There seems to be an overwhelming number of negative responses to this ep in the official sims community, I just can't understand what's so boring about showtime.
I think it's the social side of it that's getting the most negativity right now. I have facebook games, than I have The Sims. Those 2 should never mingle, I don't play Sims Social on fb but at least that was made for fb. I have an issue with the social aspect, but the game itself looks cool.

I'll porably SimPort to my sister's game.  ;D
And I cannot wait to see what the new Occult is!
I just hope it's not Werewolves.

I'll put my money on zombies. They seem to be the up and coming horror genre on TV. I'd rather have a witch for a magical fortune teller but I'll bet it's zombies.
Eek! can you imagine Sunset Valley infested with zombies lol! :o

Y'all really are jumping the gun about all this social media stuff.  Nothing has been released by EA that supports most of what I'm reading on this thread.  Please, let's wait until more information is released before making any judgments.

From what I've been reading over there I think there are a lot of people who feel this EP is filled with a lot of flash instead of substance.

The singing skill was always really funny in Sims 2, with the karaoke Machine. Maybe it won't be so bad for a virtuoso Sim since music is something they're naturals at. You know there is already singing in the game, right?

I'm testing out my little prediction on a toddler I stated earlier in this thread:

About Singing: If this is going to be a skill, do you guys think Singing to the IF will have the same effect as the Base Game skills? Like will they develop the skill as a toddler, and it will show up when their children?

Now that I think of this, I'm curious if learning a song on vacation in WA, will help improve one's singing skill as well. Someone want to share their thoughts on my predictions?

My hunch is that the World Adventures songs will be unrelated to the singing skill.

I wonder if this EP will unlock more features for those Magicians in the Parks? I also agree with Pam, I think the WA Tunes are just tunes that you'd hum to yourself the whole time due to being incredibly catchy.

That's a good question! I wonder if EA will choose to just leave them like a NPC that's really rare and hard to talk to or will make them perform special tricks to your sims and teach them?

It's entirely possible that the Magician may be expanded in Showtime.  I've seen things over the expansions like that.  For example, we've always had the slot for Share Secret, but only since Generations has it actually been a different interaction.  Electronic Arts puts things in the game that are like placeholders for future content.  Maybe the Magician is one of them.

What about the toddlers singing to their IF dolls? You think that could be up there with children and their toy oven, and the play table?

I don't have any sources, but I think I remember reading at some point that the Magican was originally going to be similar to a service NPC, but the interactions that it had were cut last minute for some reason.  I only learned this after my sim had married one and I learned that the magican had no action to perform tricks or evan had a job as a magican.  Of course, this was back before I fully understood parts of the game, somewhere between WA and HEL.

I also have a hunch that the magician will be one of those 'expanded' features.

I haven't read through this whole thread, but I just have to say that out of all of the expansions that EA could have done to follow up on the excellence of Pets... this is a little disappointing. I was hoping maybe a magic or seasons or even college one, but they really thought to do a social expansion? It seems like these new skills and careers should have been introduced in Late Night, too. While the social aspect will be awesome for this community--I'll admit, I'm a little excited about the possibility of playing with you all--I'm a little upset that EA is trying to steer sims in a more social direction. I'm guessing Sims Social was just a tester to gauge how this release would fare with the public. I just hope this doesn't lead to more social-based expansions or sequels. We may have the option to turn off the social feature now, and that's good because I feel it may take away from the game some, but I hope this isn't leading sims into a new direction forever.

Don't take my post to be EA bashing, though. I'm just disappointed. This sounds like an expansion that will be entertaining, but it seems like it will be social-based and not really game-enhancing based. Honestly, I'm not even sure if I'll purchase this expansion. And I have all things sims related. I guess it will really all depend on just how much is added social-wise.

I think it was inevitable that the expansion following Pets would be a bit disappointing.  Generations and Pets were both good expansion packs with a lot of excellent content.  It's going to be hard to follow those two.

If the social content is limited to sharing Sims with other players so they can watch them perform, it shouldn't be too bad.  Personally, I don't care much for social networking.  I think it's partly because I'm from a different generation.  But it's the way of the world now and I'm not surprised to see Sims 3 starting to embrace it.
