This was my strategy before I got bored and decided not to finish the challenge.

-Have 3 guitarists. Their traits are Ambitious, Virtuoso, and Artistic. They are not given anything else for traits. Their LTW is Swimming in Cash.
-The 4th member is treated as a utility sim. He is given Genius, Bookworm, Ambitious, Savvy Sculptor, and Family-Oriented. He also gets Swimming in Cash.
-Buy one of the starter homes unfurnished (I forgot which one I bought), go into build mode, and demolish everything to try and get as much money back as possible. Do not cancel the newspaper delivery.
-Buy 3 guitars for your guitarists and have them start playing. The utility sim buys Stoney Falls, then goes to the bookstore and spends the last of his starter money on 3 copies of Yes Ma'am I Do.
-Put a subway station in Stoney Falls, then send the utility sim to the library to powerlevel logic to 5.
-Once his logic hits 5, send him to the Bunch house and tutor the kids in there. The goal here is try and get Teacher Extraordinaire completed on the utility sim so he can tutor clones to prevent random traits.
-Once the guitarists hit level 5, have them do the guitar exploit to get 150 performances played, then send them to Stoney Falls subway station until the family gets 8 million dollars (yes, you really need that much money to own every home and venue in Sunset Valley)
-Once money starts coming in, have the utility sim buy the professional bar and powerlevel mixology to 5 to get access to skill gain drinks. Try to use downtime to complete the Master of Mood challenge.
-Once the guitarists complete their LTW, get your first set of clones going. Have the utility sim tutor them to prevent getting a random trait on age up. Once they all get an A grade in school, cake them to teen and give them Savvy Sculptor.
-Have the teens start leveling sculpting to complete the wishes to make clay, wood, gain sculpting levels, etc. This is where the skill gain drinks come in. Optimally, I'll have 2 teens sculpting and one getting tutored to prevent a random trait.
-Once they all hit A and have 7,500 happiness points, age them up to YA, don't give them a trait, give them Living in the Lap of Luxury to instantly complete it, spend the 45,000 happiness points on a clone voucher, make a new clone, move out the one that used his voucher. Repeat as necessary
-This cycle repeats until you have enough money to buy every home and real estate in Sunset Valley. Once that's done, the guitarists move out and a second utility clone is created to train 5 kids/teenagers at once.
-Ultimately, you want to be able to create clones that have Artistic, Ambitious, Savvy Sculptor and nothing else.

It took forever to get enough money to buy every home, but it's mentally exhausting to train every clone to not inherit traits. My main strategy was to use Living in the Lap of Luxury to instantly fulfill the LTW (meaning I can go without guitarists later), tutor the clones to prevent random trait inheritance, and powerlevel sculpting on each teenage clone for very fast happiness points.

Nice to see I was using the same tactics as everyone that posted so far :)

While I did make a few mistakes that cost me a day here or there, I think my biggest problem was not having Pets or Showtime.  That left me needing to fill around 60 lots and with only being able to age each clone once in a day, there was a definite bottleneck to how quickly I could get clones to leave the house.

I'll link my entry, but I have a couple of questions that I want to ask separately, even though it means I'll be double posting ;)

1.  I didn't do the using only three traits traits trick, and I don't really understand how that would work.  Wouldn't the clones end up with five traits anyway, since they'd get two when they aged up?  And then it would be the same situation the original generation of Sims with five traits were in, only a generation later?

2.  Metro, if HOF entries are linked in this thread, when these threads are moved to the graveyard eventually, will they still be linked correctly?

Congratulations to all who finished, especially Nutella!  I used a sort of similar strategy to many of you.  I used the Swimming in Cash LTW instead of Living in the Lap of Luxury since it gave 35,000 happiness points for a non-ambitious Sim (Living in the Lap of Luxury only gives 32,500).  I didn't tutor Sims because it seemed to me like it would take too much time and require a lot of time from Sim adults.  I only ended up moving out three Sims I think on the final day, so having Showtime didn't help me, even though I thought it would. In the next post is my summary.

I started this challenge with four Sims that were nearly clones of each other already.  Although they looked different, all four had the same traits and lifetime wish.   Their traits were over-emotional, loves the outdoors, virtuoso, artistic, and, most importantly, ambitious.  All of these traits either revolved around the fact that I planned on using the guitar exploit to earn money, the desire to give them extra happiness points, or both.  Their lifetime wish was Swimming in Cash.

