Little building help please
« on: October 08, 2009, 08:29:10 AM »
Hi everyone, I have a little question about the building mode could you tell me how to cover all walls in a room with a paint because I am getting bored with having to do every single wall.  It's annoying.  I want to know how to cover all walls in a room and how to cover all floor in a room so I won't waste lots of time doing it the annoying way.  If you don't know what I mean:  when you choose a paint or a floor for a room, I want to know what to press to cover all of it.

Shouldnt you like explore every option first so as to get a hang of the game?
Anyways, there is this handy button below the wall painting button which is the fill all button.
Use fill all button, chose the design click on the wall and it will paint all the walls in the same room.
Same goes for the floor tiles.

Also, you can just hold shift while aiming for the wall/floor.
That will have the same effect.

It was a while before I noticed that handy fill button. Thanks for the tip on holding shift! My first Sims 3 experience was annoying because I couldn't see where the room was unfinished. It was of course above the door, and the only way to see it or fill it was to raise the walls. I skip that entirely and use fill area now. It's beautiful how it does only that one room.

You'll eventually come to where you can throw out a basic Sim home in just a couple minutes.

And in case you change your mind about something: Holding Shift + Ctrl while clicking deletes an entire wall/floor.

Yes it even obeys Control + Z ... if you make a mistake, press this and it will undo the last building action.

Most annoying about this is when you have a balcony of some sort.
If you 'decorate' the outside of the house it'll skip the part between the fence...
Took a while for me to figure that one out  ;)
