Moved house and lost objects

Help!

I just moved my family to a new house in Sunset Valley (spent 5 hours building a new home) then found half the contents of the fridge in my family inventory.  After labouriously putting all 364 grapes, life fruit, plasma fruit etc. back in the fridge, I start placing my other bits and pieces from the family inventory and shock and horror!!!  I had lost almost all the contents of a treasure chest with my WA stuff.  I am left with 1 x tent, 1 x shower-in-a-can and the Tears of Horus.  Missing dozens of dried food, permican, potions of courage, etc.  I found Pangu's Axe, Escape Dust and Sands of Understanding in buydebug.  Is there any way to get back my Mummy Snacks, Master Thief's coin, Sultans Tabernacle and the Partnership Certificates.  If I travel without them, will I still be regarded as level 3?

I have moved lots of Sims since I started playing but this is the first time I have encountered this problem.

I experienced such disaster once. Most items (including gems & metal ingots) inside treasure boxes lost after moving lot. I don't get any method to retrieve the lost item. The way to prevent is moving all items from treasure boxes to Sims' inventory before moving.

However, I think the visa level will not be affected.
Now I realize playing the Sims 3 on Mac is playing the game of installation and uninstallation...

Thanks Skybaker... I guess I'm going to spend a lot of time soon going back to WA destinations to get back my stuff.
