Day 21Dear Journal,
You might think that I would be use to being on a crowded boat... but you would be wrong. I still get sea sick occasionally and the food is far from gourmet but I am coping much better than others. For example I walked into the bathroom and Steven and Captain were fighting. Steven was screaming to poor old Captain things like...
"You DARE treat the rich like this? You should bow down to me!" as I recall. I hope I don't sound like that! I do think meeting Vander has really changed my outlook on life, in a good way.
Ha! I do love this picture, can you believe I might have married that fool! I am glad I backed away before it was too late. Steven's eyes have this... Crazed look to them... I must stay far out of his way before I 'm in the captains place. I have been spending my days on the top deck reading novels and playing with Velvet. Vander on the other hand is still required to work, Captain says we are passing over a great fishing spot... so Vander was ordered to catch fresh fish for dinner which sounds delicious!
Although, it makes with nervous looking at him because he is so very close to the edge! I warned him multiple times to step back a bit but he ignored me... Then he caught a big fish and with one small tug he was over board! I screamed for the captain and help and he came running. We threw a float out but missed by a long shot... Finally I pulled my sweater off and leaped into the water. Oh lord it was cold! I got the float the put it around Vander. The Captain cranked this be wooden machine that was used for crab fishing but in this case a life saver... It began pulling him up and I grabbed on to, I knew Vander had never had swim lessons before because he could never afford them, all he could do was float and hope. I was slipping as we were half way pulled up... I screamed at Vander to grab me but he had no hands free. I slipped and slipped until I was clinging to Vander's leg. Then, a slipped. But, I had grabbed the railing of the boat for dear life, a fall like that could injure me terribly. My wrist was throbbing but I waited for Vander to help me. And he did. I was onto the boat finally, wet and cold... Captain rushed to get me a towel. My wrist wasn't ok though... I was sure it was broken badly. We iced it but it still throbs...
