As far as I understand it you can evict a family each time you upgrade a property or buy a building. So you buy eight buildings and evict eight families. Then once you have purchased all buildings and upgraded all properties you can go to edit town and evict all the remaining families before moving your clones in.

@Joria, Rachel's explanation is spot on.

Thanks to both of you.  I just didn't want to mess up even my practice file and then find out later I shouldn't have done that.  Actually, for such a complicated game the rules are pretty simple and straightforward.  You done good, Metro!   ;)

That's very true. Also, I'm afraid I might be a DNF even though I love needs static and the rules are easy to keep track of. I'm having severe problems (not technical glitches) with this. Not going into detail right now, but also not giving up on it. Like Metro said, sometimes it happens. Also it gives me hope that this is just practice and I might get better in the real thing.  ;D

This looks like a very fun challenge. Metro, I've got a question that goes back to an earlier post:

1. Do you have to kick out the  2 YA's on the same "move" screen, or can you kick them out separately? Also, I'm pretty sure that "kick out" is the option you want.

You responded to the second part of MarianT's question by saying that the YA's should be moved out instead of kicked out, but I'm not sure whether you ever addressed the question of whether 2 YA's can be moved out to separate residences once you have purchased and upgraded one property. I'm guessing not, but I'd like confirmation.

Matrona, Metro gave this answer when someone asked if you had to wait until 2 clones were available to move them out.

One is fine. That may be all you have at a given moment.

Also, there aren't enough buildings and properties so that you could put two Sims in each house.

Is our active household allowed to move into an empty lot? ie convert one empty lot, and place homes on all of the other empty lots bar one.

  • You are free to use the Make Needs Static cheat.

Does that mean we are also able to turn it off and make needs dynamic?

I don't think so. Rules say you have to place houses on all empty lots before you create your household and start in Live mode. So there shouldn't be any empty lot left to move in. But this shouldn't make a huge difference...

I suppose so, "free" is not "forced to", right?

I have started the testing for this challenge, and it's a lot of fun so far  :D

Rules say:

You may not change the active household.

Does this mean:

1.  The original four cannot move into a different house

2.  You may only move out clones of the original four.

What?  Grannies can't play games?

I take that rule to mean that when you move someone out, you have to keep the original household (and whoever lives their at the time) as the active household. So if you moved Sim 3 out and left Sims 1,2, 4 and 5 in the original house, when it asks which is to be the active household, you have to stick with the house containing 1,2, 4 and 5 and Sim 3 moves out never to be played again.

Sooooo, as long as there is at least one of the original members to be the "active household" then it's ok?

I'm really having fun with my practice file!

I may be interpreting it wrong, but I just assumed that as long as the active house was always the same house, then it doesn't matter who was living there. So if down the track, you may have a household with one of the originals plus some clones, you could move out the original as long as you maintain that house as the active one.
