ADVENTURE: Tourist Brochure - help!
« on: December 21, 2011, 05:12:10 PM »
So I wanted to do the adventure "Tourist Brochure" in Egypt, but there is a huge problem. In the adventure your sim gets asked to take a photo of a specific item like a rubber pile or a treasure chest. I was asked to take a photo of a treasure chest, which I did, I even tried taking loads of photos of different treasure chests, looking at the photos, putting them in my inventory - but still no progress - it still says I have to take the photo (0/1 photo taken)..

I've read on the official sims 3 website forum that other people experience the same problem but have not found a solution to it yet either,

Has anyone on this board experienced this problem? Any solutions or is this a bug?

Merry christmas!

Sorry; but, I've never had trouble finishing that one; so, you may have a bug.

Yeah, it might be.. but others some to experience this problem as well. There is a thread about it at the official sims 3 website forum, but I don't know if I am allowed to put a link up to that page here.

There have been problems with the Photography skill, but the most recent patch was supposed to fix them.  Is your game updated to the most recent patch?

I haven't updated to the latest patch, because I'm afraid it is going to cause problems with the game I'm currently playing.. I've had the family for a few generations and don't want to mess it up..

In my opinion, the latest patch is absolutely the best. How about just backing up the current game you have now, patching up and then if any problems arrise just patch back down and play from your backup so you don't lose anything? That's what I do with my legacy. :) The most recent patch hasn't brought any new major problems, I don't think, and it has fixed a lot of the current buggy stuff, including problems with travelling and photography. You can read more about it here. :)

Thank you for your advice! I did install the patch and the photography problem is now solved. I now, instead, am suffering from the travel bug that I've never had before, that is, my traveling sims have gone invisible..

That's really strange, that very problem was supposed to be fixed with the patch! :o I had that, before this patch was installed, and I just kept trying taking different sims to different locations, etc. and eventually it did work. :) Not guaranteed though. :(

It's a bit of topic, I've written about this in an other thread, but my guess is the traveling bug is related to buying a vacation home. Because that was when the problem started. So I went back to an earlier save and took the same trip (same duration, same family members) only this time I didn't buy a vacation home and had no problem with them disappearing or turning invisible. Did you notice any difference related to buying vacation homes?

I had the same problem but I figured it out. I took several photos of the mummy I picked the one I liked best and moved it to my inventory and then deleted the rest off my camera. As soon as I deleted the other photos it let me deliver them. It worked the same with the unloved sims in egypt. So I'm sure the floor trap & treasure chest

I noticed the difference if I bought a premade vacation home versus one I downloaded or made myself. The premade ones cause glitches. I have had my sims travel a lot and now NEVER buy a premade home. For each country, I have downloaded homes (from other sites) that haven't caused glitches. I've been using these same homes since WA came out. My sims party in them with the locals!
