I need a money sink
« on: March 30, 2010, 08:52:25 PM »
You see, after playing with the same family for some time(60 weeks), I don't know what to do with the 5 mil simoleons I have.

What's the best way to throw away money - other than cheating.

5 million is honestly not that much given the length of time. 60 weeks is more than 4X the length of a 100-day challenge.

:o I play a sim family for about a week and then i'm bored of them. I don't think any of my sims have had a million much less five million. Have you bought all the businesses in the town? How about a fleet of the most expensive cars and vacation mansions?

I think the most one of my sims has is 3 million.  She has all vacation homes, three of the most expensive cars and still has four of the spire soulpeaces that I have not cashed in, I think in all she is probably worth around 4 mil.  She owns the whole town, I think, lol.  I can't make her house any bigger, but I was thinking of moving her into the old Wolff house though.  You can only spend so much, but it was fun playing her, not sure how many weeks I have been playing.  She is one of my original sims I started with when I got the game.

This one can be easily fixed for me, I try buying as much fish as possible from different locations (if you have World Adventures) and from the supermarket then go around town stocking all the ponds. :D Takes time, but that does get rid of a lot of money.

Buying vacation homes is a good idea because you can own more than one at a time in each country.  Some of them are really expensive mansions, too.  But, eventually, you will simply run out of things to buy because you own the world.  :D

Yeah, my 5th generation Legacy has almost 2m in cash, no idea what to spend it on.  They already own all the businesses in town, don't wanna by vacation homes because I've had buggy luck with that.  Got cars, nice house, art.  Oh well, at this point I just think of it as extra points.  :)

Honestly not that much? My favourite (and only until baby boomer II) family is 32 weeks in and has a lot worth over 500,000 and another 160,000 in cash.  And most of that is from money trees. My family owns the grocery store and book store, owns 2 vacation homes, and the last of the 6th generation was just born. But by your reckoning, I should be up to 2.5mil by now, shouldn't I?
There are so many high flyers on this forum. It makes a by-comparison little player like me feel a little down, and by how some people act, a little peeved sometimes too. I was proud of what I had until I came here.

But back on topic - if you're biggest worry is what you're going to spend your money on, you don't have much to worry about, do you?

Hi pallyndrome.  Please don't take it personally.  Metro is a very different type of player, is all.  He pushes his Sims to the extreme and money is generally the best way to score extreme playing.  I guarantee that he doesn't have a multi-generational family, except for the current Baby Boomer II challenge.  That's not where his strength is.  I play more like you do and my Sims don't have anywhere near even 1 million.  It's really just a difference in play styles.  If you haven't already, you should read Metro's article about playing guitar for tips.  You'll see exactly what I mean by extreme playing.  :)

I like this idea. I'm going do that.

Nah. What I do with the display case is make 100k nectars.

My source of income would probably come from 6 working Sims (4 part timers) and from a Mummy that has been fishing Deathfish for eternity(fetches 1.7k per fish average). The rest of my Sims are skillers. They always are. But now I have 3 adults and 3 teens. All of them have maxed out their skills. Shoot. That's why I need a sink.

Yeah, pallyndrome, Pam's got the goods on me and my style of play. And I certainly meant no offense by my comment. I was just hinting at the big money-makers—guitar, painting, writing, etc for a period of time like 60 weeks and what a family could potentially earn. Sorry, my friend.  ;)

When I'm done filling the ponds with thousands of fish, what can I do with the remaining money? Anymore ways to waste cash effectively?
