Do all the gnomes move around randomly?

Yep - there's no stopping them unless you keep them in a chest or inventory or sell 'em.

Whatever they tell you is  the chance of a horse gnome from the horse licking the salt lick - I think they have the decimal in the wrong place. If you have a horse and a salt lick on the same lot, you will find yourself up to the eyeballs in horse gnomes.

I think I also remember reading something somewhere that the zenyatta spawn new ones.

Yeah, all the gnomes will magically teleport around your lot and change poses every so often, and depending on the type of gnome they are, they might perform various activities, some more helpful (or not) than others.  If you get bored/annoyed by them, they're worth 1000K a pop. Besides fishing, smelting and (if you have Ambitions) mining, you can also get them from the the graveyard. If you do have Ambitions, you can get them from the Consignment Store as well as one of the cases in the Private Investigator profession - I forget the name of the case, but it's the one where you're trying to figure out who kicked another sim's gnome. With World Adventures you can also use transfiguration if the items you use add up to between certain set amounts. If you don't have Ambitions or WA, fishing and the graveyard is probably your best bet for the Mr. Mysterious variety of gnome.

Here's the link to the page on the sims wiki.

Do you need two Mysterious Gnomes to have babies? Or does one due.

1000K a pop.

$1,000,000!? :P

But seriously, it's a 5% chance that the salt lick will spawn a gnome, and the horse must be licking it for 80 minutes, every twenty minutes, the chance increases by 2%.

You can get the Magical Gnome of Invention from inventions. I don't know the odds though. I only know that my sim was busy inventing and/or making 10 toys on the invention bench (I'm not sure because I wasn't paying attention to when it appeared) and she got a gnome. I'm sure there must be one for every profession. Again though, I've not consulted the wiki or anything else.

You can buy gnomes in buydebug.  So far I've had the "regular" gnome, (red hat blue jacket, rosy cheeks), which I guess is Magical Mr. Gnome.  My gnomies have all had babies, (the MMG ones), they age, die and leave behind a tombstone.  If you make a gnome graveyard you'll fine your gnomies congregating there frequently.

I'm pretty infatuated with gnomes, to the point that I even allow vampire gnomes, and I HATE vampires.  Vampire gnomes will stalk teddy bears and other stuffed toys and will turn them into more vampire gnomes.  It's kind of amusing to watch but takes patience.  One day I lined up a bunch of teddies, (was short of money), and bit by bit they were all turned, and sold.

I've gotten gnomes from sculpting and from making toys/widgets, etc.  The horse gnome eventually appeared on my farm but while I just had a regular household, as opposed to a place with horses, all the gnomes were either WA, from using the time machine, or from a career.  (Lounge Lizard gnome).  Teddy Bear gnomes are from doing laundry with a washer and dryer.  Here's a few of my friends:

Has anyone randomly found the non-magical gnomes in the game somewhere?  I know there is a non-magical gnome in bridgeport at the art museum but I haven't found any others.

Has anyone noticed any special traits that help you get gnomes from the claw machine?

Like lucky or unlucky

Or have you noticed that with Savvy Sculptor trait it might be harder to get a gnome because a gnome is made on accident.

By non-magical gnomes do you mean the ones that just stand there and never do anything?  I think they are called Sleeping Gnome McNulty.  You can find several of them on display in the General Store in France.

If you mean other types of gnomes, I'm currently researching all the gnome types and all the ways you can acquire them.  Doing at least 7 loads of laundry on the high end washer, (the red one the others don't work), usually will net you Abracadabra, the laundry gnome.  He looks like a teddy bear and yes, he does play peek a boo.  (Sort of)

All gnomes are available in buydebug some are available randomly at the consignment store.

Yes, but there are other non-magical gnomes that could be in the world.  Like the Cat Gnome holding the sign Strays welcome there is two other ones like this for a Dog and Horse.  I thought maybe on in Appaloosa Plains they would be out in the world but I haven't found any yet.

You can't steal the gnome in the art museum or the general store.

As far as the gnomes other people have listed.  That seems to be all the Magic Gnomes I know about except for Lounge Lizard (lvl 7 singing career) will appear if Fried Peanut Butter Sandwiches are left out.  And Cranstan Boonitz will appear if magic is used often gene or witch.

I haven't been able to get the Felix Felinenimus (whacked out cat) gnome to appear or the Carter Caninenimus (best friend dog) gnome to appear.  I also haven't had any luck with Sculpting Gnome (lvl 5 sculptor) appearing.  That's why I asked if anyone knew of any traits that might help these spawn.
