Chapter 12: Ella Elliot
I am much older now. Things around town have been quiet. Mainly because of the mess of guards spilled all over town. The guards have the whole town on their toes looking for magic. Seems to get worse each day. Today I was going to the park to play. It was getting dark when I left the house with Joy. As we walked to the park I noticed a person... looks to be a woman. I can't tell she is too far away. As we got closer me and Joy were still undetected. I told Joy to watch her too. The woman began to look around. It was now quite dark. Me and Joy got as close as we could until we had to hide in the bush. The woman looked like someone I had seen before... but who? I thought and thought then Joy said
"Its the witch you freed!!!" Joy whispered in a panic.
"I thought she was gone..." I said. A knot formed low in my stomach causing me to freeze up.
The woman walked into the house at the edge of the park...
"She lives there?"  Joy asked.
"No, the Moon family lives there..." I said softly back watching.
The woman tip-toed inside the Moon's house the shut the door softly behind her.
"She's gonna rob them!" Joy panicked.
"I will stop her..." I said and ran to the house. I tried to keep my footsteps light and soundless. I backed up to the wall of the house and slide to the old door. I threw open the door.

When I ran in the Moon family and the bad witch and... Evenna White (my neighbor) we all gathered around reading a magic book and chanting.
"Oh look who's here..." The witch cackled.
"Is this the girl who saved our leader?" Said Mrs. Moon.
"Indeed it is... welcome." The witch said. Welcome?
"Huh?" I said. So shocked I could barely speak.
"Welcome to our tribes meeting... your black magic too, for freeing our leader." Evenna said with a creepy tone to her voice.
"Evenna! What happened? Why are you doing this?" I asked, me and Walla played together a lot.
"I always have... parents don't suspect a thing." She scoffed.
"Now are gonna pick up a book chant or what!" Mr. Moon boomed.
"No! Of coarse not! I am leaving to get a guard!!!" I screamed and ran.

"GET HER EVENNA!" Screamed the witch.
"Huh!" I yelled.
"Sorry Ell, gotta protect my tribe." She said not sincere at all.  I ran to the door.
"BOLT-RUZ-KOO" Yelled Evenna. And I fell the the ground not being able to move.

I was tied with imaginary rope. I couldn't move and had no spells to break me free... Joy is my only hope or I die here...
Joy come on I begged.
"JOY!!!!!! JOYYYY!!!! HEELLP HELLP!" I began screaming.
"MUTE-TAY-FOO" Mrs. Moon said. I couldn't make any noise now not at all... couldn't move and couldn't speak. Joy better save me or they lost a third Elliot.

Ahh! You definitely have a talent for getting your characters into bad situations and leaving us hanging! Can't wait for the next chapter! I hope Ella's okay. She's my favorite.

Chapter 12: Ella Elliot Continued
I sit on the dirt floor, now I am all alone. Everyone left me. And I can't help feel that Joy forgot about me and isn't coming to get me. I don't even care about dieing... I just want to know the Joy at least tried to save me... not just give up. Someone has to come for me... I am close to insanity. I cried so much the whole top of my shirt is soaked. And all I can think is "Joy, How could you? Its been over an hour. Don't you think Joy would think to come get me after an hour.
Ow... it hurts to be in the same position for an hour straight.

Another half hour passed. I am saying my goodbyes to this cruel world. My final thoughts are...

Joy, you could have saved me.
Magic is evil, good magic and bad too.
Where is my father?

I just closed my eyes and waited for my mind and body to shut off and let me dye.
Then I heard someones voice outside the door. My eyes just stayed closed... Its probably the witches laughing about my suffering. Then I listened more... sounding like a young women's voice... oh so familiar. I don't care though... no one can save me the witches will kill them anyway.
My thoughts were sour and I was full of hate.
I heard screams and clashes of metal armor, the thuds of guards hitting the ground.
Thud dead, thud dead, thud dead. I thought as I listened helplessly. the fighting died down, probably because everyone was killed but the witches. I heard one last scream, it was high pitched. Then there was pounding on the door, like someone was trying to break it down. Then the door fell in, someone kicked it in. The dust settled and there stood Nola holding a big metal sword in one hand. Jack stood behind her and Joy between Jack and Nola. Nola pulled Evenna into the room by her shirt and threw her down to the dirt floor.
"UNDO YOUR MAGIC OR YOU DIE WITH ALL YOUR PEOPLE!" Nola commanded holding the sword to Evenna's chest.
"No!" Evenna demanded back.
"Do it!!!" Nola scream pressing the sword closer to her.
"Fine!  AM-VUS-LAY!" She chanted and I could move again, and speak. Nola let go of Evenna and threw the sword to the group causing a plume of dirt to float in the air. Nola  ran in and hugged me. Jack and Joy following. Jack picked me up over his shoulder and carried me home.

