Claymask and Nutella congratulations!!!

Honestly I did the same thing you did, well almost then... I made all my sims guitar players with 3 skills to give to the clones. Those were of course Ambitious, Virtuoso and uhm... Artistic I think ;) Ambitious was the most important for the extra HP and Virtuoso would have them make more money of course. I let them play in the subway for money and had the LTW of having 50.000 for all of them too. Like I said, for me the Happiness Points were no problem, but I just never made so much money in the subway. At the most I made 50.000 a day or so and to buy whole SV you need about 4 mln or more... That wasn't possible in 13 days. It took forever for me. If I would have finished this way, it probably would have taken me 12 weeks or so :-[ How did you do that?

Metro is explaining it here:
getting around 100 performances down via the "I won't if you will" song that cancels out but still registers the performances

And MomOfMany says it here:
But I didn't know that other one about the guitar just queuing up preform and canceling a bunch of times.

But I don't really understand what that means exactly. Please enlighten me!!! :)
Problem? Don't panic! There is always a solution. You just have to find it  :D

Okay, at least with the electric guitar, the song "I won't if you will" cancels automatically if you queue it up. I do not believe it does with a regular guitar. So, if you queue up 8 Perform interactions of that song, your Sim will burn through them in minutes and get full credit for 8 performances which will in turn pump up the tip amounts.

Ok, thanks for that. I understand what you mean now. That's a nice trick to use.

I actually did something similar like this:
- Buying items worth $50,000 and storing them in family inventory then selling them to grant the LTW.
This felt a little like cheating though...

An additional question: do you have to play certain songs to pump up the tips?? ??? Never knew that, sorry... :-[
Is that before playing in the subs? Does this mean they have to learn certain songs or something?

It's all about the Performance # as far as your tip amounts. So it does not matter what song you perform — they'll all raise the performance #. But, for the purposes of using guitarists in challenges you always want to go with the exploit to save time.

 :)

I was actually using the same tactics as ClayMask! Go me!
I didn't have access to the hypnotiser or tree of prosperity but I didn't do too badly without them!

The only concern I had was placing the subway.  I enquired about that before we started the challenge (back on page 3 of this thread) as while the general challenge rules state that you can place them, this specific challenge said that you could only place a community building and then the houses and the subway doesn't count as either as its an upgrade to an existing lot.  The response I got said it would need to be added to a community lot after I had purchased it.  It wasn't answered by Metro himself (although he does always say that unless he corrects a comment made in answer by someone else treat it as right).

I don't think the extra days it took me to purchase a lot to place the subway on would have made too much difference, but it  was something that I thought we weren't allowed to do.

@ Wench
The subway is actually already on a community lot that came with Night Life. So it was right there in the library. I didn't know that at first either, but I found out when I placed it in my test game ;)

@ Metro
Sorry to ask again, but can you explain a little more?
Maybe it is the language difference or that I just don't have the time to experience the game to the fullest... How do you perform a song? Never done that :-[ And what do you mean with "the exploit"?
I really hope you don't mind me asking...

Edit: So you're gonna perform songs to have better tip and then quickly go in the subway? I am gonna try how this works in game right now! :)
Another edit: I apoligize for what you probably think are very stupid questions. I just found your Guide to making an Uber Guitar Star :D

@Wench: That question was asked and an answer was given by a member, who mentioned that she thought you could if you upgraded, but Metro had the final say.  Metro then said that he was going to amend the rules to allow people to add a community building of their choice to the town.  I think there was a misunderstanding there and he intended to be answering your question, as well as other peoples' simultaneously.  Odie already mentioned that there's one on a community lot (though I'm not sure which one this is), and from the general rules you may use edit town for the following reason:  "To add missing lots such as Fire Stations, Salons, Laundromats, Consignment Stores, Bars, Subways, Studios, etc. to your neighborhood. Those added lots must be designed by EA and you can't alter them in any way. You can grab them in the Lot library or copy paste them from another unaltered EA-designed town."  So you could have even pasted one from Bridgeport.  I'm sorry this wasn't clear to you  :(  I really wish it had been.

@Odie:  Looks like Metro already answered the question you asked me.  Instead of queuing up songs and cancelling them, I just went into map view, which is the lazy method of doing this.  It does almost the same thing, without requiring the cancellation step.  Using this method it took very little time to reach 200 performances.  You said you went to go try it.  Did it work for you?  Also, do you remember the name of the lot that had the subway included?  I'm having trouble finding it.

