Town Population

I've been told no new families move in but I see new sims every day and some have purchased homes and have had babies. Is that true or not? Ex. Some of those people 's careers are repoman and maid.

Welcome to our Forum!

I play the PC version, but maybe I can help you.

Sims such as the Repoman, Maid, Fireman, Repairman, etc. are known as Non-Playable Characters, or NPCs.  I've never heard of them buying houses and having babies, though.  Also, in the PC version, we have Story Progression, which allows new families to move to town.  It's quite possible that the console version of the game doesn't have Story Progression.  I'd be interested to hear what others have to say about it.

I have story progression on but several people on other forums told me it didn't matter. And in my mind, I know thats wrong because I've been playing the sims for almost 10 years.

I have been playing  game in Sunset Valley for about 40 days (Sim time) and as I have both aging and story progression on, I have a whole lot of new Sims in town but so far, none of the elder townies have passed (and they should have) and so far as I know, noone has moved away.  Two of the new townies are families from the bin, the Bakers and the Funke family.  I wondered if the AI moved them into town to create friends for my Sim's children as there were so few babies (Claire Ursine's little girl and Justine Keaton's little boy) in the game at the start.  Then all of a sudden there were lots of children (including two boys from the Thorntons!) and a lot of new Sims taking the role of paparazzi.

You posted this on the Console board.  Did you mean to do that?  Or is your question really about the PC version?  Have the been console versions for the past 10 years?

Console version does have story progression, just to clarify that :p. To answer the first post, yes new members join the town and grow up/have kids/etc. One of the families that I have saved on my game have found new households to meet also new kids to meet that the town folks have given birth to. Sadly a lot of my sims friends that they met at the beginning of the game and kept in contact with have turned into elders.....then comes the message (in the same spot where you get wishes that pop up) that so and so has past on.

Also, before people die from old age who you know, you will be given a message to notify you about how they do not have much time left and that you should try to go and visit them.

Hope that i have helped in some way!

What I have noticed, on Sims 3 on the Xbox, is that townspeople age and new ones appear.  But, sometimes they look like the previous townspeople only with different names.