Since I was going to use the guitar exploit to earn money for them, the one community building that I chose to build was a subway, which I put across the street from their house.  After putting copies of the cheapest house I saw in the library, The Swamper, in all of the empty lots in town, I proceeded to move my Sims into a Swamper and immediately tear it down.   The only things that I wanted to give them to start out with was giving each of them a nice bed so they could get the +30 well rested moodlet, two Hypnotizers total, and a guitar each (although I actually bought the guitars after they had learned some guitar skill).  I also bought a stereo so that they could have an additional good moodlet while learning the guitar skill.

The fastest way that I found to learn the guitar skill was to have them use a Hypnotizer in pairs.  In each pair one would hypnotize the other to play the air guitar repeatedly.  They kept doing this all the way until the Sim being hypnotized reached guitar skill six, and then switched off so that the others could reach guitar skill six.  Once they all reached guitar skill six, I had them all cue up as many performances as they could in a row, while I went into map view.  This made all of the performances go by extremely quickly, and I continued this process until they each had 200 performances.  I then had them all go play for tips in the subway, and they all very soon satisfied their lifetime wishes.  I believe they had enough happiness points at this point to each buy clone vouchers, since they had been getting some easy to satisfy guitar-related and purchase wishes.  I had them do this, and then aged up all the clones to teenagers.  I had the original Sims go back and do some more playing for tips in the subway, and sent one of them to go buy a camera in the consignment shop as soon as possible (this is easily doable if you buy all of the items in the consignment shop until the camera shows up).   I also bought about 20 Trees of Prosperity, which were useful for achieving and spawning wishes once they bloomed.  I sent the clones to work on gaining happiness points.  This was achieved by satisfying various easily achievable wishes, using photography to spawn and satisfy wishes (I passed the camera around from one to another of them), having their parents give them driving lessons, and using the Trees of Prosperity to spawn and satisfy wishes.  I tried to earn 5000 happiness points within a day of when each ambitious Sim was created, and 10000 happiness points if they were not ambitious.   The rest of their happiness point requirement was satisfied by their lifetime wish, Swimming in Cash, which I had them choose upon reaching young adulthood shortly after midnight (they were teenagers less than 24 hours).  A bit before midnight I also bought four buildings and moved out two of the original four Sims, to make some room in the household for new clones.  After the Swimming in Cash lifetime wish was satisfied by having the remaining two of the original Sims make $50000 simoleans playing for tips in the subway, I sent the newer clones to the science building to make clones of themselves.  I had the first pair clone themselves and then move out, to make room for the clones from the second pair.  I had the second pair stick around so they could teach driving lessons to the teens after the teens received the wish, and being them various other places after curfew if necessary.  I moved this pair out shortly before aging the new set up to young adult, and the cycle continued.  By the third generation, I do not think that any of the clones retained the trait ambitious, so earning enough happiness points on them became more difficult.  I still managed to get them aged up twice within 24 hours of them being adopted and moved out, though.

Once I had enough money I bought all of the remaining buildings and properties in town, and upgraded all the properties.  I then worked on happiness points on each of my original Sims, one at a time.  When the first one had enough happiness points, he cloned himself, filling up one of the empty slots in the household.  From this point on, each Sim had to move out before the next one could clone themselves.  Once the second of the original Sims got enough happiness points to clone themselves, I had the other Sim from the first generation move out to make room, since the household already had nearly enough money to buy all the remaining houses in town.  From this point onward, I normally only had my original Sim teach one or two driving lessons per day, and the rest had to earn the happiness points through other means.  The remainder of her day was spent playing for tips in the subway.  I made sure to have her always playing for tips at around midnight, while I aged up the rest of the household to young adults in rapid succession.  I even had them all cue it up simultaneously.  Even though they still took turns spinning around and aging up, it was helpful to have them waiting in birthday position, rather than celebrating all of the birthdays.

I think that pretty much sums up everything.  It was 13 very intense Sim days before the whole neighborhood was taken over.  What goes on after that point is up to them.