@ClayMask - Don't worry I'm not upset about it or anything, I promise. It took me a few days to get a subway into my game but it wouldn't have made an earth shattering difference to my score or anything. I just was under the impression that we couldn't do it.

I would like to add a little screenshot I grabbed about midway through the challenge as it did make me smile to see all those clones together. (If that's not allowed to be done here, I'm sorry, just remove it!)

I have just restarted my game, because the save file I needed was in a different folder ::) So I am gonna try right now!
About the lot with the subway. I think there are actually more lots of Bridgeport that have it, but they aren't all community lots. I believe the one I found with a subway was Bridgeport Sportzone. Where did you have a subway then?

Btw I am also sorry for Wench. Especially since you also had about the same strategy as the winners and probably could have had a better score. I on the other hand, need to learn a lot more about the game ;)
I did notice that when a challenge starts, rules change a little or are added, because of the questions people ask. Therefore I though it would be better to wait a little before playing. (maybe I waited a little to long ;D)
Nice picture Wench!

Ok here is my strategy, slightly different.

My original 4 starting sims traits were:
Genius Sim -- loves outdoor, family oriented, genius, bookworm, ambitious
Guitar Sim -- loves outdoor, photographer's eye, virtuoso, artistic, ambitious
Fishing Sim -- loves outdoor, excitable, angler, kleptomaniac, ambitious
Klepto Sim -- loves outdoor, genius, bookworm, kleptomaniac, ambitious

All 4 had LTW Swimming in Cash.

Day 1 Sunday --
Genius sim would hit logic class then stayed at the library to max logic all day long.
Guitar sim would level guitar up to 5 and do the perform trick yes ma'am i do.
Fishing sim would level fishing, his goal in life is to catch 13 perfect fish.  However during evening hours around 7pm I had him go to the gym and steal some cars, he manage to steal holly alto's car.
Klepto sim would hit the consignment store and bought out the store like many many times over, resell everything but kept ores.  After she got about 20 ores, i had her smelt it all and then had her go to the library and level logic.  When night time falls, she went to agnes crumplebottom house and steal her car + some bathroom items.  Then I waited for 12 am to roll around and send her to the wolff house to steal that car and some bar stools.

Day 2 Monday --
When mailman came, i had guitar sim took a break and went to get the mail.  Genius sim still reading, klepto sim still reading, fishing sim still fishing.  With all the ores (got the bonus ores back too), I manage to transfigure like 5 supernovium.  Each supernovium was about 7k-9k plus selling all the stolen goods from the 2 kelptos, that was enough to get the household funds up to 50k.  Everybody went to get their clone on this second day.  Also took 24k and purchase the hogan's diner, and plop down a subway station for my guitar sim.

For the clones, I didn't use the 3 traits trick, i just went with w/e the games threw at me.  If the clone have ambitious trait, I then cake them up to teenager and uses a combination of Logic/Gardening/Sculpting/Fishing/Cooking -- main goal is to get 8k happiness points.

Genius sim will be tutoring the non-ambitious clone.  In the beginning since tutoring was slow, I cake them up 1st then I tutor them.  I also had the klepto sim help out with tutoring.  Fishing sim continues fishing.

Day 3 Tuesday --
The 1st day I moves out 5 sims.  Yes 5 sims.  Fishing sim manage to get the 13th perfect fish around afternoon.  So I age all my 4 clones up with LTW Presenting a Perfect Private Aquarium.  I also move the fishing sim out, since I no longer need him.

Day 4 Wednesday --
My guitar sim manage to get enough points to purchase a 2nd clone (those earn xxx amount of tips from guitar gives a lot of happiness points), so I move out the 4 clones plus my klepto sim.  At this time, my genius sim already have the teacher extraordinary bonus which can tutor way faster.   So this day I move out 5 clones too.

So from then on I move out 5 clones everyday, had 2 old sim that don't move (genius and guitar sim).  On Friday my genius sim have enough to get another clone, but then i can't do 6 clones everyday, need a free spot to rotate the clones (8 max per family).  So that clone didn't require tutor, just age him up and I bought inheritance with the points.  I didn't have showtime, could have bought dusty old lamp !

