Growing Gems?
« on: January 19, 2012, 01:57:07 AM »
ok so I downloaded the lot with all the gems on it. (TY for that, great lot.) It leads me to a question. How do you make the gems grow?  I see putting Tiberium outside makes it grow. Is that how you get the other gems to grow too?  Or if I want nothing but big gems do I have to just keep deleting and adding the lot to my neighborhood to get gems that way?

I believe only a Spire Cut Tiberium will grow, and only once per Gem. You leave it out for a few days, with nothing close by (leave about 4 squares in each direction, that should do it), and it will grow, and spike in value from something low like $4000 to obscenely high - $40,000+.

And honestly, I don't know about bigger gems. If you have Tiberium, I think you'd have World Adventures, so Transfiguration would help. I believe there's an article on the guide about it.

You can transfigure Gems to make them into Large Cuts. I think you pretty much get the Gem you want in the cut you want and make that the majority and then if you want to save cash put a few smaller gems in or something, click transfigure and you get a large cut of the majority gem in the cut you wanted. Best to ask Anushka though.  :)

Oh and if you mean 'How do I get Spire Cuts for other Gems' then you have to use Tiberium's in the transfiguration process to make them Spire Cuts.

Welcome to our Forum, KatWildtimbers!

The large gems you're seeing aren't grown, they are created with the large display table found in World Adventures.  It not easy to get them because it takes a lot of time and effort.  Your best bet is to read about it on Carl's Sims 3 Guide.  That will be a great place to start.
