I think it has to do with the fact that the patch includes content for games you may not have. If you don't own Pets and you download the current patch (1.29), this patch includes fixes for Pets. I think the problem could potentially be that the patch is trying to fix content it doesn't have.

I'm just trying to help fellow simmers in need. I wish someone had told me all of this instead of me figuring it out on my own, but I'm more than happy to share what I've discovered. :)

Moons is the best  ;D.

My theory (as a non-tech-savvy person, so not to be trusted in any way, LOL) is that maybe the 1.29 patch causes conbflict with the non-patched expansions that came out before Generations. Maybe the 1.29 is made to work just with the updated versions of each EP/SP and if they are not patched, the game doesn't run properly, or doesn't run at all. I think that's why my game (and maybe Fez's and yours too, Darkhadia) was crashing so bad even though I had DEP and paging files settings right, a nice graphics card and all other requirements for the game.

I think Darkhadia (and Fez too, if the patching doesn't work) should browse for the crashing diagnose tool in Google, download it and run it. It's pretty easy to find and use, it took me like 5 minutes. Good luck to both  ;) and keep asking questions until you understand everything and your game gets fixed! As I said, I'm not much of a computer whiz but I've read a lot trying to fix my crashes and other Simming issues. I would be glad to help you if I can  :).

I tried to patch up but it's telling me I require a different game region to patch up?

EDIT: According to this, I don't have enough memory. :(

Oh oh.... What does it mean when the game has generated new files? I now have Dreamer.sims3 as well as Dreamer2.sims 3 which is fine... but I also suddenly have Dreamer 2(24).sims3, Dreamer 2(25).sims3, Dreamer (26).sims3 and Dreamer(27).sims3??

EDIT: They're all dated the 29th February, the last day I played, but all at different times..

The game region is written beside the download link for each patch: for WA it says English, Worldwide, Asia, Japan and Digital Download. Then for the other EPs it just says either English or Digital Download. I had no idea which game region I had, so I tried with Worldwide and I got the same error that you got, but then I tried the English version and it worked. I would try either Worldwide or English until you get the right one, and then keep downloading the same region for the other EPs  :).

About the memory, I got the same error, but after patching my game is running again. I would try this nonetheless if I were you, I've been running the sims with 2GB ever since it came out and I have never had any major issues for it. Sure, maybe it lags and freezes every now and then but nothing else.

About the saves, I have no idea  ???

Thankyou, I did actually download the English one.. So I'm trying with Worldwide right now. :) And yea, these saves seem rather sinister!

EDIT: WA Worldwide worked! Oh no, there's no worldwide download for HELS! Attempting the English, I hope having different ones doesn't muck up..

Maybe it's some creepy sort of corrupt file?  ??? I have no idea how the game can generate random save files, besides the .sims3.backup ones. Really weird, I hope it's nothing bad.

The Dreamers are corrupt. Again. Apparently, EP stuff is missing? I'm in tears, this is unbelievable.

Moons, If I put back some exports to my Sims 3 folder from my Sims 3 Old folder from the factory reset, would they be compatible with my game now it's fully patched? And what about the saves?

Hmm Fez, there's a thread about recovering corrupt saves here at the Technical Help Board. It's a sticky posted by Carl. I did what he said there and managed to recover allmost all my Dynasty, just a few sim-hours were lost. Maybe you should give it a try, or post here on the technical help board about how to recover yours... maybe there's still a chance. Or maybe Moons can help you too :). Apart from the corrupt Dreamers, does your game run now at least?

The only file I run is the Dreamers so I haven't tried. I'll give that thread a try, I remember which one you're talking about. :)

EDIT: It worked! :o It worked, it worked, it woooorked! :D Thank you so much for reminding me, Frey! I shall report back on whether there is crashing or not. :)

I can't say I understand what's going on with those generated saves, Fez. That's really odd. If you don't plan on trying to restore them, I would just delete them. I'm sure there's a link to the worldwide versions of all of the EPs and SPs. You may have to search the official site, though. I hope restoring works for you! You'll let us know if it's still crashing, right? :)

Frey, I think you'd be okay to move them, but I haven't done much at all after patching so I don't know for sure if it will work. I say just give it a try.

A word of caution for those of you having some issues, Patch 1.31 is now available for download.   I can't seem to find any patch notes but everyone is saying this is the one that adds access to SimPort/achievements and it's probably a brand new can of worms on top of the issues you're already having.
