Chapter 30: Joy Elliot
I was eating oatmeal this morning with Ella when a horse galloped right onto the property... not only was it a horse it was Jack's horse.
"JACKSON!" I yelled.
"Joy... no time to explain hop on!" He yelled.
"Ella you too!" He added. We both climbed on.
"What about mom?" Ella asked concerned.
"I already told her she is safe at work. HEYA! HEYA!" Jack said then made the horse gallop faster. Ella Clung to me.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"Ferryman's army" He said and that was all we needed.
"How long?" Ella asked.
"One day."
"Oh god!" I said. We were approaching the kingdom. We climbed off the horse at a fast pace. The draw bridge was dropped and we bolted the multiple gates behind us. Once in the main door was sealed shut with boards, rocks, metal that was welded to what ever we could. Jack lead me and Ella up the the great hall for a meeting. Nola holding 2 toddlers sat worried at the front. Aurora paced the room. No old King, no old queen and no Devon? A couple of guards scattered the room. I began to worry. Then I remember... we have Ella.
"We have to make a plan now..." Aurora said.
"We need to block all exits." Suggested one guard.
"Guards block ALL exits except the secret escape route." Aurora said sounding strong.
"We need a safe place." Nola said rocking Celia and bouncing Alexander on her knee.
"Yes... any ideas? No bushes!" Aurora said.
"The vault." Jack said.
"Perfect!" Aurora Cheered.
"Can you escape from the vault if need be?" Ella asked.
"Yes there is an escape only the knights know about... and me because... well I kind of am." Aurora said.
"Heather!" Nola called on her.
"Yes Miss." She answered.
"Stock the vault with food, water, blankets and medicine." Nola ordered.
"Now we need people to fight... not coward." One guard announced.
"I will." Ella piped up.
"Ella?" Nola questioned.
"Don't kill me for this..." Ella announced. I shook me head at her trying to get her not to talk she looked at me and ignored.
"Aira-book-takra!" She said and effortlessly slicked the couch in half.
"Magic!" Aurora said under her breath.
"I won't hurt you if you won't hurt me." Ella said.
"Agreed. Welcome to the front lines." The guard shook Ella's hand.

Battle Day: The war drums were early than expected.
"ELLA! QUICK!" I yelled when the army was in sight.

Ella jumped up and ran to get ready. She got dressed and headed for the roof. I was the messenger. I would run between the vault and roof reporting events to the rest. On the front lines was 3 guards, Ella, and Jack. Aurora had to stay in the vault in case we needed to evacuate.

"THERE HERE!" Yelled a guard to me. I was in the stair way ducking down low with a shield over my head.
I got up to warn the rest. I ran for it.

"THERE HERE!" I repeated to Aurora who was scooping up Alexander.
Then I ran into Celia's nursery.

"It's time..."
I announced and Nola slipped on her chain mail and pants.

I ran back to the front lines to see Ella forming a ball of fire in her hands. Ella preformed a move and launched the fireball toward the army. The first 3 rows the Ferryman's army was down the other 10 launched arrows at us. It rained down I took cover.

"ONE DOWN!" cried Ella. One down?!?! No! I have to go tell the rest.
"TWO DOWN!" Cried Ella. Another!?!? Just Ella, one guard and Jack?!?! I ran for the vault when the glass shattered raining down on me. I got a couple cuts but kept going.
"2 Guards down!" I announced.
"Oh my lord!" Nola said with Celia wrapped up in blanket in her arms.
"I'm going in!" Aurora said.
Nola stood up and placed Celia on a pile of clothes.
"No Aurora!" Nola put her hands out.

"I must!" She insisted.
"Please... Alexander..." Nola pointed at Aurora's son.

"Ale... oh... but..." Aurora was taken back.
"He needs you..." Nola said.
"So does this kingdom." Aurora announced "If I died, Nola take care of Alexander and tell him I loved him." Then together me and Aurora ran back to the front lines. Ella was launching fire over and over again until the army thinned. About 10 soldiers remained.
"KEEP IT UP!" I cried the them. Aurora plucked arrows one after the other at the soldiers bellow us.
"5 MORE!" Yelled Aurora. I went to report. When I returned no more soldiers were left it was over. I cheered and hugged Ella. But Aurora wasn't excited...
"I have been shot!" She cried. An arrow was stuck in her side...

