What about landscaping only competitions? House is already built and decorated, but the landscaping is a mess and needs redoing.

I think that would be a great idea.  :)

How about "The Perfect Workspace" where we have to design our idea of our perfect workplace based on TS3 careers. (non-rabbithole). I'll explain. Say I choose to design the ideal restaurant. I would design the whole thing, the only rabbitholes allowed could be Subways. If I design an office, it would be the entire thing, boardrooms, offices, breakrooms...

I'd love to do a beach resort, I'm itching to do one. It's really hot here at the moment so I'm in the mood for pools and cocktail bars!

Also how about a hospital?  :D

Is there a thread to post comments about the houses in the building contest?

I have really enjoyed looking at all of them.  I downloaded all of the mini houses the other day.  Today, I downloaded most of the storybook houses.  I downloaded some characters and made a few on my own.  I wanted to share a picture.

Prince Charming invited Ariel and Eric to a party.  They ate dinner with Rapunzel and Cinderella.

On a side note,  Max Skills was also at the party.  He lives in the winning Llama house.  ;D

Thanks for all of the great work.  You are truly an inspiration.  Maybe I will join one of the contests one day.

P.S.  If this is in the wrong place, please move it.  Thanks.

No, we don't allow comments about the entries while the contest is running. That is why threads are locked. Once the contest is over and a winner is announced, the various threads will be unlocked and people can leave comments about the houses (if the builder has agreed to have comments left)

What about a Lunar Lakes community lots contest?

I don't know if this has been said, but what about creating the various rabbit hole buildings as playable buildings.  What would the Buisness Center really look like if you could open it up?  what about the criminal warehouse, science center, police station, bistro, grocery store, even the cemetery?   ("moveobjects on" could easily place the actual building in an underground location to make these buildings still rabbit holes and playable).

Now I've said all that I'm interested to create my own!

It can be a real challenge to build a decent first home with just the 16.5k alotted to a single sim at the beginning of a game, near impossible if you want to start on a "beautiful vista" lot.  these lots start at around 6k.  So how about seeing what people can produce with just 10k for a single newly created sim?

I would suggest parameters include: must be built on foundations, must have a seperate bedroom, and must have all essential furnishing basics with a modicum of comfort.  (ie: a bed which is good enough to not give the "bad night's sleep" moodlet, a cooker which does not give "uneven cooking" and a fidge which does not give "tastes of fridge" to leftovers would be nice additional, optional parameters)

The house could be built on any small lot so that it can be moved to the users lot of choice.

Wow, you've just made me realise we haven't done many starter homes in the Contests, certainly not this year anyway!

I'd like to see some more community lot competitions. Particularly things like lounges, dive bars, dance clubs etc

Another idea could be for someone to create a shell (or take one from the shells thread) and for people to decorate it without changing the shape etc.

What about landscaping only competitions? House is already built and decorated, but the landscaping is a mess and needs redoing.

And finally what about some competitions on a specific theme? Eg: fairies, occults, celebrities etc

We'll most likely do more Dance Club venues as well as interior decorating. I like the Landscaping contest idea, that's quite clever and unique! The fairies and occults things will be around as well. We've got to try and leave a sufficient gap between similar contests though and since we just had the Storybook contest the fairies thing would be a bit in your face if we had one of those soon.

I think this would be merged with the idea Cndneh suggested on the Rabbit Hole builds as your idea would be the whole point of that but by putting the Rabbit Hole in the basement we get a fully functioning, good looking rabbit hole lot.

I'd love to do a beach resort, I'm itching to do one. It's really hot here at the moment so I'm in the mood for pools and cocktail bars!

Also how about a hospital?  :D

Sounds like you're in luck then? If you're in the mood for Pools and Cocktail Bars then I think you'll enjoy the Summer Sunshine.

What about a Lunar Lakes community lots contest?

If we do that then it won't be for a while as Lunar Lakes is still Store Content whereas Barnacle Bay and Hidden Springs are now in Stores and like Stuff Packs. There will most likely be a Sci-Fi style contest in the future though.  ;)

:D

Funny you should mention that, I have my own list of ideas and that was one I put on it a few weeks ago after I was messing around making a Police Station - a modern build with the actual rabbit-hole in the basement. I also made a City Hall for Egypt when I was trying out the Nrass traveller Mod and tried doing that but the game crashed... Uhg or what? This is one of my current favourites, we've got the next few Long Contests booked up though - with one of my favourite ones to come...

At the end of July or beginning of August can we have a sports themed one to tie in with the Olympics?  :D Maybe we could do our own llama stadium?

I was writing down some ideas that have been floating around in my head lately and oddly enough I thought of the Olympics - suppose I should with my Geography GCSE Exam being on it (Seriously can we Brits escape this event!). I have a few ideas, they'll probably be for the short contests as we have an idea forming for the long contests for July and August.  :)

For the next few contests, may I suggest something small? I don't have anything specific in mind, but I've noticed that contests with high budgets, high bed space counts, large lot sizes and/or high landscaping requirements tend to get fewer participants. They're fun to have every so often but we've had like three in a row now.  ???

Agreed. Although I love the bigger ones, and I seem to be better at them. The smaller ones seem to get more interest.

I also agree . I have a lot of free time but I know some don't. We need more entries to make it a little more interesting and fair. I have enjoyed all the contests I have participated in so far and looking forward to a whole lot more. I have learned so much and thank everyone who comments as it helps me get better and more creative in my builds.  :)

How about you post an average house and we have to change it to make it look like it would in 50 years? A random idea but I think it would be fun :P

E: Also, how about whenever you win a building contest, you get a little picture or something you can post in your signature? Nowadays I can't remember who's won contests due to sheer quantity.

Hey guys I'm taking an extended hiatus... again. I'm out of ideas to build houses and I don't have as much fun designing homes like I used to; it feels more like a chore. So that's where I'll be, I will probably be back sometime. :P
