I was initially thrilled that Topaz had paired up with Chip, but the more I think about it, the less I feel he may be suitable. I decided to look up Davy Cho and see if he's still available.
The Pertridges have moved away and for some reason the Chos have commandeered their old house - with the Songs along for the ride.

This is Minzi Cho all grown up. She's not a bad looker, is she? She could do with some different hair, though.

And this is Davy. He's not as good-looking as his brother, but he's not a vampire. He's also a Loner and an Angler, which should come in useful.

Topaz can't find out whether he's a suitable candidate until she's a Young Adult. He may well be an entire age ahead of her as he was a child, possibly a teen, around the time that she was born. But I still think he's a better bet than Chip, who's growing more and more elusive. If Topaz has to break up with him, I've really no idea how she'll manage it if he won't meet her somewhere. However, I'll still keep him around in case my plans for Davy fall through.

Topaz had her Young Adult birthday party. It was supposed to be a very quiet affair, with only a few close family and friends attending, but of course, the few that were invited brought others along! Emerald had her work cut out cooking for them all!
And of course, this would be the one time Chip is invited to something and he actually shows up.
One last glimpse of teenage Topaz...

And now the world of adulthood spreads out before her!

Before Davy had to skedaddle for his job at the Mausoleum, I had Topaz ask him if he was single. He was! Yes! But now the challenge is going to be breaking up with Chip. Maybe he'll be easier to get hold of now he's a Young Adult.
Topaz also had her graduation ceremony. She was made a Valedictorian! She was also voted by her classmates as Most Likely to Never Leave the House. Yep, I think that sums up her future rather nicely.
Chip was there. I thought that this would be a good opportunity to break up with him, but I didn't have the heart. I didn't want to spoil his graduation day.

Topaz called up Davy and invited him to dinner instead.

The outing was a huge success and she got him to move in. He also brought a car! W00T!

Then as evening drew in, Topaz called up Chip and asked him to meet her at the park. He agreed! And once they were there, she bit the bullet and broke up with him.
But to my relief it didn't completely destroy their relationship. He may be Mean-Spirited, but I'd like it if he and Topaz can remain friends.
Now Davy's in the family (and Emerald and Jessica are only a day from aging up), I decided to send the entire family on a nine-day holiday to Egypt to do some relic-hunting! More of that next time!

It's been a busy holiday for the family. And a careful one as far as I'm concerned. I'm still haunted by losing one of my favourite families to a travelling glitch.
Emerald and Topaz have been handling the adventures, hoping to get their Visas up as far as possible so that I can buy them a vacation home as soon as they have the money.

Jessica has been fishing in the Nile to get that final skill point which will allow her to catch Deathfish. Nicholas has been spending most of his time up in the orchard lot, harvesting the trees there to plant in the garden when they get home.
Emerald also bought Topaz a late birthday present of a camera so she can get started on her Photography skill.

Davy has been doing... a little of everything. He did a bit of tomb raiding, had a wish to learn the fishing skill, visited sights etc. He can't get the painting skill up yet until they have a vacation home, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

The main focus of the holiday, beside earning money from relics, gems and metals, was getting Topaz and Davy to the next level in their relationship. They were quickly falling deeply in love.

After a day of tomb raiding, Davy was feeling pretty unlucky, but he knew what he must do.
So, with the Egyptian sun beating down upon the both of them, he asked Topaz to be his wife.

(That's a lovely shot of him, don't you think?)

She accepted. Of course.

The perfect end to an exciting holiday.

I really like the way you write it is so natural and effortless. I am also using a gem naming theme in my immortal dynasty. So far I have Garnet,Amber and Jade.

When the family returned home from their holiday in Egypt, they were greeted with an enormous surprise. The Watcher had granted them a new house!

And by that I mean one that actually looked like a house. Hehe.

I was very keen that this family should really be a farming family, so their house is... cosy, I'd say. I'm in love with a lot of big farming houses and besides, Emerald, being the head of this clan, will want the family to be as in touch with nature as she is. Dunno whether subsequent generations will honour that; we will have to wait and see.
Emerald and Jessica aged up that evening. I'm going to keep Emerald's grey hair until she eats Ambrosia - that way it'll be like the Ambrosia really grants her renewed youth. That and it makes her portraits look at least a little realistic.

Topaz and Davy had their wedding the next day. Emerald couldn't attend because she was at work for the final time, maxing out her career. But it was still a success without her.

The guests of honour were Chip Ornales and Minzi Cho. Topaz has managed to keep up her friendship with Chip and if I could have done, he'd probably have been Best Man.
And how else for a newly married couple to celebrate than...

Chimes! Gen 3 is on the way!

