You can experiment on stuff without having the science career?

My wife got to level 10 on the science career. I made her switch jobs after the final promotion. She now has a career in politics, but she can still do experiments on household stuff. Is this a glitch?

Nice, so once I get to level 10 on the criminal career I can still steal stuff after I switch jobs? Or no?
