Intrusive Ads & Guest Ad

There are a lot of intrusive ads this season. If one messes up the formatting of a page, especially on the guide (chef boyardee) hit control + F5 and it will usually fix it. Sorry, there are so many differing ads that there's little I can do. Thankfully I haven't seen too many ads of the naughty nature  lately

Edit: Also, if you have over 50 posts and see the guest ad let me know! Sorry for new folks, but its removal is a perk to look forward to when you have achieved Jr. Member rank.

What's the guest ad?
The only thing I have noticed with the ads is that frequently where the ad should be at the bottom of the page (and sometimes where the top ad is) I get a box that says The Connection Was Reset or I get a 400 (or is it 500) error message.

A guest ad is an ad that is only seen by Forum guests, and members who have fewer than 50 posts.  Once that mark is passed, the ads won't show up anymore.

I guessed it was something we don't see, but is it larger than the usual ads we see? I guess what I'm asking is how do we know it's the guest ad and not just one of the normal ads?

The Guest Ad is another ad banner above the first post at the top of the topics. You don't see it but if you log out and go to any thread it's there.

ahh, and it has the message that says you won't see it if you are registered with 50 posts. lol, of course actually thinking to log out so I could see it was too easy.

I like that I made it 50 posts. It is a bit of a reward, because the forum will load faster without it there. I have noticed no speed impact from the google image ad top right

I don't think the forum has ever loaded faster thanks to all this. Now posting, that's another story. The external database server isn't as fast as our old dedicated one so posting messages etc. is slightly slower. But the overall browsing experience is better, especially for Junior Members +.

Wow, I wish I've made 50 posts.
After 50 post the pages here will load faster? Pam recently has made it to 10.000. That means get pages are loading faster 200 times compared to Junior Members.

I think there is a problem with the guest ad.  Even before I log in, I don't see the ad. I see the "Registered Members with at Least 50 Posts do not see this ad" text but there is no ad.  Its the same after I log in
