My Sim can't make the pet food?

She's level 10 in the cooking skill. Is there a certain way you make it, I thought all you had to do was click the fridge.

Yep I have 3 pets. I installed the game yesterday I got it for Christmas.

What do you see when you click on the refrigerator with the cook?  Is the Make Gourmet Pet Food option completely missing or grayed out?  If it's grayed out, hover over it and see what it says.

It's missing all it says are the Sim food options.

Try and start a new game. I read somewhere that sims in old files don't have the option. I don't know this for sure, I always start games when I install a expansion. :)

Try starting a new game and get a Sim to at least level 1 in Cooking skill, get a pet, and then try again to click the refrigerator.  This will at least tell us if it's isolated to just this game file or if it's a global issue throughout your game.

Try having your sim watch the cooking channel for awhile and see if she can learn a pet recipe.

I had the same problem with one of my sims. Jeff is level 10 cooking but is from a game before pets that I move into Appaloosa Plains and he didn't have the option to make pet food.
Yesterday he was watching the cooking channel with his new wife ,Mollie, and he learned the recipe for chicken pet food. Now he has the option to make gourmet pet food but the only option is chicken pet food.
On the other hand, Mollie who just made level 1 cooking has the option to make gourmet pet food and she can make chicken, duck, beef and fish pet food and horse granola.
I've checked the bookstore and library for recipe books for Jeff but haven't found any.  So I guess I'll have Jeff watching the cooking channel and see if he can learn the rest of the recipes.

From my experience any sims made before pets installed and have got any cooking skill before that cant get to learn pet food recipe-though havent tried watching tv...
But if a sim made before pets installed have no cooking skill and then once installed start learning cooking they learn it straight away at level 1
