the fact that she could see down below fabulous.  Ruby's favourite part of the house had to be the couches and she knew that they would help her with her Life Time Wish of Heartbreaker.

The house on the right is for Buck, Trigger and Susie.  Ground floor:

First Floor:

This is the most minimalistic.  After careful consideration SassySimmer Builds decided that this was the best option as all of the house members are Slobs.  Buck loved his bedroom it is very stylish and included his favourite colour of black.  Susie ran straight to her room where yellow over powered it all, she loved having her own room!  As Trigger is both Clumsy and Can't Stand Art this house has been built mostly with him in mind, so that it is not too cluttered and there are no art pieces, plants or statues that could offend Trigger.  Buck loves the outdoors and so to help him to stay outside as much as possible SassySimmer Builds included an orchard.

To satisfy the family trait of Party Animal a basement par-tay room was included.

So if your large sim family suddenly finds themselves 99,400 simoleons better off and you need a house quick click the link and they could be living in this house faster than you can say loadingloadingloadingloadingloadingloadingloadingloadingloadingloadingloadingloadingstillloading (ok maybe not that fast).[/size]

The three masterpiece in one

Lot size: 40 x 40
Price furnished : 99879
Price unfurnished: 70333
Content: all expansions and few free store items (plants)

Description:
Dear Broke family, our "Agneza's creativity office" inform You with big pleasure and pride that Your new home is finished at last. We think You'll be very satisfied with this architectual masterpiece which will (we are shure) outshine even the Joneses. Our architects spend a little more money so we had to compromise with furnishing, but we are shure You'll invest in more luxury furniture when You move in. Our decorators took in account all Your wishes, needs and favorite colors.

We split the whole residence in three parts, as You can see from the photo. The emphasis is on the architecture and landscaping, this is the first thing Your guests and every passer-by will notice when seeing the residence.

The left part of the residence is dedicated to Flat, Flo and their son Skip. Flat like to be surrounded with family and Flo is family oriented so we prepared one extra room to be ready when they decide to enlarge the family. Flo is technophobe so we didn't equipped the house with appliances.

Ruby wanted to live by her own but not away from the family. She is a heartbreaker so we builded the love nest just for her where she could be on her own but still with the family.

The right part of the residence is dedicated to Buck and his daughter Susie and son Trigger. Every child has a separate room as they wanted. Buck is nature lover so he can enjoy on the terrace with the view on the garden which we designed especially for him. There is also a kids playground.

We made the central part of the residence especially for socializing, You party animals. There are swimming pool, hot tube, expensiv stereo system, dance floor, grill and a  juice bar hoping this will satisfied all of You and Your guests.

Backyard of the residence

The beauty of this house is impossible to depict with only few photos...

The Broke Retreat

Price: Unfurnished - $55,651
          Furnished - $94,836
Lot Size: 40 x 40
Content: All EPs, High End Loft, Town Life, Outdoor Living, and Master Suite SPs
               No Store Content

Description: This cozy home boast 5 bedrooms, 4 baths, 3 living areas, 2 kitchens, and 1 very happy family! The backyard is party
ready and kid friendly. With their new found riches, the Broke family is sure to find all the happiness money can buy
                    in their very own retreat.

This is the view of The Broke Retreat from the curb. The pathway to the front door is guarded by a couple topiary dragons and lined with small topiary bushes. Flowers and shrubs line the front of the house, as well.

This is the layout of The Broke Retreat. It has three seperate living quarters, each with it's own front door. Flat, Flo, and Skip will occupy the main part of the house, while Ruby's living area is on the left, and Buck's family is on the right.

This is the family room in the main house. It has a stereo and television, plus a  bookcase and plenty of seating. The color scheme for the main house is white, grey, and turqouise in accordance with the family's favorite colors. We have included an alarm system to keep the house safe from burglars.

This is one of the two eating areas. It is in the main house, and continues the same color scheme. The kitchen has a microwave, food processor, and plenty of counter space. In order to prevent triggering Flo's technophobia, we opted to add a sink and recycling bin instead of extra appliances. The area is perfect for the family to gather at meal times.

Skip's bedroom is done in shades of grey, since that is his favorite color. There is a desk for him to do his homework on, and he has his own bathroom.

Flat and Flo's bedroom keep with the color scheme from the rest of the house. The bedroom has a dresser and a fancy lighted mirror. Flat and Flo also have the own bathroom.

Ruby has her own seperate living area that is set up like a studio apartment. Her color scheme consists of shades of yellow, since yellow is her favorite color. The bed "room" is blocked off by a couple wooden screens. She has her own television, and full bathroom. And we have even included a desk set up with a computer.

Across the path is Buck's living area. It has two bedrooms and a full bathroom. Buck's bedroom is done in shades of grey and his favorite color, black. He has a dresser and mirror, and his very own guitar, since we know he wants to be a Rock Star some day. Since we sacrificed the extra bedroom in efforts to maintain symmetry over the entire building, Trigger and Susie will be sharing a bedroom. But not to worry, there is a half wall seperating their sleeping areas. Their room is decorated in grey, black, and yellow, complimenting everyone's favorite colors. Trigger's bed is done in shades of grey, and Susie's bed is in shades of yellow. They both have access to a desk on which they can do their homework. This living area also has a television and couch for the family's entertainment.

The backyard is party ready and kid friendly! The second eating area is back here, complete with a refridgerator, grill, wet bar, and picnic table. There is a dance floor and rock speaker for all the raging parties the Broke family is sure to throw, plus a Gnubb set whenever they are in the mood for some friendly competition. The kids have their own area to play that includes a sandbox, costume chest, building block table, hopscotch court, and best of all...a treehouse!

Looking at the rear of the house, you will notice the back door leading in to the main house. On either side of this door, at the end of the line of small topiary bushes, are the doors leading in to Buck's and Ruby's living quarters. We have included an outdoor alarm system to keep the back yard safe from burglars.

If you like what you see, and think you know a family that would be happy in The Broke Retreat, you may download it here:
