Oh Baby!
« on: March 26, 2010, 06:56:01 PM »
So a couple weeks ago I decided to challenge myself to have as many children as possible with a single male sim.  It turned out to be pretty interesting so I thought I'd share it here. :)

I started off with the traits flirty, great kisser, charismatic, commitment issues, and party animal.  His life time want was Silver Tongue, Silver Fingers, and he had a career in the political track.  I decided not to go with the heartbreaker LTW because I didn't want to bother with going steady or breaking up with anyone.  I kept all of the females at Romantic Interest, and that worked out pretty good.

I also made him green, I should have named him Pollination Technician #9 but didn't think of that until later.  :)

It was certainly focused on relationship building, and the charisma helped with that.  The most challenging part for me was keeping track of who was pregnant and who wasn't and who's household was already full, etc.  In the end he had 68 children, mothered by a dozen or so townies, and there were several current pregnancies when he died.

One interesting part, shortly before the end of my sim's life there was a pop up in the upper right that said "The Alto's have decided to leave town.  I hope you haven't loaned them any books or money!"  And then I looked at his family tree and the children he fathered in the Alto house weren't greyed out or anything.  I should have tried to call one of them just to see if I could, but I didn't.  I've never had a message like that pop up before, even with my legacies that have gone on for generations so thought it was pretty interesting.  Maybe because some of the people moving were related?

So anyway, it was really fun.  Really boosted the town's population that's for sure!  At the end I never saw any pregnancies except for the ones I was responsible for.  hee hee!

Did you see tons of green skinned people all over town?  I'd love to see a picture of that!

I would say about 60% of the kids had green skin.

Another thing that was kind of interesting, NO grandchildren at all!  I'm thinking this probably had to do with the lack of potential mates for the kids, since there were so many 1/2 siblings, along with the over population of the town.

Also at the end it was REALLY hard to find ANY females to make more babies with.  In the middle part of the challenge I would have about 5 or 6 pregnancies going at once.  But at the end I could only find 2 or 3 sims of the right age and who didn't already have full houses or was a relation.

Thanks for sharing, I have considered trying a challenge like this as well.

I've had several families move out of town too, (with the same message box) but I'm not sure why. It seemed like several left like a day or two apart. I was confused about that. I still am. But, suddenly new Sims were showing up in my game pretty much at the same pace as the others had left. I guess it isn't so uncommon after reading several posts here on the forum under different threads.

It's all part of the new and improved Story Progression, catlvr.  Sims leave town, move around town, and new ones come to town much more than when the game was first released.

Oh, Ok. That's good to know. I was beginning to think I was doing something to cause the townies to leave. So what if Story Progression was turned off, would that still happen anyway?

Probably not, but then nothing would happen in the town at all.  No marriages, no babies, nothing.  I never turn Story Progression or Free Will off.  It's just way too amusing to see what's going to happen.  :D

Thanks. :)  I'm actually toying with the idea of trying this again, it was pretty fun. :)

Do you have World Adventures? I bet 3 additional countries could really increase your potential partner pool (PPP?). I actually created a Sim to carry out a challenge like this, but it just seems so heartless! I get too attached to my lovers, and I feel bad for abandoning them while they're with child. Yes, I know it is just a video game, but they're such incompetent parents without my intervention...won't you think of the children?  ;)

WA certainly has opened up the dating pool.

I have never thought any of my Sims were good parents, in any incarnation of the game. They either pay no attention to the kids or they pay too much attention to them. Let the baby sleep! leave the toddler alone!

I really don't feel bad for the nooboos.  All of them aged up to adulthood without my intervention.

I'm sure you could have even more babies by traveling, but I've had major glitches in my game by having foreign children so I didn't wanna go there.

I am not too bothered but I like the toddler stage to get a head start in some of the Skills that will effect their future jobs and 'hobbies' etc.  ;)

Perhaps, but what's the point of doing all that work for a Sim you're never going to play?  At least, I never had any intention of doing so.
