Dakell looks great, very artistic!  He looks like he was born to stand before an easel... I wonder why that would be? *Laughs*

:D

Your bar room is very pretty, I love the colors and curtains you used, it makes me think of mint juleps and ladies fanning themselves while sitting in comfy chairs.

Thank you!  It's actually just the far end of the dining room  -- huh, now you've got me thinking I ought to do a tour of their house soon! :)

Chapter Forty-Five: Prom Night:

So Devon and I kept talking.  We talked about my family.

It was hard to dodge some of her questions, but I think I did alright.  I don't like dodging what she asks about my family.  I'd like to be able to tell her – to tell -anyone-.  But I know better.  I don't think I'd be believed.

The rest of my family is . . . well, to be honest, rather oblivious.  They're wrapped up in their own tasks, or their own games.  I don't think they realize just how much people are starting to ask.

I can't get too mad at them, though.  They are family, after all.

But. . . well, there are a few things that they don't realize quite yet.

I called Devon over,

and we talked.

And while we talked, I steadied my nerves, and asked Devon if she had a boyfriend.

The answer was no, and while I still had my courage, I asked her if she'd go to the prom with me – and she said yes!

I didn't want to let her go running off, so I talked her into a game of hopscotch.

After one game, though, she said she had to run off and get ready for Prom – she seemed just as excited as I felt!

So, off I went to prom.

I was named Prom King, and Devon and I officially became an item!

All that, and I don't think anyone in the family knew that I had a date.

They will when the Prom picture goes up in the museum, though. . .

Aww, what a cute prom photo pose, I haven't seen that one before!

Dakell and Devon look cute together, and their names are alliterative, so I approve most heartily.

I hadn't either! :D

They are a cute couple.  And I'm glad my dynasty members can actually find dates while in high school.  It was rather annoying that my town was so depopulated.

I hadn't even thought about their names being alliterative, though -- Devon was just the prettiest sim that I could pair him up with. :D

Chapter Forty-Six: Far Too Short a Time:

Alright, alright.  So maybe I need some more practice for working with ice.  Just. . . just don't laugh!

But I think my alligator turned out pretty well, don't you?

Lets see.  Mom's still writing for most of the day.

but she still takes time out for Dad.  He's an old man now, and not as fast as he once was. . .

Why are my words prophetic?  That's just not fair.

I call my father an old man, and -this- happens?

No!  Curse you, Death!  You, who can deny my own -Father- one last wish!

I will never speak ill of him again.

Father. . .

Chapter Forty-Seven: Knight and a New Day:

So Grandpa Nickolas, still mourning dad, decided to bring a new life into the family.

Meet Knight.   Grandpa picked him up from the shelter and brought him home.

Of course, the poor thing immediately ran for the food bowl.

But, whatever Grandpa's motives, I have to admit that Knight's pretty darn cute. . .

though Grandpa's the only one who can really play with him right now.

I think Knight's not totally sure about the rest of this family yet, but that's alright.

Sometimes I think he's still figuring out Grandpa, too.

Then Grandpa pulls out the brush, and I'm sure I can hear Knight purring – even when I'm outside!

And when Grandpa's busy with his Nectar, Knight amuses himself in our pond.

I'm just wondering how long it will take him to catch something bigger then a minnow. . .

Aww, cute kitty pictures, good job with those, it can be hard to get the timing and distances right to make them that cute.

Poor mortals, their deaths always make Dynasties a little sad.  But at least he did live a good life with the lady he loved. RIP Ho Sung (that was his name right, I'm so bad with names.)

Thank you! Yeah, the pets (especially the small pets like turtles and birds) seem really hard to get good pictures of.

Yeah, that was Ho Sung.  He wasn't around that long, but that doesn't mean that he's less important. :(

Grrr. . . So I haven't played for a bit, and when I went back to my file, something horrible has happened!

I'd gotten them a new cat.  Now, that cat doesn't show on the family screen on the main menu, and when I go to interact with the cat, my game crashes.

Unfortunately, my only viable backup is pretty far back, and I'll loose all my work on Gen 5 (who has currently just become a YA, I've still got a backlog of screenshots to go through).  I don't want to go that far back.

I'm going to see if I can somehow reset or delete the kitten. (I don't want to but it's better that then having all this lost).

Edit:  So I managed to find a way to delete the kitten.  (Don't worry, the kitten in question isn't Knight.)  Sad, since it was a cute little thing, but it looks like my file is good now!

Edit #2: My file is better, but it still crashed.  I'm going to reload and see if that's a one-time thing, also clear my cache files and such.    But since I still have a huge backlog of pics, I'll try and update real soon! :)

Edit # 3:  Ok, so new day, and so far my file hasn't crashed yet.  I'm hopeful!

Edit #4:  So after getting all my sims to bed, my file crashed again.  It's inching along and crashing inbetween, but I'll keep trying. . .

Thank you.  I've been trying, but it keeps crashing come morning, and Elisha keeps glitching out while trying to harvest her plants.  *sigh*

Let's hope things get better.

I'm hopeful.  I've gotten over some pretty frustrating glitches before, so I'm hoping I can again.

The game is loading as I type, so hopefully a new day will help my file.   I'll clear my cache files again, and if it doesn't work this time, I'm going to go through my mods again (I just updated both the game and my mods to a new patch, and I thought I updated them, but it's possible I missed one.)

Edit: So a) I found a backup save where I don't loose much, and b) whatever's causing this crashing, it's not my mods.  Even on a clean game, my game's crashing when they try and interact with the cat.

So, I'll try an uninstall/reinstall. *sigh*  I don't have the patience to do that tonight, though.

Edit #2:  So I'm starting by just uninstalling and reinstalling Pets, because that seems to be the problem, and that fixed my problems the last time my game got cranky.   In doing so, I found out that I wasn't on the latest patch version, so I'm putting that in too.

Here's hoping!

Edit #3: So the reinistall fixed the problem with the cats.  I now have the gardening bug that came with patch 1.39, though, but that seems to be a workound of sell and re-plant all the plants that are stuck at the 'harvestable' stage.  Worst case scenario, I lose the money trees, and I don't need those anyway.  Give me some time to salvage Elisha's garden, and I should be back in business!

:D OOh!  Treasure!  Is it shiny?

 ;D  Thank you.

I've also discovered that this bug doesn't seem to effect money trees, so while it's going to take a bit of time to fix Elisha's garden, my game is back and solid!

Chapter Forty-Eight: More New Love:

So, with the addition of Knight, life continued on as it always had.  Mom wrote,

I sculpted,

. . . and Knight slept on the kitchen counter.

He really was a bit of a brat, but Great-Aunt Celeste liked him a lot  -- and I have to admit, he is a cutie.

He tried to make himself useful by hunting a bird,

but all he got for his trouble was a mouthful of feathers, and a flea bath from Dad.

Dad, however, decided that Knight needed someone of his own species to keep him company; so we got another cat from the shelter!

Meet Iila.

I think Knight's very glad to have a friend.
