Graphically Deformed Pets? SP won't Uninstall Correctly?
« on: November 26, 2011, 06:00:35 PM »
I just installed a new patch for my free store items. Now, I figured this would do nothing to my game, other than patch up my store stuff. As soon as open, I go into Appaloosa Plains and go into Benjamin Schmidt's(sp?) household. I get welcomed by his dog, Ralston.

Changing his coat shape does nothing, other than make him look more deformed.

I exit into Vera Blackburn's household, with her two dogs, who look like this.

Now, is there something wrong with my computer? How do I remove this patch from my computer to stop this?

The only way to uninstall a patch - do a complete uninstall and reinstall of Sims.

Now re-installing. But, I just realized that the patch is for things I don't have!! What is going on? Personally, I don't want to deform my pets for things I don't have!

No, it's a patch for store items that I don't own. I only have free items, and the items that the patch is listed for are not any in my game. I am not at all happy now, because I no longer have my High End Loft Stuff Pack because it refuses to uninstall and I can't reinstall it to my game if it won't leave. All of the items are gone, but it is stuck on my Control Panel. Plus, I've misplaced my Outdoor Living Stuff Pack Disc. So I've lost two SPs due to a patch for store items I don't own!

I think the best thing you can do is to contact EA customer support.

I'll try, but I'm so fed up right now that I'm just going to take a break from my sims for a while.

I can't find customer support. I went to the EA help site, but nowhere on that page is any support for what I'm going through, and I hope I'm not going through this alone. Here's the site I went to.

I searched Sims 3 Patches & manually went into the Sims 3 patch information, and I'll I got was how to install past patches. I'm going to see if I can get any support over the store.

EDIT: Now EA and The Sims are completely driving me completely insane (and not the amusing, Sim-like kind either!). My game will not patch up without getting the patch that started this mess, and I will not try to manually patch it up without getting some help from EA. My game now works fine, but I like my SPs and don't want to lose $40 worth of Sims because of this patch. Two of my favorite SPs are now lost and EA's customer support line is not on their help site; I've combed over it countless times. If someone could please point me in the correct direction, I would really appreciate it. Thank y'all so much for trying to help, and if y'all could help me just a little bit more, I would really, really, gratefully, accept it. Thanks.

There customer support number is 1-866-543-5435 7am-9pm CST (7 days a week). There used to be a button to send them an email, but I haven't been able to find it in awhile. Only thing they have now is here hopefully you can talk live. I'm so sorry you are having this issue. My deformed pets are because of a bad graphic card.  :'( Hopefully you can get some help.

Yikes, just noticed I linked to the same page you did.  :( Sorry.

Hi Ann.

I would have suggested trying other things before uninstalling the game, but it sounds like it's too late for that.  You've uninstalled the game, right?  And you've also re-installed it?  I'm trying to figure out exactly where you need help.  If you've lost the disks for your stuff packs, I don't know of any way to get them installed again without purchasing them again.  If you have them registered on the Sims 3 site, EA might be able to help you with that, but don't expect it.  It's important to keep all of your disks and authorization codes together in a safe place.  There will always come a time when you have to re-install the game and you need those disks.

After re-installing Pets, has the graphics issue improved?  I don't necessarily think the store patch caused the graphics problems.  Pets has higher graphics requirements and that might be the problem.

So, if you'll give a summary of exactly what help you need at this point, we'll try to help you.

Thanks, Esther. I was hoping there was an e-mail or something, because I cannot call. So, it's either live with it or physically call them. The website I went to only has tips on "how to do X" and "what to do if Y happens." Nothing there has helped me thus far.

Sorry about your deformed pets. I wish I had EA's e-mail address....

Pam - It mostly likely was the patch. My pets were perfectly fine before and now they - well, you saw the pictures. After re-installing without the patch, all is well in my little Sims world, other than the fact that High End Loft Stuff will not uninstall from my Control Panel. I am still in possesion of that disc and serial code, and will just have to get the other game for Christmas or something.

What has happened is I downloaded a patch I did not need (it was for store items I did not possess, but the game thought I needed it anyway), and all of my dogs now have either an invisible face or a sunken, sallow face that is not supposed to happen in-game. Reinstalling most of my games have fixed the problem, so I am assuming that it was the patch. So, that problem is mostly fixed. My problem now is that High End Loft stuff has been uninstalled multiple times and will not leave my Control Panel. I will change the name of this topic to fit this, but it might not be the game but my computer not accepting something. If it matters, I am running on Windows 7. My problem with Outdoor Living Stuff is irrepairable.

Thanks so much for all of the help y'all have been giving. I know not all of it has worked and not all of it will work, but making an effort to help me has really made my day.

Actually, before they removed the email link, I had saved their email address in my email contacts. I just went and got it for you, hopefully it still works. [email protected] That is the email I would use and get responses from so I hope it's still active.

Reinstalling most of my games have fixed the problem, so I am assuming that it was the patch. So, that problem is mostly fixed. My problem now is that High End Loft stuff has been uninstalled multiple times and will not leave my Control Panel.

When using Control Panel doesn't work, you can manually uninstall the game.  We have a thread that has links with details on how to uninstall each expansion and stuff pack (except Generations and Town Life Stuff).  This may allow you to uninstall High End Loft.  Because of the snag with High End Loft not uninstalling properly, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the entire game.  I'm not saying it's definite, but be prepared to do so.  The packs need to be installed in the correct order for the game to run properly.
