Seasons is new for me.  In the Immortal Dynasty I recently started, I've had a spring gnome and a winter gnome just appear in my yard spontaneously.  The spring gnome is cute, but tends to get in my way in the garden!  I also had a vampire gnome turn up when my garden sprouted plasma fruit.

I got my first gnome in Egypt, doing an excavation.  I was so glad to see one, I had looked all over, didn't know about stealing the ones in France then, so was thrilled to find one.
Ended up getting the rest from the art gallery in France.  Only other one I ever found was the China one, he was just sitting on the table in the market and I collected him.  Only time I have seen one there.

As for the snowgnome, after reading Joria's post I was playing a game and didn't pay attention, just had the sim couple built a snowman each and later on saw a weird shape by it.  Checked and it was a snow gnome.  Temp was at 23 then, so it definitely was at the needed temp, below 32 degrees.  I didn't have the snow level set, but there was a lot of snow.

Going to test it again on another game when it comes to winter, set the temp to be at 30 degrees and see what happens.

Question on the Elvis one, does it require a specific expansion pack to get that gnome?

You use the cheat to do it.  Control + Shift + C and at the top in the blue screen type in  " testingcheatsenabled true "   press enter and you can then do various cheats.  Leave off the parentheses and be sure to add a space before the word true.  Hold shift down, click on the ground and you will get a variety of selections, weather, temps, wind levels, snow levels and you can change it to what you prefer.

I don't know how much you know about the cheats, so I added that in case.  You can use the cheats for a lot of stuff; comes in real handy when remodeling and building  homes.

It requires Showtime. He comes from being in the singer profession or from leaving out Fried Peanut Butter and Banana sandwiches.

I'm getting so frustrated with this!  It seems every time I try a new file, (necessitated by various computer mess ups and needs to reinstall), I get a bunch of different gnomes but can't seem to be consistent on any of them except the sculpture gnome and the inventing gnome, and even those are showing up at different levels of skill.

This time around I'm playing in Aurora Skies, which I alternately love and hate.  I have three Sims in my household, a married couple and a singer.  All three are doing quite well in their various endeavors, but........I'm just not getting the gnomes!

Kirk Olaffson, handsome hunk that he is, has maxed and supermaxed several skills.  He loves to travel to the past and future, (no gnomes), is very adept at sculpting, (gnome named Clay made out of clay so he came along early), inventing, (gnome named Rusty who came along after he maxed out inventing) and he loves to dig with his miner, (gnome named Fred, a troglodyte from tunnel and gnome named Gimli picked up by miner).  His painting and guitar playing, (to satisfy his ltw) won't get him a gnome anyway so he spends a lot of time at festivals.  He has the Festival Frequenter reward and while he has tons of tickets he has yet to get an Autumn gnome by visiting the Haunted House.  He entered every day for several times and zip.  He did turn into a ghost once which about gave me a heart attack.

Ginger Peachy, his wife, is at the peak of her gardening career.  One hot day in summer it was just too much to be in the garden so she took a nap on her deck and acquired a summer gnome.  She is an avid fisherwoman, (no gnome), loves to go to the festivals, (no gnome), has a scarecrow in her garden, (no gnome) and is currently frustrated with the gardening bench and sunflowers although they are helping supermax gardening.  No one has traveled further than the outdoor market where they picked up Louis Phillipe, (French gnome) and Jean Louis, (second French gnome), Yao, (Chinese gnome), and Tut, (Egypt gnome).

Chantal Musique is doing very well and is pretty much a superstar singer.  (No lounge lizard gnome but I haven't given up hope).  Really, it's all she does besides read skill books in her spare time.

I had expected the summer gnome, (he's adorable), and an autumn gnome.  Why I haven't gotten the autumn gnome is beyond me, since every other file with a scarecrow in the garden netted me at least one, and then two with two scarecrows. I did get a laundry gnome after 3 loads of laundry but no vampire gnome with plasma fruit plants.  That one is still in test mode.  No gnome with one plant, or two, or three.  We're at 4 now.  No gnomes from sending out ores and minerals.  Going to try a fried banana and peanut butter sandwhich eventually.

