Possible Trouble on Official Sims 3 Forum
« on: January 16, 2012, 04:42:08 AM »
I've gotten reports that there's some trouble on the official Sims 3 forum.  From what I hear, it's quite offensive and not something our members would want to see.  I've also heard that someone is sending out friend requests in connection to the trouble.  Please be careful when accepting friend requests on the official forum, and have extra care when visiting there for the time being.  It's so bad that there are rumors it may shut down until it gets back under control.

Thanks for the warning Pam.
I guess with something that big, things can get ugly and out of control. So glad we have a good staff base here that wouldn't allow trouble to fester and grow. Just one of the reasons I'm happy to park myself here.

Me too.  I only go there to see what the daily deal is.  Thanks for the warning, Pam.

Thank you for the warning Pam. I actually heard a warning on the official Facebook page, about someone posting this offensive content, so I told them to join our forum in the wall post instead.

I have a feeling they're taking care of it though. I'm a lurker, mostly for Sims 3 store items, and gifting purposes, and Liam keeps coming up. So Liam in the picture, is a good sign.  :)

Yeah, I wonder if we'll get more members because of this.  It seems a lot of people over there are fed up with this stuff happening.

Funny, I thought that when you mentioned them possibly shutting down temporarily. If they were to do that, we might get an influx of people looking for answers to their Sim problems.

I'll be spreading our link, next person who complains. In fact, I think I will go over there right now, on the official Sims 3 forum, and tell them, this forum will never tolerate that sort of behavior, in a million years.  :)

Never mind about this post. Just reread Pam's post and some posts there.

Wow that's a big bad problem. So to everyone reading this, looks like we might get a large amount of members soon. Just no posting bad "things" and we'll come out the best because of this. :)

Be careful with that, Jeana.  We don't want to attract the person(s) who are causing the trouble.  Making a claim like that could be just the thing to make him/her come here to test it.

Thank you for posting this Pam. I'm now checking my email every single day to see if I get weird requests. I reject people who aren't on here or who I don't know personally, anyway.

The person causing this long line of troubles for well over a year has been suspended yesterday as reported by the Simmers Aware group who have been very active in the fight against this person. Nearly all of the members of this group have been harassed by this troublemaker; the troll has even gone as far to reveal people's e-mail addresses and phone numbers.

I don't know if it's fine to post a direct link to the blog post announcing this. Please send me a personal message if you want to know more information. I know this because I'm an active member of the community and have been in contact with the members of the Simmers Aware group.

EA treats the forum just like they treat the game. Both have lots of bugs and glitches, which act only to the benefit of trolls and spammers.

I'm glad they caught him. I read about it in Bluebellflora's blog. Hopefully he'll learn a lesson from this and won't be back.
