Might as well toss this one out there because it came to me randomly, but a Decade House. Basically, a specified number of rooms (Of defined types, like bathroom etc), each assigned a decade (Or time period) I was thinking at very least Victorian age, 1950's, 1970's, and Far future

I love the idea of a "era themed" house, I would love to have a bathroom like the roman baths, a sitting room like the victorian time period, maybe a futuristic office, a medieval/princess themed bedroom (canopy bed!!)  And that's for real life...

It be good for the Sims as well!

 :D

Are all contests Vanilla or can we use stuff packs and EPs too? I'd love to put up entries into contests, haven't played for weeks now, built only. I hardly ever do play the actual game as in play my characters. I just build. But I am not familiar with what our general contest formats are.

I suggest you take a read of the Building Contest Rules as they answer your questions. If you have more questions, I suggest PMing samoht and Lilygirl with your queries.

A few of you seem to really like the idea of the Decade House, it does sound really interesting, so there may be one on the horizon.  ;)

Unless stated otherwise you can use all Expansions and Stuff Packs that were available before the Contest Started. The only time a new EP or SP would be banned is if it comes out half way through a Contest. As Gogo said read the rules and instructions and also the Tutorials, a look at some of the closed Contests may also help.  :)

I'm just wondering but this thread seems to be fairly active yet the same people are entering each Contest, is there a particular reason that is down to the Contests that other people are not taking part? I there is then please let me know so that I can work on it.  :)

I myself don't enter them because I cannot build to save my own life.

I'd love to participate, but my internet connection won't let me upload anything to the forum, and the work around is to much hassle to deal with. I'm hoping that it will resolve itself after I move, and hopefully I will be able to take part again.

I don't enter because I'm still learning to build and I still need to figure out how to do landscaping. Also I've never done a commercial building...ever.

I have an idea or two for some contests. Maybe a graveyard for the contest running around Halloween? What about a hotel/motel with a restaurant and rooms?

I really enjoy taking part in the Building Contests. It's a real shame that one had to canceled due to lack of interest. This has made me quite sad. The only reason I didn't take part in the last Long Building Contest is the fact that Supernatural had just come out and I wasn't too familiar with it yet plus I haven't really played with occults. I'm really sorry that I didn't make an effort and it added to the fact that you had to cancel it.

The very first contest I participated in was a commercial building. I had never done one before but I still had fun doing it plus had learned so much from it. Every contest is a new challenge plus a ton of fun. I have already learned so much form doing them plus it also helped me a great deal on becoming more creative. When you have to build on a tight budget it really helps to develop your creativity. When I finish posting my entry I'm always looking forward to the next upcoming one.

I really hope more people show a little more interest in the Building Contest . I would be very sad if this one also had to be cancelled. I always look forward to seeing other entries being posted . It makes it more fun and challenging. Don't be afraid to enter. I still have plenty to learn on my buildings and lots to learn  on my landscaping too. Every contest you enter helps make you that much better . Come and join the fun and challenges. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.  :)

I didn't realize building contests had been cancelled!  I was finally getting organized to participate (and my real life was going to let me!).  :(  Perhaps only have a few large contests over the year instead of lots of little ones, then maybe people will be able to see and participate more.  Sometimes when there is so many choices then the talent is spread thin and instead of 10 people doing one you have 2 people doing 5... if that makes sense.

I hope that maybe after a break there will be contests again, there are such wonderful lots built!

:)

Only the Long Contests were cancelled. On average the Shorter Contests had a higher participation than the Longer Contests. The normal (two week long) contests are still running and one just began this weekend.

Oh good!  As soon as I get home to my Simming computer I will look more into things.  I just need to figure out how to post to the exchange (now I have a photo account) and get started!!

(And earlier I had mentioned a 10x10 mansion... I managed to do this HAHA! $120,000 dollars later, garage, activity rooms x2, three single beds (no bunk beds room for those), one crib (room for more), one double bed, two bathrooms, dining room, kitchen, sitting room, office, and a bit of landscaping!  :D)

@ladybug I totally agree. When I first entered, my builds were terrible. Now I feel that I've improved dramatically to the point I actually win a contest. The contests are always heaps of fun and it is great building experience trying out the new types of buildings. It would be great for more people to enter as it is definitely much more fun when there are other people who have entered.

I've thought of another idea. Maybe a house built for a technophobe or one for a hydrophobic. That would been no electronics or water respectively. Would be cool to see what people could come up with.