When a sim ages up and earns a trait (learned the toddler basics or got an A in school), you can pick the trait yourself. However, once you get onto the trait selection, you can actually exit out of it without picking a trait at all and cause your sim to not get a trait. The final product would be to have YA clones with only 3 traits and cloned children getting those 3 traits guaranteed, even if they're too young for it (Savvy Sculptor for example)

Couldn't you just have given them ambitious though, instead of no trait?  The result then, would just be that they are guaranteed to have ambitious when you get them, instead of either when you get them or when they age up.  Also, with this method, you would have to tutor them twice instead of once.  If you gave them ambitious as an aging up trait, you wouldn't have to tutor them a second time, and maybe not a first time, either.

Each generation of clones already had ambitious as a child in my file, I was giving them savvy sculptor at teen so that they wouldn't break their sculptures when satisfying wishes to make clay, wood, etc. sculptures and wishes to improve their sculpting skill.

What I was trying to do was phase out virtuoso through cloning and have each generation child start with ambitious, savvy sculptor, and artistic.

I had pretty much the same idea that everyone else had. But I didn't know that other one about the guitar just queuing up preform and canceling a bunch of times. I ended up with a few mistakes that would have probably saved me 2 weeks. Like my first clone died right away! Ops! And then I ended up with the not aging bug. So I tried to get all the clones aged to teen in one day and then I had to turn off the static needs and then save and quit and restart which got very annoying! But then I still ended up get two teens that would not age at all not matter what I did and that really slowed me down. As teens cannot get the Clone Voucher! So I ended up having to get 3 more clones than I really needed which slowed me down. But oh well I learned some things and over all it was fun besides have to save and quit all the time.

By the way Metro, Esther1981 is twice on the leaderboard.
That's because I'm twice as special. Hehe ;D

A huge congratulations to Nutella and Claymask! That was an amazing score!

Awesome strategy ClayMask! The only way I could think of to get that many happiness points in so little time was using the control+click in the LTHP box. Although I thought to myself that would be cheating, but since testingcheats were already on, you actually wouldn't have to open the cheat window again.

When I was trying, I had my original clones clone themselves, then the clones would get a clone and move out. My problem was getting the happiness points, as I didn't want to use the technique described above. Money is no issue because I've been playing long enough to know how to make money fast, it's the happiness points I couldn't get fast.  ::)

I did not use the guitar. The money I earned came from fishing (deathfish),painting and sculpting.

I had my 4 gardening, painting, writing and the 4th was Ms. Everything else lol. She went to work at the bistro to get the cool fridge, and she also did handiness, fishing and charisma.

So the unmentionable technique all this time was the guitar exploit in the subway?

About the Swimming in Cash LTW, I used it for my original 4 sims (who happened to be named Joanna, Paula, Georgette and Ringo...), but once you get over 50,000 simoleons, doesn't the amount required to fulfill the LTW for future generations default to some higher number? Or does that only happen if there's more than 50,000 in household funds at the time the LTW is chosen? Just curious.

Anyway, I opted not to clone the clones, I just aged them up and moved them out as quickly as possible, unless there was a wish to send them to boarding school which helped keep them out of my hair as children - I'd bring them home early to cake up, and teach the teens to drive before aging up once more. Before I quit the challenge, I was going to have Georgette (the guitarist of course!) switch careers with Ringo who happened to be in business (an early wish), and let Ringo learn the guitar (already knew the drums, naturally). Paula (bass) and Joanna (piano) were going to quit the self-employed band career to be a DNA profiler and a ghost hunter respectively to trigger more happiness points, but all 4 would still spend most of their free time in the subways. Traits were ambitious, artistic, virtuoso, genius and insane - insane was not particularly useful, but I knew this would be somewhat monotonous so I needed something to keep me entertained. In the end, being insane wasn't enough as I still had about 20 clones to go when I stopped, but it was fun while it lasted.

I normally had over 50,000 in household funds after the original set, and had to make an additional 50,000 for each LTW generated after this.  It was easy to do though by having my guitarists play in the subway during the birthday parties.  If I was aging up a lot of Sims at once, the ones that aged up first had even completed their LTWs before the last ones had aged up.  The main thing you had to be careful about using this method was not to move Sims out while some of them had LTWs that were not yet completed, especially into the more expensive homes.