I lay in bed before I knew it. Jack hugged me again.
"Your safe now... don't worry..." He whispered in my ear. Joy stood there silent.
Nola sat on the bed alone with Jack.
"Joy... I thought you left me..." I said in complete shock.
"No, I would never, ever leave you Ella." Joy said tear in her eyes.
"What happened?" I asked.
"I heard yelling so I ran home..." Joy said.
"Me and Nola were down stairs when Joy came in yelling "Ella's in trouble!"" Jack added.
"So then... we checked out the situation... those women surrounded the outsides causing impossible to sneak in." Nola said.
"So we decided to give it all we got and attack..." Joy said.
"The guards had already began to confront the women by the time we got there." Jack said.
"They didn't last long..." Joy added.
"So I stole the swords off the dead guards and sneak attacked the women" Nola said.
"You killed all the women?" I asked in shock that a princess like Nola knew the least bit about fighting.
"I watched knights training at the kingdom... learned a few things." Nola said.
"Oh..." I said still processing it all.
"Get some rest kid..." Jack said tucking me in, "You had a long day, don't worry about anything, Ok?"  I went to sleep safe and sound.

Chapter 13: Princess Nola
Yay! My first entry... hum. What have I been doing lately... oh yeah!
-Killing Evil Witches
-Helping a family in need
-Hiding my love for Jackson
-Taking care of Ella
-Running from Guards
-Fluffing my dresses
Yeah... I'm not doing much at all, you see back at the kingdom this is what I did all day...
-Wake up
-Servant brings breakfast
-Get dress in my 6 layers of royal attire
-brush hair
-look at window (watch knights practice)
-Nap
-Go to royal feast
-Sleep again
Wow! Isn't that just soooo exciting...
Yes, I am staying in this small town rather than the jail-cell of a kingdom.

Currently, I am watching over Ella. Making sure she is ok from her previous encounter.
It's quite odd Ella keeps mumbling in her sleep... I am trying to make out what she says. Doesn't sound like English.
"AHH!" the metal bed frame began to turn to stone after Ella mumbled... What was going on? Joy came running down.
"What happened?" Joy whispered.  Ella was still fast asleep.
"Look! The bed turned to stone..." I pointed. Joy's eyes went wide and she was clearly lying... I can tell when people lie.
"Uhhhh.  I don't know what happened... really odd... maybe you should get some air I will watch Ella." Joy said nervously.
"Fine, your not telling the truth but, I will go take a walk if it makes you feel better." I said. What is going on? There is some secret I must know about.

Chapter:14 Jack Elliot Part 1 of 4
Today it's just me and Nola, Nola and I. Nola wants to tag along on my fishing trip. I'm fine with that, it's not a romantic thing at all... nope. So get that out of your head right now, just friends. Friends. Ok I like the sound of that. Nola (my friend) wants me to teach her how to fish. In return for my teaching she offered protection from any such guards. That sounds odd; the princess has to protect me from guards. Well, if you knew Nola like I did you would want her to protect you too.
“Ready to go?” Nola said oh so perky. I nodded and we walked to that special spot I like to fish. Once we arrived I began to set up and fish. Nola watched.
“I can do that!” Nola said picking up a fishing pole. She fished close to me, quite close. I am not going to say I liked it but… I certainly didn’t hate it.

After a few hours of fishing, 3 fish later, Nola set down her pole and came right up in my face. I pretended she wasn’t there.
“Interesting…” Nola said, and stepped closer.  My face felt hot.
“You, of all men in the outer towns has the Princess living with him by choice…”  Nola said in a playful tone.

“And while most other men would try to be my prince… you do not. Don’t even treat me like a princess.” Nola laughed and poked my side, again playfully.  My face was blushing. She took the pole from my hands and set it down. She grabbed both of my hands. What do I do?

