Chapter 32: Devon
Aurora's final goodbyes were held by the lake. Nola, Jack, Heather, Joy and Ella met me by the banks. We surrounded Aurora's lifeless body. Nola cried softly holding Celia in a blanket to her chest, Jack comforting her. Joy rocking Alexander stood by Ella and Heather. My heart was shattered and my tears ran cold on my face. The rain rippled the lake and cooled the air. I knelt down next to Aurora. I cried by her side. I then opened a small wooden box that was in my pocket and I lifted a single white rose from it. I carefully placed the delicate flower in Aurora's hands. We then all held hands and stood in a moment of silence. Then it was the goodbye. Slowly we lifted Aurora on to a a small wooden boat and pushed it out into the lake. Slowly it drifted out and we stood by the banks holding hands, crying and remembering. Goodbye my friend, my love...
