Opportunities Problem
« on: March 22, 2010, 05:31:40 PM »
Ok... so the only reason this is under World Adventures is because whenever I have my Sim, Handy Manny (heh, yes from the TV show), get an opportunity, say: "Bring one Painting to France for yada yada comparison." I've made every type of painting (and it doesn't specify which one he needs to make) yet I'm in France right now, and it still says he doesn't have the right thing in his inventory. The same thing goes for a book in Egypt. I just don't get it. Anyone have any suggestions. Ok, though here is the catch:

My Sim is named Handy Manny for just that specific reason, he isn't my main Sim for the neighborhood I am in. I decided to pick Sunset Valley but I wanted to add and change a few things, he is to do that purpose, but I thought I should have fun with him anyways and do some opportunities. Anyways by this I mean I leave all needs on static and use money cheats so I can build a Nursery/Library... and Dojo type thing too, and use his handiness to make sure everything it set to "unbreakable" (don't you just hate when on a community lot and something breaks when you need it?!)

Anyways, the reason he is really there is so he can gather materials for the place I decided to fix up, like getting books from Paris and China for poor under-privileged children who cannot afford to go to such places and want to learn the photography skill from a book... So maybe it's my cheats but I would really like to know if anyone else had this problem too and if there is a way to fix it. (E.g. turn off the cheats.)

I had the same problem, and the only cheat I had used (a while before) was the Motherlode because I hate not being able to have a good house from the word go!
I ended up just cancelling the painting, it never came up again funnily enough. But I did complete the book opportunity I had, no problems with that, although the only difference may have been I already had a book in my inventory when I got the opportunity.

I think the only way is to cancel the opportunity and wait, like serendipizzy said above, for it to come up again or another similar one. It seems that there are unlimited amount of 'bring x amount of paintings to x place/person'

Try hovering over the opportunity tab and you will get a better description of what you need to do. I think the painting needs to be worth a certain amount of money.

I have had the same problem.  When I hover over it it says, bring a painting worth 0 amount, doesn't say how big or dollar amount.  I took all three sizes worth a small amount to a large amount and it still said do not have the correct items, so I just usually get rid of the opportunity.

That's what I ended up doing, thank you all for your insight.  :)
