About SimsVIP: Is that website even accurate or reliable? That website has always been a little fishy to me.  :-\

They've been pretty accurate.

They've been rather accurate for me. I read one of their articles and they put a big "fake" stamp on one of the comments.

Plus, I just looked at a trailer. There was absolutely no Sims-play, just clips from shows like The X Factor. Also, we can "for the first time, send sims to our friends games" and it's not the first time - the exchange, the Swap Shop, sharing sims3packs... Plus I looked hard at the cover of the game - 2 images from LN and an image from Generations was on the "cover". I really believe this is fake now.

I am indeed going to lock this thread.  We have no announcement from Electronic Arts and the so-called "trailer" is absolutely fake.  We may actually see a Showtime Expansion Pack, but we'll hold off on a discussion until we have better information.

There's also a section on the Sims website:

http://thesims.com/en_US/the-sims-showtime

I hope the social features aren't the biggest part of this. I guess we'll see when we get a bit more information.

I like the performing aspect of this but, maybe its just me but it feels a lot like stuff that should have been in late night. A for the social aspect if I wanted to play Sims with others, I'd pay Sims Social. But I guess we will learn more soon enough, until then I refuse to get excited about this expansion pack since I was actually disappointed with generations.

I feel the same way. It seems like LN part 2.  I never watch reality shows and now it's in the Sims. I know I'll never use the social aspect of it. I do need more info though.  I wonder if there will be a new town or if this is part of a new trend.  They didn't include a town in Generations  and then sold one in the store.  In the end I'll be buying it because I'm one of those "collectors". I like a complete series of something if it's books, movies or games.

At this point all I'm looking forward to is the cow plant that they are going to put in the store.

Edit

I saw the press release at Sims VIP. There is a new town.

Amazon says it will be out March 6. That's who I order from. They usually do something like .99 cents shipping release day arrival. When I ordered Pets from Amazon they had a 10.00 rebate they put in my Amazon account.  I've had too many problems ordering from Origin.

I personally am annoyed. This just looks like an updated version of Late Night. There is almost nothing to this EP apart from what is like two skills and some more LN features.  :-\

I'm with you. I'm really disappointed.  I guess now we'll just have singers performing in near empty venues  as opposed to musicians performing in near empty clubs.

I just have no interest at all in reality TV in real life and now it seems that it's in The Sims.  I really have no interest in the social aspect.

I'm not keen on the 'social' part of this. So now our sims basically have Facebook pages? O_o
