My opinions still haven't changed about this.
A lot of people on the official forum are not happy with it at all.

Well, they're annoying.

That's just the vocal ones. I bet if you surveyed all Sims players there would be an awful lot that are looking forward to it.

A lot of people on the official forum are not happy with it at all.

I'd almost be prepared to bet money that they're getting annoyed at EA for giving them "Late Night version 2.0".
I think it was Fez who said this: If EA decided to put all of this in Late Night, then the game would have too many features.
I, for one, am personally reluctant about getting it due to SimPort, but I know many people are getting annoyed for the release of "Late Night 2.0", and claim that EA don't listen. If EA didn't listen, would they still be in business? Part of a good customer base is giving them what they want - spotting a gap in the market and filling it. The way people are thinking is that EA isn't listening by giving people Seasons, or by giving them what they should've done in an earlier product (Showtime and Late Night) - truth is, EA is trying. They're only a company, they're not a SuperCompany that can do everything. EA has a budget, like any other company, so if we decide "Nope, they don't care about us" and stop buying products because we "should've got it earlier", EA could (theoretically) run out of money and never be able to produce stuff that we "want" - and then what will happen? Maxis will tank with EA, and The Sims could be sold to another company - and would we buy The Sims 4 from Activision?

I'm sorry if this can be classed as "EA Bashing".

Well, they're annoying.

Maybe so, but they do have a point about a couple of things. I agree with them about the "it isn't fair if you pay for objects you don't get to use, because you opt out of sims port". I hope that they're wrong about that, because I'd love to know what the special props are and that maybe you can get them without sims port.
Next to that the annoying people will keep companies like EA on their toes, becuase they can get a lot of people to listen and somehow agree. :P

You are right Pam! Some people will never be satisfied. If there is nothing to complain about, they are not happy. I don't  care what they said on that forum, I form my own opionions.

Wow, Showtime looks like a pretty trendy expansion pack! I think EA has a certain target audience in mind, here. I can just see the board meeting: "Alright folks, what do kids these days aspire to do with their lives?" "I dunno, clubbing? DJs? Pop stars?"

Late Night is one of my favourite expansion packs, and I'm hoping Showtime will be just as good. I guess I'll need to go to more night clubs for building references, though.  ;)

Haha, I can imagine you going to a club, not with a guy, but with a bunch of paper to make notes.
The Barmanwill have a total different conversation than he is used to have. :P

I'm looking forward to the Simport, really. As I've recently installed all my sims 3 games on my sisters computer, we now can spare out money on sending SMS or WatsApp to each other. "So you want to speak me sis? Start up your game." :P

The way I see it, these complainers are whining about an EP that's too much like an EP from Sims 2.  Of course, they've never played Showtime, so how could they possibly know if that's really the case.  I don't think EA has released enough information about Showtime to make that call.  And even when they release more information, it won't be enough because you actually have to play the game to know what it does and how it's similar or different to previous Sims 2 games.  And I also recall hearing people say they want this or that particular thing that they had in Sims 2.  Ok, maybe they're doing that, but it doesn't make the complainers happy, just like everything else.  They are going to complain no matter what.  Personally, I don't put much stock in what those whiner folks have to say.  I will see for myself what the EP is like when it's released in March.  Until then, I just don't know what all it's going to have and I will eagerly await the drops of information that EA sees fit to share with us.

That way simsport is cool to use, I have to agree on that. I used to do that with my brother on other games, unfortunatly he hates the sims...
I don't have a lot of friends and family that play as much sims as I do. I try to get them to play the sims more, but I think I drive them nuts.
That aside, I did wish that I could still controll and see my sims while sending them off, like in dragonquest 9 (for those who know the game). There I can controll my sims and stay in my friends world for some time. Then again on DS that is more easy then while you're on the computer, unless your next to eachother :P.

What exactly is a sims port or is it simsport? Quite a few members have mentioned it but I just can't remember reading about it?

So does that mean we can't control our sims when we send them off? Or are you just hoping we can?

In the last sentence it should be character, but I wrote sim... I'm sorry for the confusion. Maybe to clear it up a bit more: Dragonquest is a game for the nintendo DS, you can have your character go into the world of another player trough wifi. While in this world you control your character and you can help a friend with his or her storyline. I hope that makes more sense...
From what I've heard it's a rabbit hole and the person to who's world you send the sim can keep you updated by posting on your wall on the sims 3 website. I guess I just wish I could keep contolling my sims.

Could you tell me where you've heard this? I didn't care too much for the idea of simport anyways, but the way you're putting it seems like you can only play with those that come into your game, not the other way around. And that sounds even worse than what I had imagined. I do have hopes for this EP, but I'll be disappointed if we can't play our sims in our friends' worlds.

It's the first post. I think it has been quoted before here, but I have put in some quotes that tell me about this. In the forum they have a heated discussion about it. :P (edit: In the official sims 3 forum)

"During the performance you can cheer (or jeer) your friend’s Sim while they perform and even throw stuff on stage—from flowers to rotten lettuce! The last thing you throw will go home with them and end up in their inventory!"

For me this says that a sim that will come into your game will do a preformance and you can either well cheer or jeer. I don't think that you'll be able to controll that sim otherwise.

"You can share those experiences and stories with your friends by posting to their Player Wall, both in-game and on the web, and by sending your Sims to do special performances in their worlds. It’s all up to you! "

This is written from the sims entering your game, but this makes me think that it'll be a rabbit hole. I must add though that I'm not sure, so far it's pretty vague. I'm waiting for more info, but there is nothing yet. Maybe nothing will be sure untill we get to buy the game. So for now it's more of a wait and see. I'm sorry I wish I could tell you that it is clear on what the game is going to be like.
I hope this all makes sense.

Hmmm... I haven't read much about this because I'm not too thrilled, but it seems like we'll need more information to figure out exactly what's going to happen, anyways.

A simport is something like a teleport. Your Sim can via a simport travel from your computer or viva versa. Than they can show of their cool stunts in other worlds to play free items. That is all I know about it at this point.