“What’s going on with you?”  Nola said looking into my eyes, I looked away.  She leaned in.
“Come on…” She started to say and her eyes darted behind me.
“What is it?” I said nervously, I was completely caught off guard. Nola pulled my hand and pulled me back. I turned around and spotted 10+ guards armed and ready, with arrows pointed at me.
“Seize him!” The lead guard boomed. 2 guards walked over to me and aggressively grabbed my arms. All I could think was “Come on Nola stand up to them or I will die!” I looked at Nola with a pleading look but she looked frozen like she was 100% caught off guard.
“Ooh Princess Nola breaking the rules… number 19 of the royal family code.” The lead guard mocked.
“You know the consequences.” He laughed. Nola’s eyes went big.
“No…” She whispered.
“Oh yes!” The lead guard said. What was rule number 19? What consequences? Nola! Don’t give up on me?!?  All the guards laughed.
Nola reached into her vest and pulled out a small, flat metal box covered in precious jewels.
“This is no time to put on jewelry Princess.  Shouldn’t you be saying your last words to your friend?” The guard mocked again.
“It’s not jewelry you idiot!” Nola yelled opening the box. She lifted the sharpest dagger I have ever seen. She pulled out a little cloth and whipped the blade clean so the blade sparkled.
“Ha! You can’t kill me! That would be betrayal of the royal code!”  The lead guard laughed.
“Save it Octavian! I know the royal code better than you… I can’t kill you but…” She paused with a smile and walked to the guard holding me down. Nola pulled off that guard’s helmet exposing his face. She put the dagger to his neck.
“Let him go… or I let your guard go…” Nola said. The guard with the dagger to his neck went white.
“Nola, don’t be rash! You wouldn’t kill your own men, the men that protect you…” Octavian (the lead guard) said.
“No, put I would kill the men who kill my friends and spy on me…” Nola said calmly, her eyes on the blade.
“Last chance, let go or you die, ignore Octavian I can handle him.” Nola said softly to the guard whose life is in jeopardy. He stayed strong,  gripped both of my wrists tighter. Nola pulled her blade back in preparation to stab the guard. At the last second the guard let go. As soon as I thought I was free another guard went behind Nola and held her down so the other guard can pin me down again. This was a mess. Me and Nola were both held down.

No! Don't leave us hanging too long Spork-tastic! :o I wonder what rule number 19 was... No romance with commoners? Poor Jack and Nola. Just when they were starting to admit what they felt. I hope they're okay!

Chapter 14: Jack Elliot part 2 of 4
I woke up in a dirty cell. Where am I? I rubbed my head, feels like I got whacked in the head with a hard object.  Why am I here? I sat up and looked around. I was in jail. Where is Nola?!?! I began to panic, not because I thought she was unsafe (she was completely safe), because I was going to be killed is she didn’t save me.
“Jackson!” Someone’s voice called. Nola came running over to the cell.
“Are you ok?” I asked concerned she was hit.
“Starving! But are you ok? You were hit with a rock by Octavian!” Nola exclaimed.
“Ow… why aren’t you locked up.” I asked rubbing my head.
“You don’t lock up princesses?!?” She scoffed then fluffed her skirt.
“What are they going to do to us?” I asked.

“I wish I knew…” Nola said “Someone’s coming!” Nola ran to a chair in the corner and sat down. The door crashed open. Octavian walked in followed by another guard and someone I couldn’t see.

“This way…” Octavian said and left. Nola’s eyes opened wide, not in a nervous way though.

“Devon?!?” Nola yelled.
“Princess Nola?”  said the young man who was the hidden man. Nola sprang up and ran to “Devon” who embraced her. Brother maybe?
“I thought I lost you in battle!” Nola cried in his arms. Must be her brother.
“My dear Nola, what brings you to the outer towns?” Devon said after kissing Nola’s hand.
“I am living with the sweetest family out here… I got sick of the boring inter kingdom life and went on an adventure!” Nola said.