Great story!

I saw the title somewhere and thought it was going to be a Sim story version of "Little House on the Prairie".  That was one of my favorite shows when I was about your age.  I am SO impressed with your writing and all of the writing on the forum.  I was inspired to try to write a story of my own.

I can't wait for the next update!  The other three stories I read were already finished so I was able to read them start to finish in one day.  This will be exciting...even more exciting...having to wait.  :)

Thank you! I read a lot of little house on the prairie when I was younger and I really like the show. I would love to read you story, I will keep an eye out for your writing. I know, when I found this forum I was SO excited because I used to try to write on the Sims 3 website but no matter how much tech support or fixing I did I could NEVER publish a single thing.  Anyway, thanks for reading!

This is such a wonderful story! Well written, interesting, charming, and suspenseful. Very well done with the end of chapter cliff-hangers!

When I started reading your story yesterday, Spork-tastic, I realized I had started reading ages ago but then forgot to read the new updates as you posted them. But I'm back and am not-so-patiently waiting for the next update. :)

Chapter 31: Devon
Trison and I are on our way back from a hunting trip when the kingdom comes in sight. Then I saw the bloody mess... hundreds of Ferryman's soldiers  lay lifeless on the grounds. I hope everyone's ok.
"Come on boy!" I signal Trison to come and we run to the kingdom stepping over bodies. I kick open the gate. The guards let me in the main doors. I run in. I see Nola coming down the stairs.
"NOLA!" I yell.
"Devon! I am so glad you made it..." She said.= hugging me.
"What in the heck happened?" I said.
"Ferryman's army attacked. We won though." She said.
"How? It was just 3 guards, Jack, Aurora, Heather and you and the babies." I said shocked.
"We had help..." She said.
"From whom?"
"Ella." She said with a soft smile.
"ELLA? Jack's little sister?" I laughed hard until my side hurt. Nola wasn't laughing.
"Are you done..." She said in a joking way.
"Your not serious?" I said.
"I am though." She says.
"Did she use magic or something?" I laughed more.
"Actually yes..." She said.
"The king will kill her..." I said.
"Jack wouldn't kill his little sister!" Nola glared at me.
"Sorry I forgot he was king again." I corrected myself.
"Where is Aurora?" I ask. Nola's smile fades to a thin line of worry.
"Come..." She says in a somber tone.
She leads me to Aurora's chambers.  Nola knocks.
Heather opens the door and lets us in. The room is dark with candles burning. Rain pelts the window. The flickering of the candles create a soft buzz and the rain pitter-patters on the glass. Nola hums a soft somber tune that mixes with the rain. I look down at Aurora. Her dark brown hair fanned out on the pillow and her chest slowly moving up and down from breathing.
"She is alive..." I whisper.
"We don't know for how long." Heather says.
Jack sits quite on the wardrobe.
"What happened?" I asked chocked up.
"Arrow hit her in the side..." Jack whispered not looking up.
"No..." I said. I sat down on the bed next to Aurora.
"Don't die Aurora... you can't. No!" I looked down at her and her eyes slowly opened.
"I love you. Take care of Alexander and be strong for me." She said in a voice that didn't sound mocking and stuck up... it sounded scared. Then her eyes closed and she laid on the bed lifeless. How could she be gone? Like our parents... gone taken by Ferryman's Army... Gone.

Oh my god I got so teary-eyed reading the end of the chapter! I'm so sad Aurora's gone. I honestly thought she would make it. Just now while writing my comment I realized you hadn't put in any pictures. The scene was so well described I felt as though I saw it anyway!

Not Aurora! She was kinda mean somtimes but she was still a great character. I'm sad that Alexander will have to grow up without a mother.  :'(

Oh No, poor Devon and Alexander. I wonder how they'll deal without Aurora. That was such a great update, sad and heartfelt.
