Well this is weird. I just spent the last few minutes talking about myself in third person!  :P I still keep checking to see if someone did actually beat me because I was litterally not expecting this, on this dull morning. (As in it's like really dark and cold outside)

Building Contest 2012: 2 - Artistic Rendezvous - Jan 27, 2012 - Feb 9, 2012
    samoht04!

Congratulations samoht04! You can see samoht04's Entry here and download it here.

samoht04's Comment:

"Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me, I just got my first Win!  :) I have to say though that I sturggled so badly on voting because everyone had such unique and artistic interpretations and entries. When i saw more people adding in Musical Items I realised I'd missed out on something there and when I went to see the results just now I was really surprised I'd won!

I think I'll just tell you a little more about my entry. I decided that I didn't want to do a building or a park as such and so I thought about what I could do when I got the idea of a giant glasshouse type building. It would provide shelter for the artists but also let in light and nature for them to draw inspiration from. It took me ages to get the roof to work properly and many designs and methods of the Glasshouse, eventually I stuck with this one and I am pleased with it.

Thanks again to everyone who voted and a big cheer for everyone else who entered!"

Post your Comments in this Thread until they get merged by a Mod with the power to do so. I just really want to say that all the entries were just so fitting to the Contest and the skill level just keeps raising each time. I do hope that everyone continues taking part even if you didn't win or get as many votes as you would have liked. It is just a friendly competition.

Congratulations Samoht, it was a beautiful build and worthy of a win. Having said that though, it was very tough voting for just three! My poor Sim was running back and forward between entries trying to find things to separate them to make voting easier.

Oh, and I'm happy to have people comment on my build.

Congratulations Thomas a worthy winner. I am happy for people to comment on my build.

Twinmum I loved the landscaping I am so jealous of people who can landscape. Everywhere flowed together really nicely and had a relaxing appeal that I suppose all those Simmie artists need.

Ratchie Probably bad form to comment on my own build but here goes. While the shell of the building was exactly how I wanted it I could have worked more on the interior as it was very bland and boring. Especially when you consider it is a place for artists to be inspired. The landscaping was blah and I really need to work on developing some skill in that area. Although my Sim used to be lucky if they got a bush in the garden let alone anything fancy.

Grats on the win Thomas! :)
Feedback would be nice for me.

Also, feel free to request a home by PMing me! Always happy to help.

Hey guys I'm taking an extended hiatus... again. I'm out of ideas to build houses and I don't have as much fun designing homes like I used to; it feels more like a chore. So that's where I'll be, I will probably be back sometime. :P

Lol, I'm starting to think we should all add "and I'll be welcome to feedback when this thread reopens!" to our entries as we post them  ;D. Anyway, feedback:

Twinmum: You had some really cool ideas, and I'm impressed how many you worked into your little lot. I really loved the bridge and the artist's deck/bathroom. Some parts of the garden felt a little too eclectic for me, but overall it was a very creative little park.

ratchie: I agree with on the shell, it was my favourite part of your build :).  Your landscaping's not too bad either, it just needs some dirt under the flowers and clearer access to the stairs. As for the interior, I actually like the modern look all the metal and blocky stuff gives it, and I would have liked to see you focusing more on that.

Zapkid: I've always loved your style, Zap. I was particularly taken with the wall/floor coverings in the bathroom and the coloured rugs in the foyer. My only issue was that the building itself seemed a bit small for what you wanted to do with it, and consequently the furniture felt a little cramped.

agneza: Thomas's entry was awesome and all, but I honestly expected for you to win this one. I would have loved to visit Artist's Paradise as a kid! It's cluttered and busy, but in the best way possible; it has such an incredibly fun, tree-housey vibe to it. Your attention to detail is fantastic as per usual, and I especially like toilet area and the little table with the "paint" bottles.

As always, I'm open to comments on my entry.

I have nothing to add, change or take from what Ausette just said. I thought Agneza's would have beaten mine, just the sheer amount of work that must have gone in - all that recolouring would drive me nuts! (More than I am now...)  :P

Zapkid:You have a very distinct style and you do modern really well. I would have liked to see you take a few more risks with your build.

Ausette:I loved the tranquil feel of the property. There was a great feeling of lightness and space.

Agnez:Your build was just breath taking. It is the small details that make the difference and you certainly know how to complete a buld. Every single aspect is thought about and you can tell that you create with love.

I was actually just considering making a list of people that always want comments, Lol.  ;)

That strikes me as a pretty good idea. That, or we can add a short "Feedback/No Feedback" statement to the required lot information.

I have nothing to add, change or take from what Ausette just said.

"...Especially that part where she says my build is awesome".  Lol, jokes  ;). I'm glad you feel the same way about Agneza's build.

Ausette:I loved the tranquil feel of the property. There was a great feeling of lightness and space.

Thanks ratchie, I love A-frame buildings for that very reason.  :)

Congratulations on a well-deserved win, Tom and congratulations to everyone who entered.  I love how you each approached this contest from a slightly different perspective and yet all came up with places that I would absolutely love to visit!  You all did such lovely jobs of landscaping and decorating - bravo!
