My favourite EP so far is Generations. It is the one that I was bounding happy about when it first came out, on the surface it doesn't appear to add very much but for me at least it is the gel that makes everything work so seamlessly.

Ambitions is my second favourite just because now my artistic sims do not appear completely work shy lol.

I love WA because it adds quirky fun. LN because in some ways it makes the stories, if you ignore the vampires that can annoying infest a whole city in a sim week (maybe not but you catch my drift), then young sims can go to a bar and meet the love of their life and get married in a club bathroom, which is far more exotic than a residential bathroom of course.

I love Pets too, it adds a whole new dynamic, mostly my Sims just get a cat right now but it's nice that they do seem to add a little realism to family life. I had a stray dog come to my porch solely to tear my newspaper up last night, which I found high amusing. It made me want to make a grumpy old man sim so he could shake his cane at the dog. lol
Everything happens for a reason, sometimes we have to wait a long time for the reason to become clear.

My favorite so far is Pets, not only because I'm an animal lover, but I really love Appaloosa Plains.  It was my favorite town until Union Cove was unveiled.  I also really like WA - getting freaked out by mummies just never gets old.   ;D

My least favorite would have to be LN - although I love the addition of vamps and celebrities, I can't stand playing Bridgeport.  It is so dreary and the subway just drives me nuts.

I thought Polls were for mods only, to collect certain information. I could be wrong though, because I wanted to start a Poll asking what they like playing Sims 3 for: Challenges, Story Telling, Movie Making, playing for fun, etc.

We used to have a rule forbidding frivilous polls because we didn't want a bunch of "Which Sim is the prettiest?" or "Should I get Late Night?" threads that didn't add anything the forum. I think it got trimmed away with a bunch of others the last time Carl streamlined the rules, but most of us moderators still follow it because it keeps the forum tidy.

This topic, however, looks potentially useful (it could help people pick what games they want). I might not be speaking for all the moderators here, but I think I'd allow a poll in this case.  :)

I did just have a look at the rules and there is nothing there about it, but I have seen polls made by non-mod members and then a mod coming along and saying that it wasn't allowed.  :-\

I think it is allowed if a mod says it's okay, though, so if a mod okays it for this thread then it should be alright, I just know that you can't just go ahead and make one yourself without asking first. :)

ah. So we have a "hidden" rule, right?
I'm just kidding, lol. But thanks anyway, for let me know this rule :D

I love the Ambitions. Specially making sculptures. And I like the Late night too because of the bars and the vampires, but Ambitions is my first love.  ;D

I hope my girlfriend won't read this.  ;D

For example, I don't like Laundry in Ambitions or Punishments in Generations, because it makes the game too realistic for my taste. I don't like laundry in the real world, so there's no need to make my Sims do it. They've had enough problems on their hands.  :P

This made me want to chuckle because I actually *really* like laundry! LOL But I am also a realistic player. Like I said in another post, I role-play through Sims 3. Late Night was one of my favorite expansions for this, because in real life I don't like clubbing at all, but with Late Night, I could sort of "experience" it. This is also what made me love University so much for Sims 2—I never got to do the dorm thing in college because I went to a community college so I LOVED role-playing as a college kid in Sims 2.

It seems I'm in the minority as far as playing like this, though. Seems most people prefer to play Sims as story writers.

In answer to the original poster's question: I haven't had a chance to play Pets and Generations extensively yet, but I think the features that Generations adds will be my favorite. Generations really caters to the role-playing aspect of gameplay.

My least favorite EP is World Adventures, only because I've had the most problems with it.

I hope this post wasn't too long! :-\

Edited to add:

Tee hee! ;D

I really like Generations for all the new things it brings to every age group. I have hardly ever got punished on Generations, unless a nosy neighbor sees me throwing parties 24/7 while the parents are out of town. I just brush my teeth and beg for forgiveness. It always works.  ;D

Definitely Pets.
Then Late Night followed by Ambitions.

World Adventures is just broken (unless EA fixed it in the last 3 months or so), otherwise that would my 2nd favourite.

Most of WA has been fixed. Photography, excavation, was all covered in the recent patch! :)

Pets, easily. For one, I have the Animal Lover trait IRL, two pets are fun to watch and interact with, and three I love Appaloosa Plains. It's the only world I've really played it because the others leave me cold. Yes, there are bugs (I've witnessed the "stutter gallop" on a Racing 10 horse today, ugh) and many of the premade breeds look either weird or downright ugly with little resemblance to their RL counterparts. But I love the EP anyway and wouldn't want to play without it.

ah. So we have a "hidden" rule, right?

Actually, this is covered explicitly under rule #2, in the part that forbids frivolous posting.  Since you can't make a poll without attaching a thread to it, a frivolous poll would be attached to a frivolous post, putting it in direct violation of rule #2.  Even when this was actually spelled out, that rule never said that polls were intended for moderator use only.

Polls were implemented to gather "useful" demographics for the forum.  Some popular polls were "What town do you prefer to play in" and "Cheats or No Cheats."  These types of polls are useful to the readers, as it gives them actual information:  a town that is more popular could have "better" townies or a more convenient layout, or using cheats might help them to avoid aspects of the game they don't like or tell them that they're not the only cheater in the community (i.e.  our beloved Esther  ;D ).

"Rate my Sim/build/world" polls or others in this vein are only useful to the person posting it, and aren't of any real value to the community and are considered frivolous.

This thread falls into the former category.  This is a question that is often asked:  "I'm going to get an expansion pack, but which one is better?"  This poll would provide some solid information on people's opinions of the various expansions.

-----

Deciding on a single expansion is a difficult choice between World Adventures and Ambitions, but Ambitions edges out WA because it brings so much more to the game.  Between the interactive careers, the skill based professions and the new skills created, this has been my favorite expansion to play.  All WA has going for it really is the Photography skill (my favorite skill in the game) and the incredible items available in the buydebug menu.  It's a tough call, but Ambitions wins.

My least favorite expansion is Pets.  Don't get me wrong:  I love this expansion, but I love them all to some extent or another.  My only issue with it is that it's already been done to some extent.  Twice.  I'm not big on movie remakes and I'm not a big fan of re-hashed video game content.  I would much prefer something completely new, but there's at least enough fresh content in Pets to make it so that I don't completely hate it.
Old forum mods never die.  We just get archived.

My favorite expanson is Pets, by far. I'm a cat lover in real life and The Sims 3 cats are just too cute! Plus, they can hunt and fish for you.

I don't really have a least favorite, but the expansion I've used the least is World Adventures. Don't get me wrong, it's got some great items and cool concepts, but the numerous bugs have made me wary of it.

My favorite one is Ambitions, for the sole presence of Simbots. I just can't help but love the tin people... Especially making them firefighters and police officers.

Actually, it's very hard to pick one. I can't remove WA as I like the martial art skill, can't remove Ambitions as I like the sculpture and the ghost hunter, can't remove Late Night as I like the grand piano although I hate the star system there, can't remove Generations as I like its items and clothes. I only removed Pets with the freezing bug but I still like horses. I'm also interested in the karaoke items in the showtime. EA just put 1 or 2 very nice stuff into each expansion pack! I really can't pick one.:(
Very hard to be escaped from Sims.
