I have installed UC successfully, but am unable to play the world.  I've gotten as far as placing the lot and family I'd like to play, but as soon as I click on the checkmark to play, the the game crashes..."game has stopped working".  I've read the post #46 about the UCstart file in the saves, (screenshot shows 3 files) but I don't have those files in my saves folder.  Is there anywhere else I should be looking for them.

I can play all the worlds.  I have all the EP.  Like many I experience the Error 12 and laging problem.  I keep the cache files deleted and ".bad" files cleaned out.  I check every time I startup the game.  I have a gaming PC computer, 4 mg ram, and a new fast graphics card, and lots of space.  The computer is clean with bare minimun programs running in the background.  No real technical problems.

Once I find these files, how do they work?  I would appreciate any help with this problem.  Many seem to be having it.  This is my first post as I am a new member to the forum as of today.  I look forward to a rewarding experience with this group.

Hi all,  I am still unable to play Union Cove.  I am at a loss as to how to proceed.  I would appreciate any help on this issue.  Please see my earlier post #62, just above this one.  I've also tried to enter an existing lot and play with that, same result...crash.  I've tried to uninstall/reinstall, and some of the other suggestions listed above to no avail.  If anyone could help me out, I'd love to play this world.  Thanks in advance.

First off, before I start nagging...

The world is wonderful, and y'all deserve more kudos than I can give for making it. That said, I have a problem. I can load up the UC just fine, and start a new game (I have all EPs & SPs). I can save the game just fine. However, when I try to load a saved game, the game stops responding around 45% of the load bar. Only way to exit is to end task in task manager. Doing so damages something in the Sims, as any other attempt to load up any saved game (and I do mean any, even if it's a 5s into the game save with Sunset Valley) ends up displaying "A serious error has occurred... " thereby rendering playing any save game on any world utterly useless. This occurs even when a completely clean install of Sims 3, no cc, perfectly up to date (using Origin) after I've attempted to play a UC save.

My computer is 3.2 GHz dual core, 6 GB RAM and 6800-series ATI gfx card. The problem thus should not be the computer lacking the juice to run UC properly on default settings.

I'm sorry for not being here often enough, RL is taking a lot od simming time. That said, I'll try to help as much as I can.

Wench, thank you for telling us those issues, we knew about trash can, and now we fixed the chess tables too. I'm in a process of preparing updated version (there were some repetative issues with Ingleses family) and hope to share them as soon as I playtest this updated version.

mashie, welcome to the forum  :) For everyone not having all EP's, you need to follow these steps:
1.Download Union Cove installation file
2.Install Union Cove (open it when download is finished, or doubleclick on downloaded file)
3.Download .zip file
4.Extract saved folder from .zip file into your Saves folder (MyDocuments/ElectronicArts/Sims3/Saves)
5.Start the game from saved game UnionCoveStart in main menu

Beardoux, welcome :) Since you have all EP's you don't need saved file, and since you're able to load it, issue is with graphic settings being too high or your PC preventing the game to use the resources you have. It is reccomended to have at least 6gb of RAM and nice graphic card to play it without issues, but with settings on low, you should be able to play it with less recourses. I put everything on low and can play it without any issues, and save it, and reload the save with 2gb of RAM. It is a wonderful but very big and detailed world, bigger than EA worlds, (and having all lots and features from all EP's is making it hard to play on settings that EA worlds are playable for many of us). There are some tips in this tread and in a gude where you downloaded the UC, that might help you with crashing and lagging.

ChemicalGreen, welcome to you too :) It is strange that you get that issue with all saves, and I'm sorry for it, it is frustrating to deal with. I'd try "factory reset" which is fast way of reseting the game without full uninstall. Link is here. hope it helps.

Anushka,  thanks so much for replying.  I'll give it another go with the graphics set to low.  I was trying to figure out another problem and it was suggested to put my graphics to as high as possible which on all the other worlds works well.  I may even have to invest the the 6mb of ram.
Looking forward to playing this world.

You're welcome! I'd like to hear what problem might be solved with all settings on high! In either case, there are few things might be worth trying too. Turning on DEP for all Sims 3 exe files, and this trick by Samoht:
Just a tip for if anyone wants to try any solution they can - I solved my random crashing by turning off Verticle Sync in my NVIDIA Control Panel under 3D Settings and now it hardly crashes, seems it only does due to the internet and the game being minimized.

Hope you get it to work :)

Hi there,  In a nutshell, I thought some of my lifetime rewards weren't working.  In particular, eye candy.  I only have one sim with that reward and I assumed it was somehow working in the background but never noticed anything (not knowing about the icon over others).  Then I started a new town, he got married and the icon showed up in her tray with the message "name has that glow about her that other sims just can't miss".  I read this to mean she somehow had the eye candy naturally, not getting it from him.  So I was misunderstanding it.  Since, I've gone back to the first town and taken him out and about I have only seen the icon twice over other sims.  Seems infrequent to me.  Also someone said I should see sparkles around him when he's been noticed.  No sparkles.  I run my graphics very high but found my sim detail was at 3.  I put it to 4 but still no sparkles.  My graphics are all very high.  Oh well...

As for UnionCove...(what I don't do for my little people) I had my computer upgraded.  New faster processor, motherboard, and 8 gb ram.  Set my graphics to medium and low and still cannot play this world.  You mention turning on DEP for sims3 exe files.  What is that and how do I do this.  I will say though, with my "new computer", all other aspects of the game (excepting freezing problem & Error 12 which I believe are game related)  run significantly better.  I'm pleased.
thanks bear

Here is the link to wiki about DEP.

And here is a tip about solving error 12 and other issues if you have more than 2GB, again on sim wiki.

What do you mean it opens the launcher?  Are you clicking on the world file to open the game?

Hmm.  Well, this is what I do:  I installed the Union Cove save game file to my Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 3> Saves folder or something like that, I read the directions, it's in there.

Then I started my Sims game like I always do, using the little icon that says Sims 3 Generations (in my case).

The game loads.  On that screen I see a generally indistinct Saved Game.  I click it and it loads.

Is that what you did?
