Relationships grow on their own?
« on: December 30, 2011, 04:18:34 AM »
I haven't seen discussion of this one before: my child sim went over to the Bedlingtons in Appaloosa Plains to hang out with their child, Lynn.  They talked a while, played tag, and talked some more.  It got dark, so Paidrag (my sim) went home.  While he was sleeping, his relationship bar with Lynn kept going up.  They became friends, good friends, then best friends.  The bar is now maxed out, as though they were talking telepathically the whole time he was sleeping (and then eating breakfast, which is when it finally maxed out).

Anyone else experience anything like this?  I'm not complaining.  Lynn is the only girl his age in town, so I sense great things for them in the future, but still, that caught me a little off guard.

I've expirienced this before, but it's usually only from upper acquaintance, to frend, to lower good friend. It doesn't go up to best friend that often. Also, the sim's picture blinks when it goes up a notch, but this might be normal.  But what's weird is if you raise it with "testingcheatsenabled true", then it won't do that. I suppose it's in the game's coding, like it might encourage you to spend more time with the sim, and not just go all the way up to best friends in one day?

Hope this might have helped no matter how rushed it was.

I've seen something like that related to playing tag - it increases the relationship bar pretty dramatically, but sometimes not until the game does the midnight processing. I've never watched closely enough to see if it went up in one big leap, or in little steps.

I've seen this before in my game too. The "jump" in the relationship always happens overnight too. And I think it's also only with kids (teens too maybe?), never adult sims. A bug for sure, and not a new one...

Cathy, that was my exact first thought.  When they got done playing tag, they didn't have much of a relationship boost, so I figured the game was just correcting for it.  But it didn't happen in one fell swoop; it was gradual over about 14-15 hours of sim time.

Well I did it again.

It definitely has something to do with playing tag.  Paidrag played tag with a kid after school, and the same thing happened.  Apparently the activity is so much fun, just reminiscing about it leads to a relationship boost!

There's a glitch with playing tag that has been around for a long time. Sometimes after you stop playing tag, the other sim will think you are still playing. Your relationship will slowly increase, usually becoming friends overnight and best friends by the next day. Playing tag is a powerful way to make lots of friends and complete some of the Charisma skill challenges (20 friends and 10 best friends).
