The Run Around Bug
« on: March 16, 2010, 01:16:22 PM »
I have a sim who RUNS everywhere he goes.  It's not an adrenaline rush either, he's been running since he was a teenager and now he's an adult.  I've tried reseting him, that hasn't worked.  I don't know what else to do for him except let him run.  It's kind of annoying though...

Anyone have an idea of what I can do to get him to stop?

What are his traits?  They might have something to do with it.

I don't remember off the top, but I know he's not a dare devil or anything like that.  If I'm remembering right he's evil, neat, over-emotional, grumpy, and perfectionist.

When a sim has been made to walk somewhere by you, there is options on how they get there.

 - Walk
 - Run
 - Automatic

Ok, I checked out his "go here" settings.  It's set to automatic.  I switched it to walk to see what would happen, and he still runs.  Made me chuckle but it's still kind of annoying.

That was happening to me a while back but it eventually stopped. I assumed it was a bug that had been fixed by one of the patches, or it might have been caused by a mod that I no longer use.

I don't use any mods so that can't be it.

It would actually make more sense to me if ALL my sims ran, but it's only the one guy who does it.  I guess I should rename him Turbo.

That's odd, but personally I wouldn't mind it. It gets you places faster anyways!

One of my Sims got stuck running everywhere and I'd not altered his 'go to' settings at all, it just randomly happened. Luckily he snapped out of it after about 2 sim days, but it was annoying at the time because I kept thinking something bad was happening on the lot somewhere.

Is your Turbo Sim still stuck running?
Grr Argh!

Yup, he aged up to elder recently but he's still running around like crazy.

After all this time, I finally have a Sim who does this exact thing!  She runs everywhere!  All around the house, even when carrying the baby.  Like AriaGirl said, it's amusing and annoying at the same time.  She married into the family, so I don't know when she started doing it.

LOL!  That is so funny.  At least I'm not the only one!  My guy who ran kept on running until the day he died.  I guess he was a real go-getter.  *groan*

Ok, so I'm having some MAJOR reoccurances of the Run Around Bug since Ambitions!!!  Anyone else?  I have one family where all but one member runs everywhere.  I think it has something to do with playing tag as a child.  But since Ambitions I've noticed that quite a few Townies have this bug also!  Craziness...

I've noticed this as well, but when it happens to my sims, it doesn't last very long (certainly it doesn't span across birthdays!).  I don't really mind it, but maybe you could try resetting your sim to see if that fixes it.

Resetting doesn't work at all, and once it happens in childhood they're stuck that way forever.  Sometimes it's kind of nice, my speedy sims are always the first ones to make it to the toilet or shower when they need it!  But it's also kind of annoying because occasionally when they run by I'll think, "Woah, what's goin' on?!  Oh yeah, it's just her... pft..."
