Can you play sims 3 without internet?

We had some bad storms here, and our internet went out for a few hours while they worked.  Me and my family are fine.  It missed us again (think April of last year here in AL).  I tried to play but I kept getting that something was wrong with the lancher and it needed to shut down.  I couldn't play till we got net back.

I think it is possible to play without internet. I am sure I have done in the past.

I also played game without internet and didn't have problems with it, starting from launcher or as described in a topic I linked above.

The only reason I can think you might not able able to play offline is if your latest EP/SP was purchased digitally. If you use a hard copy, then there should be no reason you would have to play online.

Yes you can play offline as long as you have a hard copy.

I do have the hard copy.  My dad made a virtual copy for me, but it was actting up.  I put the cd in the dvd drive and it still wouldn't work.  So I have no clue what was wrong.

More bad storms coming here on Thursday.  Hope the power doesn't go out and we still have net or it seems I can't play.