The money from guitar playing was mainly to purchase buildings, since all my clones uses the fish LTW.   With ambitious traits, the fish LTW gives 37k, so I just need to get 8k before moving them out.  Which is not hard to get, but just lots of micromanaging.  I didn't do the driving thing !! I ABSOLUTELY HATE the driving !!!  My car would bugs out, the teenager would be learning to drive separate from the adult and end up in the middle of nowhere.  Since it would take up my guitar sim time .. genius sim still busy tutoring, I opt to give up on the driving.  I use logic/gardening/cooking/fishing/and sculpting to get that 8k points.

So everyday I push out 5 clones, starting on day 3.  Day 7 push out 6 clones, day 11 push out 6 clones.  The extra clones are from the 2 original sim.  I started them off as engaged, so they will have the get married lifetime happiness points pop up sooner or later.  I also chose photographer's eye trait on my guitar sim, I had her level photography to max for some easy points.  I should had my genius sim level photography too, but then was too lazy so I just stick him on the sculpting station when he is not tutoring.

Wow, Nutella, well done!
Does sound like a lot of work though. While indeed guitar playing in the subway gives wishes to have big tips and makes for easy HP. I had 4 starting sims that were already clones of each other. It was quite easy to play them, but getting the money...

Claymask, I have tried it in my game now and my jaw dropped!
My talented guitar playing sim with no or almost no performed compositions made about 412 an hour, while after 31 performed compositions she made about 6664 an hour! :o WOW
That's 14 times more money. And this was so easy to realize...! I was already earning 50.000 a day. With this trick I would have earned 700.000 a day and then I would have been able to finish not in 12 weeks, but in... less then 1 week maybe??? Only had to age up and move out the clones then. But at the fastest this is possible in 7 days too. Only you have to make some money first. But I think 10 days (or less then 13 :P) would be possible that way. WOW
If I only knew this earlier... ;)

@Odie: You're right, I see the subway station in Bridgeport sports zone.  I just used one I copied from Bridgeport (Overlook Point Subway).
With Showtime and Pets installed, I'm counting 53 lots that need occupying, which isn't quite possible to complete in 7 days even if you move out 7 clones per day, starting on day one (you can't move out 8 because you need at least one empty spot to make new clones).  You also can't move out any clones on day one because even if you get them on day one, they wouldn't be able to move out until day two (although I guess you could move out the original four if you accomplish everything you need to with them).  And the most clones you could get on day one is four unless you managed to clone your Sims twice on day one, leveled up their guitar skills, performed, and made all the money they would need for the challenge.  So money isn't the only issue preventing this from being done in seven days.  You can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm thinking eight is possible with Showtime (barely) and nine without if you start with unlimited money and manage to clone your Sims twice on day one, and then move out all the originals.  Doing this challenge in less than 13 days is very likely possible, though.  If you ever try it again, I'd love to know how fast you managed to do it.

@Nutella: Yes, the Trees of Prosperity come with Lunar Lakes.  They are very nice to have.  Congratulations on being able to make all the happiness points without them!

Hey Guys,

Due to some family emergencies that came up I wasnt able to complete this.  I must say some people were really creative :) Grats to you all..

Just wanted to share where my Sims 3 challenge was heading (even though I wasn't able to finsih)

I had 2 sims with ambitious, artistic, virtuoso,Loves the outdoors, bookworm and had them do the guitar exploit
I had the rest ambitious, bookworm, Saavy Sculpturer, artistic, athletic
I had them all with the Swimming in Cash LTW and all my clones would pick that LTW also.

I had 3 dogs with hunter/genius traits to bring money immediately into my household and throughout the challenge. Then I sent 1 dog with a clone or original sim when I needed the extra room (around day 3) and kept the other dogs to get metal/gems/rocks continueously thought the whole challenge. As soon as I could, I would have them get the Alpha pet reward for better hunting. The items gemmed or made into bars or space rocks anaylised that would pay a lot, I would keep them so I could sometimes get the clones to trigger the Swimming in Cash LTW right away, but having the clones selling them would always trigger the "buy something for x amount" wishes to help getting to their 45k clone reward go faster and easier to do.  I did find the dogs wierding out with the people in the household, so i sent them off to dig far away so they wouldn't come home ever..  poor doggies..

I would always teach the teens to drive for the 2k to 2250 lifetime rewards it would bring. Then have them all sculpture to trigger more wishes.

If some clones started getting "really bad" traits I would move them out immediately, if I had an original with a voucher available and have the clone do the dusty old lamp reward for the genie and the fortune wish for more money.

As far as I was able to get, this was a fun challenge and thanks for creating it Metro :)