My Monte Vista file has an equal number of puzzles for me.  Again, acquired gnomes via the outdoor market, (consignment store one that Anushka built), got one in a tomb in China, got several from plasma plants, got several of various types from mining, got one or two from both sculpting and inventing but none from the Seasons because I did not have Seasons installed there and once again, none from sending out gems and ores which has always netted gnomes for me before.

In short, my conclusion is either my pc REALLY sucks, (which I already knew), or acquiring gnomes really is totally random and unpredictable.

Acquiring gnomes is a small percent chance per action.  They don't stack and it doesn't double your chances if you do it twice.  It's still a small chance per action.

Sculpting gnomes aren't available until level 5 sculpting ever.  The first thing my inventor invented in the gnome challenge was an inventing gnome.

The only gnomes you can guarantee are the three in the french museum and only then if you go to get them right away.  After that they move and could be unfindable.  The seasonal ones are only guaranteed if you buy them.

In the gnome challenge there were gnomes I had to beg borrow and steal plus pull teeth to get.  There were others that fell into my lap.

Getting gnomes if frustrating.

Put up the scarecrow and didn't see a gnome, sim went to the haunted house several times and finally gets a gnome.  Winter comes, keep the temps at 30, build over 50 snowmen, no gnome.  Spring comes and the snow melts and low and behold, there is a fall gnome in front of the bales of hay.  And beside it is the spring gnome, I haven't the faintest idea of how he got there.

Have another game in same town and built only one snowman and when it warms up there is a snowgnome in the yard.

I've given up on the "do this and you will get a gnome", I am going to only trust in the ones at the art gallery in France.

The fall gnome has a higher chance to spawn when a Sim dies (it's 5%) than when a scarecrow is put up (2%). Just a random tidbit.

That's interesting Seabody.  I finally got my fall gnome but don't know if anyone died, at least it wasn't anyone my family knew or were a part of.  Do you know the percentage rates for all the various gnomes?

Yes, after all that ranting I did finally get a fall gnome.  Just planted a small garden OUTSIDE instead of in the green house with a scarecrow I bought with festival tickets instead of from buydebug.  Oh, and I set the fall temp at 60. It was after that it showed up but nothing at a higher or lower temp.  Had to run fall twice.   Whether that made a difference or not I don't know since my first time it was a buydebug scarecrow and got not only one, but two gnomes with two scarecrows.

The lounge lizard showed up as well after Chantal became a Superstar.  She was off on tour and he was there when she got back.

Vampire gnome showed up after I planted 4 plasma fruit bushes but don't think the number is a criteria.  I've always had at least 3 in any garden I've built so hard to tell.

Acquiring gnomes is a small percent chance per action.  They don't stack and it doesn't double your chances if you do it twice.  It's still a small chance per action.

Sorry to disagree about the sculpting gnomes, but mine showed up after his second sculpture and he was nowhere near level 5.  Another gnome myth busted.  I was really surprised as I expected to have to at least reach level 10 before one showed up.  His name is Clay.

I think the bottom line is acquiring gnomes is a totally random action in the game.  The only "for sures", is the positions they take, the fact that a vampire gnome WILL transform all teddy bears into more vgs, after generations MMGs can and do procreate, age and die, Gnome of the Darned will bring ghosts to your lot, and that for many of us they are a lot of fun to watch.

Next comes Winter.  I'll set my temp at 32 and build ONE snowman.  If no snow gnome, will add heavy snow.  If no snow gnome, will visit the festival.

What?  Grannies can't play games?

2.  grab at Fortune Teller lot

Okay, I've tried this in several different games now, including starting new games, and I just can't find the gnome others have said is at the Fortune Teller lot. I must have misunderstood something - this is the Moonlight Falls fortune teller lot, right? Or do you mean something else?

I was looking around my lot, when I caught sight of Bonehilda kicking my gnomes and setting them back up, then kicking them again. She was alternating between them.

I believe she has some unresolved issues

I think I found this thread before and then lost it. I see there are many more gnomes now and I have yet to get any other than the vampire gnome and that was ages ago when Late Night first came out. Is there a place in the guide that explains how to get the gnomes?

If not how do I beg Carl to add one? :)

Callycat: it's the Fortune Tellers lot in Moonlight Falls.

PlatnumDymnd: Joria and I are currently working on getting all our notes and screenshots together on the different gnomes, how to get them and poses so that Carl can add it to the guide. :)
