Dear Journal,
This morning at breakfast the butler had fetched the paper. He pointed out the front page.
ALL HALE THE QUEEN!
Queen Sterling made a grand appearance at the picnic yesterday. She was looking stunning a an amazing red and black dress made by local tailor Susu.  She sang lovely as she entered the park singing "All Peaceful on the Island" our islands anthem. The King also showed in a black tuxedo while holding newly born Calvin Troy Lammerwright the new price of the island. The eldest child of the royal family is little Velvet Rose who is now a toddler she was dressed in a  blue and white striped sundress and shorts. This is an adorable and lovely family.
What a lovely report!  Below were some pictures taken after the pinic and during the picnic.

I really love the picture of me holding the butterfly although they do indeed creep me out greatly...

Dear Journal,
Today is the first day of winter here on the island.  It doesn't snow here but it gets quite cold sometimes.  When I was at the tailors the local Susu was telling me all about this sickness that is only found on THIS is land and is extremely dangerous. She said that the culture here is to were the color of sand in honor of those who have died from this sickness, it is called the Ginko's Flu. I worried about my kids and family... I left an went straight home instead of going to an art gallery.  When I got home butler fixed me a fire in a fireplace and heated the bed.  I read a novel in bed for an hour when Velvet came toddling in.  I said
"Vellie, Dear why aren't you in bed?"
She came to my bed side and tugged on the covers...
"Mumu I cold..." She said in her sweet voice.
"Oh darling!" I scooped her up and put her in bed with me.  She fell asleep in 10 minutes.  She snores so cutely.
Now I am writing in my journal... Little Velvet will be a child soon and off to school as well... how exciting!
Oh now I am sleepy...

Dear Journal,
Oh lord I am having a panic attack little Velvet is sick! Sick with... well I am not sure!  We have her in my bed right now with the fireplace roaring and medicine on the way. Well called the doctor to make a house call but the poor thing has a horrible cough.  I learned more about the Ginko's Flu and it is curable but there is only a few doses on the island currently and their making more.

Oh dear the doctor is here! I quickly lead him up to Vellie and he exaimined her... I am waiting and waiting for over a half an hour now!

FINALLY! He came out!
"Well?" I said
"She has Ginko's Flu..." He responded
I bawled,
"I will try my best to get a bottle of medicine but do not take pictures or turn on any light in that room it way cause a spasm.

I agreed and prayed for her to be ok... I waited for the doctor to return with the medicine.
TO BE CONTINUED...

Dear Journal, (Continued)
Oh dear I am so very sorry apparently I had fainted while writing this. Vander said I was sobbing right before I had fainted. So now it is the next day and I am sitting up in bed waiting to hear about Vellie.  I am not aloud in the room to see her without a medical mask.
The doctor finally walked in... He pulled the mask off his face and sighed. He said
"I am sorry all the medicine is used up... Velvet is going to die..."  I sobbed and sobbed. How could my little miracle baby die?!? No I cried out screamed from bed. I put the mask on and ran into see her.  She looked weak and pale.  I quietly said.
"Velvet?"  Her eyes opened and said
"Mumu... I ok?" She said between coughs.
"Be strong little one, be strong..." I said as tears rolled down my cheeks, Vander at my side.

Then a knock on the door... Butler answered it.  It was a man with a package he ran in and asked where we were.  He stormed in the door and yelled
"I... GOT... MORE!" between breathes
"More medicine!" I yelled
"Yes! We found a whole hidden case in the back of the icebox!"  the man said.
The doctor quickly helped Velvet sit up and swallow a big gulp of dark green goo. She gagged and refused to take the next dose. I begged her and said she would feel better if she did.  We stuck the spoon in her mouth and she finished the medicine. My baby will be ok!

Dear Journal,
Oh it has been one tragic event after another!  Last night when we were all after a government party... the oil lamp on the newly added 3rd floor caught fire and burned the whole top floor! We are busy cleaning up rubble and remodeling it again...

But now it will be so much better!  The rooms will be more comfortable, with carpet!

See? How lovely!

Well at least that's lovely... I called the port to check up on the steam ship we sent out for Vander's mom... and well Vander's mom Velma, came down with the Ginko's Flu and since they were out at sea... no cure and well she has passed I had to tell Vander and well I don't know how I will tell him, she was the last of his family to survive...
I am going to wait until tomorrow thought, it is late and we are all tired.

Dear Journal,
Happy Birthday!  Its my little Princesses birthday! She is turning 5!  I am so excited!

Butler made a lovely cake and mom and Vander preformed for Velvet.

