Origin Matters?
« on: January 19, 2012, 10:35:07 AM »
Greeting,
I recently updated my Sims game with Ambitions and the base game, and everything was working fine in January.
Then Sunday I purchased Sims 3 Pets onto my computer with windows added that in.  Now when I log in I have a message 'Unable to connect to origin'.  I click OK and it leaves. No issue.
It shows my game is upto date, but I'm not sure if it checks if I don't check in with origin or if that is per when I updated it not that long ago.

I want to make a Townie Dynasty plus continue the tournament career cap file already started.  I don't want to get into these files without being upto date per the rule.

Does origin have to be fixed...how do I uninstall and reinstall or otherwise fix origin without uninstalling Sims 3 and risking my seemingly perfectly working game? I don't want to download anything from anyone.  I just want to play and I can do that...But I want my scores to count so I need to ensure this won't impact updating.  Does anyone know if it will still update or how to fix origin?  I have all three disks, and a computer restart is not the answer.

Computer uses windows 7 home premium.  The base game, ambitions, and pets all use typical installation. I have never added any mod or entered the cheat menu. I did download the zero sim point items that popped up in my game in the gold boxes everywhere but I'm sure they belong to EA. (like the ghost light that is was to huge to use and the jester hat).

I have never deleted out the DD backup or followed the other maintenance tips that involve deleting stuff, so I didn't accidently delete anything.  When Pets installed or updated origins, I think it just broke it.

A detailed how to fix, or a promise it updates even with origin broken would be fine too.  I'm not hacking EA so I don't care about their verification system one way or another. I just want to be able to update to follow the dynasty and tournament rules.

As long as you're patched up to 1.29 for now, you should be fine as far as the forum challenges go. I'm having the same problem, though. I updated Origin a few days ago, but I'm still getting the error on the launcher.

I get the same message.  It has no effect on game play, so I just quit worrying about it.  I don't even have origin installed anymore. :)
Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?

Same here, even when I did have origin installed I got that, and nothing ever happened.
If at first you don't succeed, call it version 1.0.

Just ignore it. I don't have Origin, at all, and I get that message. If push comes to shove and you can't patch using Origin - no big deal. You can patch manually, which is simple. I always patch manually.
