Patch 1.29
« on: December 14, 2011, 02:23:37 PM »
Has anyone downloaded this patch yet? It seems to have a lot of fixes, but I don't want to risk messing up my game like some of the previous patches have.

Here's the link to the EA site with the list of fixes. It's really long so I didn't want to paste it here.

I'm intrigued by "•An issue that caused Sims to go invisible when traveling to a Vacation world has been fixed ." - and kind of frightened that I have to ask "Which one?"

No kidding. I'm hoping this really is a good thing, because I've run into a few of the problems on the list myself. Usually I'm all for immediately downloading the patches, but I had some really bad problems with the previous two, so I'm going to wait and see what other people have to say about it.

Some of these issues are hilarious:
When using the Fire Pit, Sims can no longer roast and eat horse fertilizer .
Cats will no longer autonomously run through walls or full length windows as though they were doors .
Toddlers can no longer get fleas.
Gender restricted doors will no longer restrict pets from entering rooms.
Pets will no longer appear as targets when selecting the “Bring Drink to…” interaction .

Oh well. I probably won't update untill Showtime.

I updated without a problem, but so far the only thing I've done is create a sim.  It did fix a problem I was having: when I made a everyday outfit, then changed the hairstyle for another outfit, it would say I was still doing my everyday hair and undo the work I'd done on the everyday outfit and substitute something random.

Too funny on the fixes!  I've definitely seen my kitten run through a wall, over and over and over.  I think I've seen the dog do it, too.  Not really that bad, but nice to know a bug was fixed.

I finally gave in and updated. I haven't heard anything terrible about the patch, so I figured that was a good sign. So far so good.

Yeah, I've seen a dog go through a wall in order to jump up on a bed. I haven't played a family with a cat yet, really.

I'll probably patch up tomorrow.

For the love of Cow Plants, is the patch slow to download for anyone else!?

No problem for me.  It loaded like normal.

It seemed a bit slower than the other patches for me, but it still took about 10 minutes.

No problem for me either. Not too crazy about the new icons in Buy mode where you can buy stuff from the sim store directly though..

It sped up after I posted that, so it must've just been slow to start.

@kattiq Me neither. To be honest, I'm not too crazy about most of it, but hey, if it fixes any bugs (some of which I haven't heard of), I'm happy.

My son installed the new patch for me and it took three goes before the game would even load.

I started playing my Sims in Appaloosa Plains and all was going well.  There were no glitches but I was skittish about the three goes to upload so I started saving every night (Sim time).  Then I wanted to buy drums in buy mode.  I saw those new icons and as soon as I clicked on one, the game died.  And I had just maxed out my Sim's riding skill ... and I guess I got complacent because I can't remember the last time I saved the game but it was a good while back.

Not happy Jan...

I can't see any problems so far. I'm excited about the new trees and terrain paint, and this window also seems to be new:

Wow! They included free stuff in a Patch?  ;D Perfect timing for me, only 1 and a half days left of School! Not sure how well those trees will fit in, Lol.