Me and mom both have amazing singing voices that are pure 1940's sounding. Vander tapped his fingers on the piano and play a popular island sound call "Growing..." The lyrics are

Growing up....
You and I...
Day by day...
Time floats away...
Like butterflies
Way way up  in the sky
Taking me away----
Birthdays come and go
once a year
you never know
Aging and growing....
growing up you and I
We learn little by little
and make strides
and baby steps
Day by day!!!
or abc
we will learn
and grow
and dream
You and I

It was a slow sound and moms voice echoed in the house and the grand piano dinging and chimed.
We all clapped when they finished and it was time for her to grow up...

She has my hair and her father's dark brown eyes. She is a quirky little 5-year-old. I brought her to Susu's and let her pick out everything!  She picked white tights with green polka dots a striped shirt and green skirt.   And I wrote a check for it... Susu even tied her hair in pig-tails with satin bows.
My little princess.  Since she is a child now their is a big festival in the park for her!  How exciting. The Festival is tomorrow...

But now I have to tell Vander about his mother...
I sat him down on the sofa.
"Vander?" I said softly
"Yes my dear?" he said back.
"I have news about your mother..."
"You do!  Oh how is she!" he gasped
"Well you see, I wanted to send her here and she was on her way when she got the Ginko's Flu..."
"Oh no! No... NO!" he said tears bubbling up.
"I am so sorry but she has passed" I said hugging him.
He was in shock for the rest of the night and had sat outside in the garden all night long.
I brought him a quilt and cup of hot coffee then left him to mourn.

Dear Journal,
Velvet's new room is done!

It has a queen sized canopy bed, easel, and penned in area for toys.

But we have decided to make sure that she was gonna to gain lots of skills too. We started with painting and encouraged her to work on fishing, piano, and start collecting. Velvet starts piano tomorrow.
I let her go play down by the beach.

When she came back she had caught a bug!  Which she named Westie. Its kind of strange that a princess likes to play with bugs but if she likes it she may have it...

Due to rain the festival was postponed until tomorrow. So I have to go get her fitted for a royal outfit.
I am working on creating a garden that I hope my little Velvet with help me with.

Dear Journal,
It is Velvet's first day of school!  I am so very excited for her! It will give her the chance to make new friends.  But I hope people don't crowd her for being princess and all.

There is the bus! Velvet is off to Kindergarten! Butler packed her a lunch and everything!
But tonight she has the festival!

On the other hand Vander is excited and wants to take a fishing trip out.

So I decided to go to Susu's and get a holiday dress made and a regular dress made. I also had to do some holiday shopping as well. On this island we celebrate Chickette which is a day where was exchange gifts and eat lobster enjoy music and festivals.

Tada! A lovely causal dress. But, it will take at least a week for my holiday dress to be made. The colors of this holiday is Purple and Black.

But the time I go home Velvet's bus had pulled in.

I looked out the window to see that another little girl with red hair and wearing a Susu Original Skirt like Velvet was out in the yard with Velvet. I wonder who that could be? She must be wealthy because most children can't afford Susu's clothing. I walked out and ask Velvet to introduced this young lady to me. She said it was her friend.  I looked her over and said she can stay till dinner. Its hard for me to let strangers walk into the Royal Estate but she is a friend of Velvets.

When I went to check up on them, they were in the study doing homework!  I like this friend a lot! I told Velvet after her friend had left that she could come anytime!

Now it was Festival Time! The lights were all over the park waiting for Princess Velvet.

She Entered the park and a roar of people clapped. She had to say a quick little speech as princess.

"Hello people of the island!  I am your Princess Velvet Rose speaking.  I am now 5-years-old and can proudly say I am the Princess!  I want to thank you all for welcoming my family so sweetly... And I will act as sweet in return to all of you... Enjoy the festival!"  Velvet said standing on the stairs. Good job I told her!

Dear Journal,
Its Calvin Troy's Birthday! I am so excited! He is going to be a toddler soon! A day before the Chickette! My dress has finally came in and I am ready to celebrate! Velvet is now in 1st grade! Can you believe it?  She is now 6-years-old. But we really only celebrate the birthdays from baby to toddler, toddler to child, child to teen, teen to young adult and young adult to adult to elder. Velvet has decided she wants to throw her very own pool party that SHE planned all by herself! I told her she could invite 3 friends her age. And she invited her friend Alison (red head) and twins Julia and Leah. I am proud of her for invited her friends over and planning a party by herself! It is at 10 am tomorrow. It may be "Winter" but it never gets to cold around here. Unlike back home.

Now that Velvet is in 1st grade she now has to wear uniforms. I brought her to Susu and Susu cut her hair. Very cute!

Now it is time for baby Calvin to grow up.

Here we go!

He is a hansom little boy isn't he?

Oh now isn't this the sweetest picture? Velvet is playing with her little brother Calvin! Princess and Prince! How sweet!
