Question about legacys
« on: March 18, 2010, 03:42:17 PM »
This is a pretty stupid question but I'm really new to the Sims, so I wanted to ask it.

If I made a young adult move out of the household, would I still be able to control him as well as the rest of the family?

Thanks guys and girls :)

If you are following the rules no, if this is a personal Legacy you could but with Story Progression then I would warn you.

No this is just my own little fun legacy, so i would be able to control the young adult who's moved out and the family he moved out from?

Yes you could, if this is a fun one then you can make your own rules up on what you can do.

Not at the same time at least. With 'Edit town' you can change your controlled household and control another one, but take my advice then: Turn off the story progression in the options menu first. You'll never know what purely stupid things your original family does when you're controlling another household!

Other than that, you should be fine!

Yeah, like Swede said, once you leave one family to story progression, some bad things could happen, including sudden offspring produced, no more money, change in relationships (i.e. friend to enemy), etc. Or you could leave story progression off!

My Story Progression is not amazing. Most of my Spares who are kicked out then moved back into town, they die alone with no heir, unless I got them married to someone.

My story progression always end up with everyone moving to new places so I can never find them again, so yeah, it should be left inactive if you control multiple families.

I haven't played my legacy recently, and when I did I played with a certain mod that allowed there to be more than 8 people per household, so I can't say what my story progression is like, though that's the thing you risk when you want everything to be perfect, but the game limits you on certain things  :-\

I must be honest i have no idea what that means. Could someone give me a little step by step guide please?

I'm not so good at giving advice, but I'll try.

1. When your in your game, click on the options button in the lower left hand corner. (It looks like *...*)
2. Click "Edit Town"
3. It will take you to the Edit Town screen. On that screen click on the button with the two houses on it. Now just choose or create a new family to play.

Be warned though that when changing households the wishes and promised wishes of your current household will not be saved for the next time you play it.

:( Well I built a castle, so I guess I could just use that and put apartment type floors in it.

OK, but just for the record in service of possible other newcomers to the game:
Story progression is an option in the options menu that basically allows uncontrolled households to do things on their own without input from you as a player; such as getting married, having babies, move to new houses in the neighbourhood, age etc. This is to make the neighbourhood feel more alive. However, in this case, if you want to control multiple households you may want to have your other family stay the way it was when you last controlled them. Therefore, my personal advice is to turn this option off first.
