Crashing with missing .dll
« on: November 26, 2011, 08:25:07 PM »
DasmX86Dll.dll not found this is what is in the script error message in my folder. How can I fix it. Should I uninstall/reinstall? What about my downloads and stuff?

Tonight it's almost non playable. I don't care if I lose my games. I just don't want to lose my sims, etc..

My first thought on this one is that it is a problem with a MOD, so if you run mods I would remove those and then try to run the game. If you do not run mods, then it could be an issue with 3rd party CC, again remove that and try to run the game.

In order to remove mods I would go back to where you got it from and ask for specific removal instructions, that is something I know nothing about as I do not run mods.

3rd party CC can be removed by dragging the entire 'downloads' folder out of the EA folder.

If the game still ceases to function and produces this error then I would suggest a full re-install. I am not sure if you are able to save the Sims but you can rescue your save files by dragging the 'save' file out of the EA folder and onto your desktop. Although I would be careful with that because this error may have been produced by one of those files.

I can only see this being a problem with mods and 3rd party CC, because a DLL can be a shared system file and 3rd party CC and mods can make changes to core system DLLs to function.

I hope that this helps.

Kindest Regards

You can save your Sims the same way you save your Saved Games - in same place you can find folder named Saved Sims with all the Sims you saved in CAS. Same goes with Export folder - all your exported files, Screenshots, Videos and Downloads.
I looked around for this problem, and it may have something to do with some hairstyles. I would also suggest to remove all CC from the game and try it to see if it repeats. I didn't see anyone report connection with Mods but it's worth to try without them too (just renaming Mod folder will do the trick).
Also, make shore your drivers are up to date. For some reason that was mentioned as a possible cause for this error.
I did full reinstall of the game just few days ago, and I do it around once per month -I do a lot of shuffling around with game, and for it to run smoothly I tend to do a clean install every time something goes wrong (like crashing, or failed saving etc.) It can save you a lot of time you might lose while trying to fix something that can be avoided by clean reinstall of the game.  Revo uninstaller will speed up the process of registry cleaning etc so I would recommend to do a full reinstall as a part of maintainance of the game :).

I do have alot of hair and clothes.. I went and uninstalled about 50 items... and now I can play for about an hour.. I think it was the last hair batches I got.. I'll just stick to the ones I like the best and get rid of the rest.. I'll let you know more tomorrow if it keeps running fine.. Thanks for the suggestions and great minds think alike!! LOL