And that's not the only imminent new arrival. Under guidance from Katluver, I got the family to adopt a little dog to help them find gems.
Meet Sandpiper Merryweather.

To add to my joy, I discovered that Minzi Cho sent her brother and new sister-in-law a socking great plane like the one that is usually in front of the military station as a wedding present.

Look at this thing! It's blooming huge! But the best part is... it's worth 75,000.
Man, if Minzi wasn't a pixilated character on screen, I would kiss her. That provides money for the Ambrosia recipe AND a couple of cars to boot! Emerald is very nearly done with all her requirements, just her portrait to finish. Did I really do all this without cheats?

The very next night Jessica finished Emerald's final portrait.

In the morning Emerald went to the special chest in her room where the Life Fruit, Death Fish and Death Flowers were kept and cooked up (and replicated) her first batch of Ambrosia.

Welcome to the first Merryweather Immortal. And yes, I got ALL of the requirements! No cheats! (Except for that infamous incident with Bolt the Unicorn, and that didn't affect any of the Sims directly). I'm so happy I could sing.

Thanks for the feedback, everybody! I'm really excited for you to meet the two new arrivals of the Merryweather clan!

Davy and Topaz are very excited as the birth of their child draws closer...

The day after Emerald ate Ambrosia, it was Davy's birthday. He's been up to his eyes in fishing and painting lately, so he just aged up by himself.

I tried to get a good shot of him but he will insist on those crossed eyes. He's honestly a lot more handsome than he's making himself out to be.

But no time to admire his new mature(?) self... commotion in Topaz's bedroom/art studio.

She's taking this whole 'giving birth' thing a heck of a lot better than her mother did. Emerald screamed the place down when she was in labour. Topaz took everything very calmly before grabbing Davy and dashing off to hospital in her father's truck. And once she was at hospital, she didn't hang about. She left Davy in the dust, went in, had the baby and was out again before her beau even had time to draw breath.

Welcome Quartz Merryweather. His traits are Athletic and Disciplined. No prizes for guessing what I plan for him to pursue!

And Quartz isn't the only one. One day this little beauty came yowling at the door.

I've seen her coming ever since I first got the Pets expansion pack, not long after I started the Dynasty. For the most part I just ignored her, but to my amazement Jessica Willow has been interacting with her all on her own every time she's showed up, and it's pushed their relationship bar up far enough to adopt her! Now that's weird. Could be a glitch, I suppose.
Although we've already got Sandpiper, I felt like letting her into the household for Jessica because Jess's life has seemed rather lonely and sad. She's basically been my skilling tool to get the early portraits and deathfish, and recently I've been using her happiness points to supply money for the family via the Inheritance reward. Considering I usually treat my Sims with a lot of love, care and respect, that's pretty despicable. So let her have a cat to love in her final years.

Two gallant old ladies!

I called the cat Stelmaria, because she looks like a snow-leopard (virtual cookie to whoever gets that reference!). She probably won't be with us for very long because she's already an Elder at 62 days old. But let's hope she sticks around.

Might wanna keep her off the catnip, though. Falling off the counter can't be good for your bones, old girl!

Topaz keeps some special time aside every day from her busy profession as an artist to spend with her son.

And Nicholas is especially proud of his new grandson.

However, it was his grandmother Emerald who brought him to his birthday cake.

And Quartz aged up into...

Wow! One gorgeous toddler! I mean it, I don't think I've ever had a boy toddler this good-looking! Though I haven't the faintest idea where the black hair came from. His father Davy has brown hair with lighter streaks, and Topaz has almost orange hair. What's really funny about how Quartz turned out is that he looks half-Asian. And since I plan for him to spend a lot of time in China, that just tickles me! He's going to fit right in!

Be prepared for a deluge of baby piccies!

He is adorable. Sometimes the game just gives kiddies random hair colour. I once had two dark haired Sims produce a blond child.

First the baby-splurge I promised with little Quartz...

Quartz is close to both of his parents.

He also likes spending time in the garden with Granny and Grandad after lessons in walking and talking.

How fitting that Topaz's first Masterpiece should be the portrait of her son.

She loves to listen to what he has to say, even if it doesn't make total sense yet.

As you can see, they look almost nothing like each other.

But he's just as cute as she was as a toddler when he's asleep!

In other news, Stelmaria and Sandpiper are good friends and enjoy each other's company very much.

Also, two curious gnomes have appeared out of nowhere.

I noticed the cat gnome arrived shortly after Jessica adopted Stelmaria, but I have no clue where the vampire gnome came from. It's kinda creepy.

"Rawr. I vont to drink yor blod..."

And finally, little Quartz ponders the meaning of life, the universe, and what he's having for supper.