“But why are you in the prison?” Devon asked.
“Oh…” Nola said softly.
“Nola, what on earth did you do?” Devon exclaimed.
“I was out fishing with a friend…” Nola said.
“That’s it? You were fishing?” Devon laughed.
“No… the guards thought we were a couple… apparently broke number 19.” Nola whispered.
“Oh Nola… you did nothing wrong, I’m sure your father will understand!” Devon reassured.
I re-listened to that in my head “Your father” then they are not related… who is Devon?
“Thank you… but honestly I think I will be locked in the inter kingdom again…” She said.
“What about your dear friend?” Devon asked.
“He is locked up… Over there.” Nola said and walked Devon to my cell. I looked up and waved to them.
“He doesn’t look guilty of anything! What is his punishment?” Devon asked smiling at me.
“I’m not sure… hopefully nothing, I am living with his family now and… they can’t afford to lose a third child.” Nola said in a sad-toned voice.
“Oh, I am so sorry… Ummm what is your name?” Devon asked me.
“Jackson Elliot, but you may call me Jack.” I said standing up.
“Ah Jack Elliot nice to meet you. I am Devon Callahan.” He said.
“How do you know each other.” I asked Devon.
“Oh well… I am the youngest knight in the history of the inner kingdom and I would see Nola at practice, so I would say hi and we eventually became close friends in the kingdom.  When Nola came back from her trip out here she and I were in a bit of a relationship, then I left for battle and she left for here and we haven’t seen each other since…”  Devon said proudly. Nola smiled.
“I see.” I said. I am not jealous if that’s what you’re thinking. Then Devon turned to Nola.
“Well Nola my dear… I am so happy to see you once again, If you want you are invited to join me and the fellow recruited knights at dinner… you too Jack.” Devon said.
“We would love to go.” Nola said smiling at me.
“Wait… I’m a prisoner…” I said.
“Hey you got to eat too!” Devon laughed and left the room.
“Isn’t he charming?!?” Nola exclaimed to me.
“Nice man.” I said sourly.

Later that night at dinner. It was only Devon, Nola, one other knight named Sean and I. Devon said Octavian refused to show up at dinner with the prisoners, he said Octavian was going to disguise the punishments with the other chief guard and the king. I was just worried the whole dinner that someone would come in a haul me away. Mostly Nola and Devon told stories of them getting into trouble at the kingdom, uh… I was so bored. Bored… NOT jealous!!!

Poor Jack. For getting locked in jail and then bored to death by Devon and Nola. Not because Nola went out with Devon! Why should Jack care? He's not jealous. He and Nola are only friends. Haha it's just like a teenage boy to be so stubborn about refusing to admit he likes a girl. I enjoyed this chapter very much, although I hope Jack and Nola don't get punished!

Chapter 14:  Jack Elliot Part 3 of 4
I woke up in the jail cell. I looked all around for Nola… gone. She probably left me and went on a date with Devon.  I laid back down waiting for Nola. The door flew open. Nola?!? Nope… Octavian. My heart skipped a beat. Hurry Nola!
“You should know better…” Octavian laughed.  My heart sank. I felt like yelling and speaking up but I know you never speak up to Knights.
“Your punishment has been concluded…” Octavian said. Nola come on!!!
“Death…” Octavian whispered with his face in the bars of the cell.
“No…” I said under my breath.
“But I will give you one last day…” Octavian said.
“WHERE IS NOLA!” I yelled at Octavian. He glared at me and laughed.

“Nola is on a ride with someone worth seeing, Knight Devon.” He cackled. I said nothing, I did nothing… I thought about Eve and Gracie… how I will see them soon yet never see Joy and Ella again… and mother… and where is my dad… Will I be seeing him or is he still alive? Only if my family knew, so they could tell me what I want to know before I die.  How could Nola leave me to die without staying? Oh yeah I’m a peasant and she is royalty. Well this is it… I have to sit and wait…

