I wonder if the social feature is like Nintendo's Animal Crossing games where your character could actually go to another player's town but you still retained control of them.  You could chat with your friends' characters or with the NPC characters in their town.  You could buy things from their shops, fish and collect in their town, etc.  You decided when the gate to your town was open for your friends to come visit you, so you could control whether you played solo or with friends.

It required internet and it required you to set up a friends list so that you couldn't randomly go visit someone who was a complete stranger - you had to be on each other's friends lists.  If so, this forum is ideally suited to lead in to that kind of game experience.  I know I would love to have many of the great people I have met here come to visit me and my sims and I would like to go visit you and yours.  How cool would THAT be?!

Oh wow, I remember going on Animal Crossing when I was younger! I also think the best thing about this feature is that it isn't mandatory to use, and you can turn it off if you like. I like the idea of this EP, but I also think that it really just fits in with LN and seems like a sequal to it.

If that is the kind of thing they are talking about it would be AWESOME, VERGING ON EPIC!  Animal Crossing was one of the best games Nintendo ever put out and is actually the game that I blame for my current Sims and WoW addictions.   ;D

There is an announcement from Electronic Arts, so if you ask me, this thread can be unlocked.

Finally sims can become magicians now. :) I was waiting for that to happen. I'm sure a magic kind of thing will be a skill, along with singing and who know... DJing?

You also can send and invite sims from your town to that of a friend and vice versa to let then perform on the venues there. How exciting! Closer I can not get with the cool members here.

I'll be skipping this one.  I'm glad that some of your are excited about it, though - that's the great thing about this game.  You can really take away from it the experience you wish to have.

No matter what I end up getting all the Eps and SPs. If for no other reason than to have the new items/build/content stuff, have a complete set and to have a game that's up to date.  I just hope that there is a way to avoid the networking because if there isn't this might be a first for me, as in not buying it.

Exactly my feelings about the social aspect.  My personal opinion is that if I want to be social, I'll probably just leave the house and do that. :)

I am looking forward to this one. I have always wanted to have a singer lol

Now it may well seem like it should be an add on to LN but I don't see it like that, I may not use the social interactions and I may not enjoy everything that comes with this EP then I haven't enjoyed everything that comes from the EPs I have now but if the additional game play is as good as it appears to be then I will be buying this one.

Kindest Regards
KJ

P.S. There needs to be a new world we're running out of space in the existing ones lol
Everything happens for a reason, sometimes we have to wait a long time for the reason to become clear.

;D ;D ;D ;D Exactly. My game is one thing and my social life is another.
But, it really is an interesting aspect they're trying to implement.  I hope they are able to pull it off, particularly the PortSim feature.  I can see some of the fans being really excited about that.  Does that mean, however, that you are controlling your sim in their world I wonder?

In everything I have read so far EA has been very light on the details of the social feature. One of their statements seem to mean that you need the social feature to get farther in your skill or to complete a challenge.

I don't know what the feelings will be like here, over at The TS3 forum I'd guess about 10% are happy or intrigued with it while about 90% seem to vary between non-interest and absolute outrage over the social aspect.  I think EA could calm the waters if they were a little more forthcoming.

I have a burning question:
Is samoht reading my mind?!

This EP seems very similar to LN. Just seems like some things they didn't use time or space to add in to LN.
Also, the social networking doesn't sound real great. Oh yay! We get to go to other peoples towns, slowing down our game even more than it already is!
I mean seriously, just go on facebook and play sims social

Sounds good to me, Leto.  I'll unlock it now.  It's great to hear that it's not just a rumor.

Oh I like the look of this one. Fire twirling and what looks like circus arts. Twinkid 2 will love the fire rucia (I know I haven't spelt that right!) - that's the ring of fire the guy is spinning in. She has a friend at circus that does rucia, but not with fire.

Please, let's not get too out of control until more information is available.  We really don't know much about it yet and we'll have to play EA's game of feeding information to us in small doses over the coming months.

I've unlocked the first thread that was started about Showtime and I'm going to merge this one with it so that we only have one thread going.

The trailer seemed like a fake to me at first, with un-simlish music, real world scenes and remarks, and pretty much nothing new. I did think it could be a stuff pack or something, but not an expansion pack. Maybe even some iphone app, like an upgraded version of Sims Social.

Honestly? If I wanted to post stuff about what my sim is doing every second in the game, I could either have keep playing Social, or share my sim's memories as they are. It's clearly some upgrade to Late Night, and not a new The Sims Online (which, by the way, people have been wanting for ages). I'm not trying to be negative here, but I think you can scratch that Animal Crossing way of interactivity. We may not know how this "sim-exporting" will work, but I don't believe it's that way.

I will regardlessly get it, but only for two reasons. One, there's magic in it, and I need as many paranormal stuff in my game as I can get. Two, this expansion's disappointment is balanced with the ever-cheering return of the Laganaphillis (aka Cowplant) to TS3, which kind of compensates it.
