Is this possible?
« on: March 15, 2010, 08:05:20 PM »
Hi guys i'm new to the forum but have followed every single one of the lifttime rewards guides and i loved them so thanks :D

But recently i've just been spending all my time on my power broker just racking up money and as crazy as it sounds it's really boring and starting to get on my nerves a little, so i decided to set myself a challenge of basically being homeless starting the game buying a patch of land and leaving it empty and making my way using the guitar and or fishing.

Now i know you can make your sim happy without being in a house and still kepe there social, Hunger etc etc up but there is one i'm quite worried about hygiene, is it possible to keep the hygiene stat up outdoors?

Thanks guys.

You could use a shower at the gym.  :)

Welcome to the forums! You can definitely keep your hygiene up. They're not cheap, but the Shower in a Can from the General Merchants in the World Adventures locations sounds right up your alley if you don't want to go with a shower. Fishing and guitar playing can be lucrative, especially guitar playing, so buying those Showers in a Can should not be an issue. Of course you can always use the showers at the gym for free.

If you're playing in Riverview, the showers are at the community pool.

If you really want to make it realistic, give the sim 5 of the following 6 traits: slob, mooch, unlucky, inappropriate, insane and loser. Pick the LTW Living in the Lap of Luxury (if it doesn't come up at first, go back to pick traits and just accept them again), but here's the catch: you're not allowed to build on the lot until you have amassed enough cash to build a home that would complete the LTW ($100k).  Buy an empty lot, and remove the rest of your cash (use can use the familyfunds cheat).  No jobs!  You can buy items that you can carry with you (books, food, guitar, portable stereo, laptop).  No traveling.  No selling items!  No using the cell phone (which includes opportunities). No taking classes. You can have relationships, even get married and have kids, but you aren't allowed to either move in with anyone or have anyone move in with you.

I had a hobo-sim once that later evolved into a rich guy (ambrosia makes him live indefinitely). You can really do anything you want if you befriend your neighbours and stay there for the night! My guy also had the klepto trait so that he could loot their houses for spare money when they weren't watching. Of course, without a bed, they're now useless to you. So the next night you just pick a new neighbour that can help you. Being skilled in charismatic is good here!

After I started, I realised I should have picked the klepto trait. But now I'm fishing deathfish, so I'm really on my way to my 250k goal.

Just something to be wary of, unless you've already progressed enough to see this happen, the bills will still come even with an empty lot I think. Unless you get the No Bills Ever reward, you'll have to go back to your house every Monday and Thursday to pay the bills. Of course, if you plan on still living at home some of the time, this shouldn't be a problem.

As far as I know, the amount of the bills is based on the value of the objects on your lot. I don't think you should get any bills if your lot is empty, but you will get bills if you have even one object. I once had a lot with only one or two items and I would get bills for §3.

I don't think I ever get any bills when there is nothing on the lot to "tax".  When I play homeless sims and never go back to my lot, I have yet to get a bill in the mail. It would be funny if the repo man hunted you down at the gym and hoovered your guitar out of your backpack.  :D

I actually had one sprinkler for my little garden of life fruits, so I normally got bills requiring me to pay 1$ (or else! :o). Of course, this was purely ridiculous since I had 300 000$, I just didn't have a home.