Chapter 14: Princess Nola 4 of 4
“DEVON! PLEASE TAKE ME BACK! I KNOW YOU DON’T WANT TO DO THIS!!!” I yelled my wrists and ankles tied and on the back of Devon’s horse. Here let me clear this up for you. Octavian was nervous I would break Jack out of prison so he ordered Devon to take me on a horse ride way out of town until Jack had been punished. He was going to kill Jackson and I knew it.
“Nola, I can’t. By orders of the boss.” Devon stated riding slowly into the woods.
“Fine!” I rolled off the horse and fell on the forest ground… hard. OW!
“NOLA!” Devon yelled in an annoyed tone of voice.
“I’m hurt, take me back!” I stated on the ground.
“Nola what is wrong with you…” Devon said mounting off the horse. “Why do you care so bloody much about this peasant!”
“He takes care of me I shall take care of him no matter if he is poor or rich.” I said.
“Untie me!” I commanded. Devon sighed and knelt down to untie the ropes.
“You are so stubborn!” Devon joked.
“Devon, this is no time for jokes my friend has his life on the lines because of me! Take me back!” I yelled.
“I want to… but I can’t or I will be fired!” Devon said.
“I won’t let that happen Devon! Come on… take me back… I promise no harm will come to you.” I begged, still sitting on the ground looking at Devon is a sort of… flirty way.
“Fine… I can’t deny the princess. But, I won’t go back without a plan.” Devon said helping me up.
“Deal… hmmm how to save Jack by tomorrow….”
“Ugh… how will you get past Octavian?” Devon said.
“Oh Octavian… he won’t be a problem…” I smirked.
“I got a plan if you can stall Octavian…” Devon said. Then he lowered his voice and told me the plan.
Once it was dark out… or plan had begun. Devon climbed on the horse and then grabbed my hand to help me up. I paused and looked up at Devon.
“Thank you.” I said softly. Then climbed up on the horse. The horse began a full gallop toward town. I almost slipped off and Devon caught my hand.
“Hold onto me if you need.” He said. I smiled and wrapped my arms around his waist. We road fast into town. The hooves crushed the leaves and sticks under us and we galloped through the night. We arrived at the prison. I climbed off the horse with the help of Devon. I walked into Octavian’s office.
“How DARE you!” I boomed. This was part of our plan. I startled Octavian who had his back to me, then whipped around.
“Huh? How did you get back?!? WHERE IS DEVON!?!?” Octavian yelled.
“Shut up you fool!” I yelled. I saw fire in Octavian's evil eyes.

“Do not talk to your elders this way!!!” He yelled back.
“Do not yell at YOUR princess that way!” I yelled feeling like a royal brat.
“You watch it or I will lock YOU up!” Octavian threatened. I gasped like I cared.
“HOW DARE YOU THREATEN ME!” I yelled and slapped Octavian 5 times across the face.

While Octavian was in a daze I peered around his shoulder to see if Devon had completed his task. But I looked like he was struggling with the lock… I must continue.
“AH! YOUR FATHER WILL HEAR ABOUT THIS!” Octavian yelled. I glared at him.

“The King will hear about how you disrespected me TOO!” I yelled back. I checked to Devon and he was still struggling. This time Octavian saw me peering about his shoulder. He whipped around.
“HEY!” Octavian yelled when he spotted Devon trying to unlock the cell.  Octavian pulled out his sword and was prepared to kill Devon who was unarmed. I panicked and pulled out my sharpened dagger. Next thing I knew Octavian lye dead on the ground. I was stunned for a second.
“Nola!” Devon yelled at me.
“What!” I said in a daze. I spotted Octavian's blood on the ground, I can't handle the sight of blood… I felt light headed. Next thing I knew Devon was holding me. I sat up, I was on the ground.
“What happened?” I asked looking up at Devon.
“You killed Octavian, then fainted…” Devon said in shock.
“Oh…” I fell limp again.
“Oh gosh!” Devon said.
“Stay with us… we still need to get Jack out before any other knights arrive.” Devon said.
“I saw keys on Octavian’s belt.” I said still in Devon’s arms. He set me gently down.  I heard the jingling of keys. Devon walked over the lock of the cell and unlocked Jack. Devon scooped me up and carried me to the horse. We checked if the ghost was clear and then ran off. Jack, Devon and me.
“I feel better I can walk now…” I said to Devon.
‘”You sure?” Devon said. I nodded and he set me down gently.
“ I need to stash the horse you and Jack go run into the woods I will me you there ok?” Devon said. We agreed.
“Be careful…” I said to Devon.
We broke off and Jack and I ran into the woods, deep into the woods.

When we stopped running we rested.

“You came back for me…” Jack said.
“I could not leave a friend like you behind.” I said.
“Thank you Princess…” He said.
“I understand if you want to go back the inner Kingdom with Devon… he would make a wonderful king to you.” Jack said.
“No Jackson… I am not going to leave you…” I said, and then I stopped myself from talking. Devon or Jack, popped into my mind. Devon or Jack, over and over and over and over again. My heart sank… How can I pick… who do I pick… what do you think? Devon, he would please my father and he is so heroic and sweet, but that would be playing it safe.  Or there is Jackson, sweet Jack, I do like him but there are more strings attached like my father would disapprove and I almost got him killed once, this would be an adventure. Safe and Approve or Adventure and disprove?
